Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The saddest day in dbd history

I still can’t believe this, as if this year wasn’t bad enough we’re losing the first ever license

I’m in disbelief rn without Myers dbd wouldn’t be were it is today I wouldn’t be here none of us would

I know it’s just a game and life goes on but this is like the first death blow to dbd itself the first ever licensed dlc is gone

    his rework isn’t awful

He actually had Lethality now, he can smash pallets in a chase, insta down and get long range downs like nothing AND kill people on death hook without having to down??
    he’s incredible

People don't mean strength when they call his rework awful. Sure he is strong, the problem is he is dash slop now, and that's just lazy and bad design.

doesn't matter, no game last forever, especially licensed killers, 9 years is very long time for a game to exist.

This just shows how badly game licenses is handled by licensing companies. Like would it not make more money to let licenses to be able to be used by more than one company. That is not going to make you more money in the long run.

I have no idea what the specifics are for anything in reality here but I could imagine a scenario where this is the optimal play:

Say license x was in DBD for years now as a DLC, earns 5% of each $10 DLC sale, and requires renewal every year. Now imagine there's a new game coming out that offers 15% of each $60 full game price sale but requires exclusivity. If the estimated new game sales are anywhere near even 60% to 70% of the estimated DLC sales for that particular year then it's a better financial decision to go with the full game. Sure, the new game might not be around in a year but that's fine - they can just go right back to licensing property x as DLC in DBD once the renewal is up. It's not like BHVR are going to tell them 'nope, we don't want property x anymore'.

It's not good for the games, not good for the fans, and I don't like it but if you're looking at it from a financial/don't care about the property other than money perspective then exclusivity agreements can make sense.

Mikey's the reason I got into Dbd in the first place.

It sucks. I just hope they get the license back again soon.

Problem is what is good killer in these days, he has to have mobility and good power made from many smaller ones like springtrap to be even mediocre and easiest and most effective way for killer to work and wont be rejected by community as skullmerchant is dash power ( thats respected even if the killer is op like blight).

Billy and Nurse are the definition of good killers. Just give a strong power that is difficult to pull off. Instead, they now give every other killer a simple "press X to catch up" power that doesn't require a smallest fraction of skill to use.

Billy is kinda dash killer to but his power is well done and nurse has most op power because she is even slower than survivors running speed so she is just all about her power and nothing more (the slower the killer is the more he is reliant on his power to get something done like chucky, huntress, slinger, spirit) but she still needs to not see auras when she is charging her blink just like spirit and she will be solid and more fair for her number 1 killer spot (auras are her problem and thats why weskers perk was nerfed because her blink attacks were m1 hits so exposed with aura read meant wallhack with teleport plus oneshot which was fixed but not that much).

My point was, they are strong, but it doesn't feel cheap when you get hit by their powers. Especially by Nurse, since she is suffering by several severe bugs for 2 years so far and counting, like the rubber banding bug that can just steal your blink attempt out of nowhere. Meanwhile, whenever you get hit by your usual dash slop, it always feel like the guy just pressed a button and got you, without much effort. This is why dash slop is hated.

for her number 1 killer spot

She is no longer number 1, that's the Blight's place now. Nurse is number 2 at most. She lacks map control due to slow map mobility, which makes her easy to genrush, while Blight's map control is unmatched. Beside already mentioned bugs, she is also the most sensitive to "subtle" speedhackers, as just a few percent of speed increase can make it impossible to catch up to the survivor who is holding W. Meanwhile Blight is the most tolerant to speedhackers, since no "subtle" speedhacker can outrun the Blight. Yes, we now have to account for cheaters when we discuss game balance, as they are now so frequent they are part of the base game at this point. So no, I don't think the Nurse needs another nerf, at least not until her bugs are fixed and her basekit reverted to the original form.

I don't hate every aspect of it, like the add-on reworks, but the core of his changes being the addition of Slaughtering Strike (a recycled and unthematic ability) is what I and so many others dislike. He's certainly stronger than before, but creativity should always come before strength in my opinion.

Worst DBD year by far, they are even losing the license that gave them the boost they needed.

Well the funny thing is that Halloween DLC was the one that made me notice this game and buy it as I bought the game at 28th of October 2016. Halloween DLC was released 25th of October

I hope they put up a fight to get it back. Without this chapter, the game would very likely not be where it is today.

Losing Halloween = losing a huge part of dbd's identity.

I dont think that the Halloween Chapter did soo much for the sake of DBD popularity at all. To prove I that I took a look at athe steam charts during that time: the game got an influx of players but that went down as quickly as it started (within a month). No doubt that Halloween is the One licence to go in the horror genre, but it never did that much for DBD to be fair. Probably partly cause Myers wasnt the strongest to begin with, but one of the most unfair ones (yeah i look at you tombstone). He was more like a meme with the mirror-builts.

Also it was quite predictable that this will happen. A new game with this licence is coming, so those developers try to push the fans into the game by locking them out of other games (not that the content is fully removed to begin with). As others already mentioned, those are the same as TCM, so from their latest work they have not much of a reputation for a good game coming out. Its also likely we will get the licence back after a year or so if the new game is following the dying rate of TCM.

People blaming Gun media: there not the ones making the game it’s actually Illfonic who’s developing the game. Illfonic has been developing the game for awhile.

The number one spot is not as clear as you make it to be. Yes, Blight has better map mobility, but nurse has also her strengths. Good pallets and god pallets will buy you time against Blight, but the Shack pallets doesnt stop the tunnel out. There are a lot of strengths and weaknesses, but both killers are roughly the same. There was a showcase on youtube some weeks ago (streamer/comp players), which probably compared them better.

And Nurse isnt that skillful/rewards good players. She is pretty easy if you compare it to the entire killer rooster. Yes, she is not insane easy to play like Kaneki, but that shouldnt be the benchmark.
