Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Nancy's new Face is not OK

first of all her hair is too loose on the side with the clip — it needs to be tighter if you really want to capture that iconic nancy look. the middle part is supposed to form a slight widows peak on the left (her left not ours) her hair also lacks highlights on the ends of her hair, also taking away from that iconic nancy look.

her eyebrows are too horizontal, and lack emotion, whilst also being too far down — along with her eyes, making her face look droopy and pudgy, and her forehead too big — forehead is generally just too big. i feel like her face needs risen a bit or her hairline brought forward.

you've also gave her what is known as pillow face when you receive too many fillers and botox injections. making her look (to me anyways) more like Ash Williams long lost sister. she is not chubby and her facial features are not as prominent as they should be. she has a super defined face, why are we softening these features? please for the love of god fix these cheeks.

her eyes need to be rounder and hers skin tone needs to be made paler. she is not orange. oh and her eyelashes (minor detail i know) but nancy has super long eyelashes, they look raggedy and small on her rework.

Her face is growing on me in-game, but if her scan is not in the cards, let's hope Behaviour considers commissioning a Portrait Likeness Artist for a slight tweak.

That photo reference can help even on the low-poly mesh. Look at the size difference of those Orbicularis Oris, and the plane change between the Masseter, her Zygomatic Bone and Zygomatic connection to her nasolabial fold. The shape of that triangle shadow right there could be closer.

Did they actually lose the rights to the actress's likeness? This looks more like a couple characters from Black Phone than Nancy in Stranger Things.

a lot of people did want her face to be reworked and visually updated though. We just didn’t know what we were asking for.

People have been complaining about her looks for years. Now, this rework may be bad, but pretty sure it's not because they lost the rights, just… They seem to be unable to properly model her? I don't know.

yeah, in the lead up to chapter 2, a lot of people were hoping for updated nancy and steve visuals. Just because you didn’t see it and were unaware didn’t mean there weren’t discussions about it.

She looks like she smells something gross. Not a fan of the new look at all. Will be super bummed if this gets pushed through to live.

I just checked for myself on the ptb and she actually looks great from the side! 100% Nancy.

And then you turn her around to face you and you go 'oh… oh no'.

yeah, i saw a lot of people asking for this. they've just strayed too far from the original i think

It's only a theory so far people have. I personally doubt they lost anything and think they just kinda didn't get it completely right with this one.

Edit: They definitely didn't lose the likeness, it's just the lobby that doesn't do it any favor. Someone actually made a comparison between the old and new face and it does look like the actor.

They really need to revert the face back. I have no idea how they mentioned to make her look horrible.

It definitely looks like they kept her likeness. They just need to tweak how she looks in lobby cause I guess that lighting is the culprit.

My money is on the facial rig being the issue. Similarly to Rick Grimes and his facial rig.

Ewwwwwwww! No no no. Please change it back. Yes we wanted an upgrade to her visuals but NOT this. She looks like she is made out of filler or wax as Sogo pointed out.

Has anyone taken any screenshots in game of it? The lobby animations usually break faces, it took them years to finally fix Cybils for example.

Oh, she needs and deserves more than that. Such a beautiful actress, and still hasn't had her face properly modeled in DBD :/

Dear BHVR, I'm sure that if you ask, many experienced modelers from the DBD community will help you model her face properly. And while you're at it, please for the love of god, fix Chris Redfield's face, it's been wrong since he was added to DBD.

Please bhvr, add the likeness, that is not nancy, we appreciate you going back to update her, but please do it right. Maybe even help Jonathan Byhers, he looks so off too and he is a legendary, those skins aren't cheap.

Ive noticed that whoever does the face modeling in this game does not know how to make faces look similar to real actors or even reference material like richter couldve looked more like he did in smash bros. Unless they have a model they take from another game and work with that, the characters end up looking off or wrong or ugly or weird somehow.

Im not sure if dbd is compatible with the technology they use for actors faces in other games like mortal kombat as an example, itd make things much easier if they did and they could hire someone that does faces better.

I personally like Nancy's new face.
The skin is well drawn, and the texture of skin and hair quality seems to have improved. I think she looks pretty.
Especially compared to the old model.

The only thing that bothers in new model me is her squint.

I like her rework a lot. She looks much better and I’m actually considering playing her more now with the new face. The hair looks a lot better as well. Going back to her live server look was a bit of a shock haha

Agreed. The main issue I see is that her cheeks are too puffy and her jawline is just gone. Please reconsider this design bhvr.

Please, just make her nose and cheeks less puffy and fix all her hairstyles since they make her look bald !

I am one of the few who likes Nancy's new face. Back then she looked like gigachad. Now she looks more petite.

Te irony is that no one is talking about the real problem, which is Robin's size. She is freaking HUGE. Almost bigger than Steve.

some things are better, but as a nancy player myself it definitely missed the mark.

Honestly, this is the best iteration but I don't see Behavior having the graphical quality to make it in game.

Such a bad form of her face and I say this as a person who loves to play as Nancy.

Even in the portrait version you provided, it seems to have a more clean, rendered version of her face.

The cheek bones are too puffy, her nose is a bit expanded compared to the old version too. In the lobby, she doesn't look like Nancy Wheeler, which is disconnecting compared to the efforts they did with the Walking Dead characters.

This is NOTTTTT my Nancy, I really hope they fix the face because it CANNNOOOOTTTTT GO LIVEEE PLEASE!!

Looking over some of these recreations and ways to fix her face, they look soooooo good!! Would love to see any of these in the live game, they're so much better than the PTB and truly look like Natalia. Also, I'm pretty sure they still have her likeness, Natalia literally has a body-pillow of OG Nancy that they gave her. I wouldn't understand nor do I feel it would make sense her taking the likeness away.

Agreed! The new method for making hair is a bit horrendous, and I appreciate the work put into trying something new but it simply just looks bad. On low graphics, her hair looks see-through and she looks bald! This also goes for some of the other survivors, like Ada's RE4 Outfit hair and Vee's hair! Even on ultra, without their anti-aliasing, the hair still looks see-through/patchy.

Thank you for confirming that our feedback is being heard.

I wanted to build on that with a specific, forward-looking suggestion that I believe would be a win for all — the developers, veteran players, and new players — in situations like this.

The game has a vast amount of cosmetics and characters, and visual updates will always be a matter of personal taste. While I sincerely hope the revised model turns out great, what I know for certain is my own attachment: I love the 2019 version of Nancy. I've been seeing this character exactly like this for almost 7 years now.

Therefore, while there's still time before the old model is potentially retired, could I humbly suggest implementing a "Legacy" tag or variant system?

This would give players a simple choice. Those who prefer the updated, higher-fidelity model can use it, while those who wish to keep the familiar face they've known for years can do so. This approach doesn't remove anything from the game or harm its visual cohesion — the old model has coexisted just fine until now. This would not only fix the current issue but also set a positive standard for any future visual updates, giving players choice and avoiding disappointment.

This idea could be taken even further. For example, some of Nancy's existing cosmetics already change her hairstyle. A long-term improvement to the cosmetic system, such as separating hairstyles from the head model into their own slot, would allow players to pair their preferred face (legacy or new) with any desired hairstyle. This would not only solve the specific issue with Nancy's legacy look but also grant all players much greater freedom to mix and match cosmetics across the board.

The core request remains: please, don't completely remove the option to use her original model. Giving us that choice would mean the world to many long-time players.

    Thank you.
