Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

After Vecna, what reason will people have to stay?

With the new Stranger Things chapter coming out on the heel of the finale, there will definitely be a surge of players when the chapter releases. However, once the hype ends and Vecna becomes just another killer, what reason will people have to stay?

What improvements and fixes are coming out alongside this chapter to keep people playing? The burnout is at an all time high, and players are starting to get seriously tired of no real changes since operation health has been a faliure with substantial changes to improve game health, plus the lack of content for a longer than normal period.

That they’re still having fun? That they genuinely love the game and still enjoy playing it. That, regardless for all the whining on Reddit and these forums, they’re not having as bad of a time as the whiners are?

Remember, Reddit and the forums are only a tiny fraction of the playerbase and that most of the whining is from the same people posting under different accounts because they’ll never be happy. If you’ve been here long enough you can tell who is who just by their writing style and their arguments.

Where are you getting your statistics that burnout is “at an all time high”? Did the devs provide you with the results of some secret poll they took? Or is it just your opinion? The player-base has always risen around new chapters and taper off once the newness wears off. It’s nothing new and it always goes back up with the release of new chapters and events.

there were more loose ends than I’d have liked, Wills acting wasn’t very good in this season (felt like overacting) and some of the writing could have been better but i don’t think it was terrible. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

If I was able to change things, I’d have switched season 3 with 5 and have the final battle take place in Hawkins and change some of the writing to make it work better.

It was fine, totally acceptable place to end it.

Except for my two favorite characters. I have been legitimately depressed over it. Also, S4 was pretty peak.

I liked Billy, but there are better antagonists in the future.

Apparently prestige rewards were pushed back with the chapter so maybe this month. As for continuing with the game thats about the same with any license that comes in, like fnaf or tokyo ghoul. If anything the playerbase shouldve dropped seeing as we havent had any new content in 4 months compared to the usual 2, and that was an original killer everyone hated like kaneki. I wouldnt worry about stranger things changing anything as steve/nancy/jonathan/demogorgon have been "just another bunch of characters" for years. Heres to hoping they get an "update"

I think the story conclusion was great, I loved it. The season itself wasn't perfect of course. Dialogue was at its weakest imo and alot of overexplaining and dumbing things down to the audience (looking at some responses online though maybe it needed dumbing down afterall).

Need to remember that the internet is powered by bots and ragebait and negativity in this day and age. I've learned to watch and judge things myself before listening to noise.

Idk know how they could make Jason exciting and interesting to play as or against though tbh he's just this walking tank maybe if they could get creative with being able to use a multitude of weapons?

Idk but I would say with the new welcome to Derry series I would love for pennywise to come to Dbd with his deadlights

Devs: Were nerfing the Ghoul and making adjustments to what makes him so unfun to go against.

I was satisfied by Steve's ending. So it wasn't him that I was upset about

I'm still waiting for Springtrap x Ghoul 2v8 teamup

inb4 Ghoul is bad and I should feel bad, Ghoul in 2v8 is more tame than Legion.

I don't have Netflix so I've only seen a recap of season 1 and saw the final was full of plot holes. Fills so weird we're gonna have 2 Vecna now it feels like 2 different versionsof the same character. Isn't the ST Vecna just their version of DnD Vecna? Feels like ST Vecna could've just passed as a skin for DnD Vecna.

For other content the only thing I have left that interest me is other FNAF content (Where's Foxy?) and the Predator.

i disagree. i think it's a very good question to ask and i'm glad you made a thread about it.

realistically, player retention is kind of up in the air right now. on one hand the residual hype may be able to be carried over depending on how BHVR handles the momentum of successful sales, but on the other hand you still have the shadow of the player experience that may, or may not, drive players to stick around.

i would assume BHVR's next move would be to try to soften the experience through game modes or events to give an incentive to participate longer and explore while things are discussed behind the scenes. that's something i would do as a developer at least.

When you are burned out playing survivor you play killer and the opposite. Then we get a new 2v8 which is fun and chaos shuffle is fun. Then new rifts where you have to play the game to get everything and when you want to collect things this keeps you going. And later new killers and survivor arrives with new perks and so on. The constant changes makes you continue to play like strong perks being nerfed and bad perks getting buffed so you can have new builds to play around with.

Remember even people complaining all the time still continues to play so they still like the game.

No, he's definitely not the same thing.

It'd be like if we got the DND Demogorgon vs the ST Demogorgon. One is an animal and the other is a Prince of Hell, iirc.

I think personal enjoyment will keep people. The game is buggy yes and it's not in an amazingly balanced state, especially at higher MMR, but the game is still honestly a blast to play. I enjoy playing the game and booting it up everyday. The game play loop and the mechanics aren't an issue for me, it's mainly the people you play with. Most the time other survs who just give up at 5 gens or are being toxic for no reason. Always makes the game less fun. Other than just people being ######### in game I enjoy the game and honestly have a great time playing when the game is played the way it's suppose to be. Plus I'm feeling like Elevens perks are gonna be pretty good, if not borderline overpowered on release and people will have a good time playing with them until the eventual nerf. Also, if new Vecna has a good power and is a good balanced power level he'll probably have a good chunk of players stay.

If you're feeling burnout then try switching which role you play or hop onto a different game for a week to build up that want to play again. I know that I regularly take week long breaks from games I've been slamming to hard and it always helps me with wanting to play them again.

I know nothing of these 2 characters they clearly don't look alike but aren't they both suppose to represent the same DnD character?

Kinda feels like HillBilly and Leather Face. Both characters share a lot of similarities but are still clearly different.

The kids in ST just name the monsters after DND characters. They don't necessarily have anything in common.

It's easier to think of the Stranger Things villains as homages to DnD villains rather than variations/interpretations of them.

If you decide to look at the series from a wider perspective, certain plot progression elements and metaphors cast the Stranger Things Villains in the same sort of role as their DnD counterparts, but they themselves are not related to their namesakes in any direct way.

The kids in the show are massive DnD fans, and when faced with these unknown eldritch creatures they just attach their own names to them. They learn later that Vecna's real name is Henry Creel, so it's possible the devs will use that in game as opposed to 'Vecna'
