Why does Pickup Speed have a Harsh cap?
For people using add-ons and perks to increase pickups speed for those who don't know has a max cap of 42% and my question is why?
If it's a balance reason then why do other more important game mechanics have cap of 100% (Healing, Kickspeed, Gen Speed, Attack cooldown, Vault speed,) way more important things that can change the balance of the game and yet pickup speed is the one with the most harsh cap?
I think the pickup cap should be like the rest at 100%

It has potential to counter DS, I'm not sure if there's any other reason though

Makes me question why they drew the line here when it comes to hard caps on anything.
Heck, even DS could be changed to be automatic so pickup couldn't have a cap, but they still capped it anyway.3 -
If it can bypass Ds cause of the skill check DS doesn't even need it anyway it's should just be automatic it's an outdated perk design.

Exactly. Stacking has been an issue the devs have acknowledged in how it limits design, tried and failed to address it with things like haste, but this is the most important place for a hard cap. If it's all because it would be too much work to fit in the skill check timing for DS, that feels kinda… specific. Especially when other cases of stacking can have much bigger impacts on either side (like haste or gen speed/regression/blocking)

Maybe to keep pallet/flashlight saves possible or for animation reasons? I have no idea.

When Kaneki released they've said the cap would be 42% because more than that caused pretty weird issues with the animation.

I mean it's already weird with it already? So IDK why they think that.
I'm sure players adjust and adapt reaction Andy's could find it a good challenge

Isn't flashlight timing pretty easy now? Not as bad as that one time but iirc its a lot more forgiving than it had been for quite a while.

Yes, but only if you are too early. With faster animations you are too late and its probably impossible. But its not the reason, Lightborn exists too.

Could be animation breaking or it could just be to prevent dribbling.
I know things like vault speed were capped because stacking it caused animations to break when hitting a certain speed.
Used to be, even before my time, that the DS skill check took something like a few seconds to spawn. So killers would "dribble" survivors by picking up, taking a few steps, then dropping them again to prevent the skill check from spawning at all.

My guess is that this is, again, a lie much like the seven years bug that prevented killers to look down after a M1

Because it breaks the DS prompt thats the only reason. It wasn't present on the kaneki ptb but using forever entwined with fire up would result in this issue so the cap is how they addressed it.
