Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Some loops are just filers that are unsafe and bad to stay at, some are mid and great 50/50 and others are super safe and offer huge safety (shack, main, jungle gym). other things are killers some have antiloop and dont care ot are m1 and everything is against them but merchant even the fact she can force you out from strong loops with her drone still has quite easier counter than stronger killers and she still is m1 with no mobility like if you can beat killers like mayers normaly than merchant is piece of cake if your mates dont give up and give her free kill and preasure.

All my bad games against merchant were because one of the 4 key element of the match (the player, the survivor) give up or more of them but that doesnt make her broken and honestly every killer can win if someone gives up on 5 or 4 gens because at that poin winnng 3v1 killer has to screw up and hard, he must do mistakes one after another and survivors have to paly great (its possible but not more common, quite rare as getting with mmr blue eye nurse that doesnt know how to blink).

Vecnas skeletons arent free hit because if he hits them he either used elevation to spawn them on survviors level making them uncrouchable or he used then right behind you so they spawned into your hitbox or he used them when you were in animation which is where every killer will hit you and you wont be able to doge it if they dont miss.

When you crouch and doge them he gets slowed for solid time and most of then times he uses them its near some pallet or window so its more common for survivor to rerach safety than getting that m1 (if that happens in open are no wonder he gets that m1 hit even after you doge his skeletons).

what about people who gave up, got hooked, saved, and kept giving up. You have no idea how often I see that

free hinder? Not free. You have to scan about five different times for the hindering, and it’s not even that much hinder

the devs admitted that they intentionally overnerfed skull merchant so people wouldn’t complain while they implement her rework.

She is still a noob stomper (free undetectable, power can injure) so noobs hate her, and most veteran players understandably think it’s a bit boring to go against a killer the devs overnerfed. (Pulsar already said this, but got downvoted for it, love these forums)

There is also added sentiment that lingers from when she was insanely good at holding gen setups for 1 hour. It’s not reasonable but people still hate her because she was like that.

A free M1, not a skeleton hit. They crouch, I catch up, I hit them.

As I wrote this works only in open or if survivors greed because normaly skeletons are used near windows and mostly pallets so there is plenty of time to make it there because slowdown from skeletons is quite big.

that’s the counterplay for her drones. I don’t say why it’s an issue. You don’t even have to dodge them all, just don’t get scanned four times

it's nothing to do with counterplay. it's literally just bad power design that no one enjoys. please stop being ignorant. bhvr said themselves they are disappointed with how she's turned out on a dev livestream. do you think crouching will make them happier with her design too?

They said it after community already hated her the most from all the things of entire game.

Desing is one thing and another is power level like was old mayers and trapper good desing? for me yes but are they well desing to be able to stand their ground in current game meta? absolutely not because they would be bottom (trapper is even after all his buffs bottom G and only reason he isnt number one now is because of merchant). Skullmerchant isnt greatly done to please other people especialy survivors and only pleases her mains but she isnt problematic due to power issue or because she has no counter, she is just one of weakest killers in the entire game and can do way less than trapper and ghostface which both of them can get quite quic downs and have some snowball but she cannot unless survivors doesnt run into her and eat her m1 attacks and give her the win, she can shut loops with her drone and injure you but its nothing compare to trapper, hag, singularity, knight, artist and many other killers that can shut loops with their powers too and faster without much counterplay for the survivor or clown he has more skill expression indeed but casualy he is merchant on steroids in shuting down loops and even best loopers cant loop good clown long compare to other killers that are way stronger than clown so he is pain to deal with I believe that but at the end of the day she is just bottom G now and you shoul be winning against her a lot or draw at worst (unless your teammates doesnt commit suicide in the name of their believes and give her free preasure and win which is most of my losses to her from my experience).

Honestly, I don't think there's any problems anymore. I think she's pretty fair and balanced to go against.

But players are both traumatized and incapable of adapting or changing their mind.

Like mentioned, she's become the poster child for everything wrong with DBD, fairly or not. And when people are angry and frustrated with the game, they need something to blame. It largely just gets taken out on her.

Many will say that the free injury states are why they hate her, but she's far from the first or only killer to get quick injuries, and far from the only M1 or trap/setup Killer in the game. Look at Trapper, the game's first Killer! What about Plague, or Legion? Hag? Freddy before he was reworked a second time had traps, too. There are plenty of Killers that get easy injuries and do setup play.

People complain that they have to crouch against Skull Merchant's drones, yet they have no issue doing that to dodge Vecna's spectral skeletons.

People complain about the hinder and haste, but are totally fine with Clown having both be his entire kit.

Honestly, almost every complaint that is made about today's Skull Merchant is incredibly cherry-picked, because almost all of the complaints can be attributed to other Killers.

It really boils down to, PTSD from how easily she was able to capitalize on the Overcharge + Call of Brine + Eruption meta still traumatizes players.

And honestly, she's quite complicated to learn how to counter, so she used to absolutely pub-stomp.

Also the teasers for the chapter pre-release led everyone to believe that the Killer was going to be a robot, and when it was revealed to be an regular-appearing woman, many were quite disappointed since their expectations were not met and not getting what they wanted played into their hatred of the character.

Personally, I commend the devs for making Skull Merchant the first female Killer in the game to not be disfigured and not play into the horrible horror tropes of "ugliness/disability is scary." After the backlash on how regular Adriana looked, it does not appear we'll be returning to that style of regular-appearing original Killers: For example, Portia (Houndmaster) is facially disfigured.
