5 Tips to help Cure Killer Anxiety
Considering I've never once seen the devs address Killer Anxiety here's a 13min vid on it by Refined.
In a nutshell if not watching the vid. Would still recommend it if you have Killer Anxiety.
- Redefine what success means.
- Play with Intent not Fear.
- Accept that some games are unwinnable (it's not a skill issues)
- Limit exposure to the toxicity and protect your mental space.
- Don't do this alone.

honestly thanks for bringing this up, my anxiety for playing killer is really what stops me from playing it 😥

What would you suggest that the devs to do alleviate killer anxiety?
7 -
Here's one quick thing they can do to alleviate it, which is tangentially grazed in the video:
Bring back the BP bonus stacks on BBQ & Chili. Getting double BP for hooking each survivor once means that the killer has a 'win' condition that's not as hard to attain, doesn't require any sweating, and doesn't even require the opposing team to lose.
Same with WGLF. Having these alternative ways to feel accomplished and rewarded can take a huge amount of pressure off, and I honestly think that the removal of these BP bonuses have done way more harm to the game than the devs are aware of or willing to admit.
These are huge for improving the 'feel' of a match and should be explored more to improve player sentiment.

Honestly the best cure for killer anxiety is just good ol' fashion playtime. The more killer you play the better you get handling the anxiety, at a certain point you just unleash your inner Department of Transport employee and just stop caring altogether.

BBQ is still my most run killer perk even after all these years. Shows how much I went for those stacks back then, sometimes even throwing to get them. Need ma stonks!

For me if I feel too stressed I just do a fun match which is sometimes better than a high k one. I also just use killers that I always have fun with regardless of results.

I don't get killer anxiety because it's easy mode, even with trapper. I get killer boredom from how easy it is.

I really can't tell if this term is a meme or people are being serious….

Its real just not alot of people talk about as majority of the time it gets ridiculed but lately i have seen it gaining strength and more people openly talking about it and less ridicule so that a postive.
and it is very valid and real as dont forget while survivors have teammates/friends to cover their mistakes killer is all by themselves where a single mistake can cost them the whole game (this was even said in the video should give it a watch)
I would say personally reduce gen effiency will be a great step to alleviate killer anxiety for example base corrupt and deadlock that would attack the gen effiency and take some anxiety away from the killers about potentially making a bad chase and survivors complete 60% of their objectives in 90 seconds (Gen is worth roughly 20% of their objectives if you wondering where i got 60% from)

Is playing the 1 more stressful than playing as part of the 4 in a 1v4, of course. However, in this specific game a single mistake is much more likely to cost all survivors the match than it is to cost the killer the match. This particular content creator is a killer sided rage farmer in most of their videos, not someone who's content can or should be taken at face value and not someone I am going to gift a watch to. In the last month they have videos claiming that perkless vecna is S-tier and about their current win streak followed by half a dozen saying BHVR hates killers.
Reducing gen efficiency would do nothing to alleviate this stress and just put more burden on survivors to be gen efficient, further pushing casual survivors out of the game. If you make corrupt or deadlock basekit how much time are you going to lop off generators to compensate or how are you otherwise going to nerf killers to maintain a 60% kill rate overall? The only other option would be to buff survivors in some way. If the desired outcome is to increase that overall kill rate then we are trying to disguise a balance change as something else.

Is this buzzword of the month?

Of course it's real. You can find it in every reliable medical journal.

To honset what help get rid of killer anxiety taking break from dbd go outside hangin out with friends

Making it easier to win would work, but thats not the point here. Some changes like that paired with anti-tunnel changes to even it out, wouldnt be bad for the game, but its not how you should tackle that specific problem.
The best way are simpler personal "wins". Hook everyone once etc. Best case, they make old bbq stacks basekit like someone suggested.
Beginner lobbies with bots where you can earn bp could also be a good option to get started.

I have generalised anxiety disorder in real life, there's no way I'd play a game or role that caused me anxiety lol only advice i can give is have no expectations when going into a game. Don't concern yourself with the outcome. Can't stress if you don't care.

Ladder anxiety is a very real thing

I Honestly don't know myself other than just play the game and change your mindset. Don't worry about sweating for a 4K. It's really a mental problem that every player has that'll be different for everyone it'll be hard to make any game play changes to really help with it so why i posted the vid here let others find it if it'll help anyone else out.
If anything, i would disable the end game chat entirely and get rid of it since too often it's just toxic players throwing out every slur or go get a noose. Main reason i don't play this game as much anymore. Replace it with a some fixed pre-made chat text that can be used. Kinda like an emote wheel.

I want to try be understanding of this as someone who has pretty bad anxiety as well.
But if a game is making you feel this bad legit maybe just dont play the game….9 -
you can hide the chat

And where am I going to collect my style points after putting a bully squad in their place with my Karmic Nurse then? Hide your chat if you want, I need to know how well I did.

Care to post any videos or stats to prove this? You keep saying stuff like this, but I don’t think anyone actually believes you.

- If I had to give tips, I'd simply say play for fun and accept that sometimes you win and other times you lose... STOP. DBD is no different from any other video game in this respect! Paradoxically, the fact that "official" balance of DBD is the killer has a 60% chance of winning only increases this state of anxiety, because when you lose you think, "I was really terrible, even though on paper I have a higher probability of winning, in reality I lost." Even the killer winning streak doesn't help this psychological condition: if I see Odzarva making a long winning streak with any killer in the game I'm led to think "so it's possible to always win, if I lost it's my fault!"

what even is killer anxiety lmao ?

They are correct, though crude.
The more you play, and presumably the better you get, the less that anxiety kicks in.

It’s one thing to say this stuff if you can back it up. That at least is a good-faith disagreement. Doing it with no experience on the side that you claim is “ez mode” is simply intentional trolling.

To an extent. When it comes to things like accessibility issues for instance, experience only goes so far. It can even lead to a type of self-disparagement and being overcritical of one's mistakes or things beyond their control. Experience does a lot for most people, but sometimes other adjustments are needed.
