What should actually be considered "winning" in DBD?
For ME personally, earning a pip is a win. I don't always have to escape or get a 4k. But when you play well enough to earn pips, the game is pretty much saying you should be playing with/against higher ranked players. But that's just my take. I'd like to know what you guys think. There are a lot of players that take this game super seriously whether youre a killer or surv main. But is this game really balanced\consistent enough to be considering escaping or 4 kills a win? Im a killer main and theres too many factors to sweat past. I gotta hope I picked the right killer, perks, addons, and hope my picks get a good map and counter 4 other survs. At that point… I cant pressure myself to win when the odds have a chance to stacked against me. The worse the odds, the more I gotta tunnel, camp, and slug.
So once again, for me personally, earning a pip is enough. I dont have to sweat as bad (until I hit red ranks) to win.
Thoughts??

For me personally as a survivor a win for me if the majority of team mates get out even If I get sacrificed.
I like to play Altruistic especially when its comes to end game, ill try to save someone on hook even if others have left in end game (outside of insta downs ofc) and don't mind dying if someone else survives or if I've distracted the killer enough to help the other be able to escape.
In terms of what should be considered a win for MMR purposes needs to be way more nuanced then it is currently,
For survivors escape should be a factor but it should take into account chase time in the match as well as time spent on gen repairs if they are pumping them out.
For killers same thing, Kills should be a factor but it should also take into consideration hook states count and how quickly the match ended (eg was there 5 gens left or was it end game with no ed)1 -
For me, depends on if im doing a challenge. if im doing a challenge then i win when the challenge is done. If not then a survivor win is when i escape and killer win is 3/4k depending on how im feeling at the time.

If I can go 2 trials without someone being camped/tunneled/slugged excessively. Otherwise I close the game.

3k and ideally a 4k is a win for me i don't consider a pip a win since i remember the time where the emblem system dictated mmr and pipping was just a checklist not particularly fun for me

As survivor, if I escape, or I'm directly responsible for multiple others escaping.
As killer, 2 sacrifices.

So you don't really play DBD? 😜 In all seriousness, having consecutive matches in which everyone plays in a good sporting nature makes the game so much more enjoyable

Survivor: As long as one of our team gets out alive.
Killer: As long as I get a good number of hooks (between 6 and 8?)
…then I feel good about my performance. I don't really think about "wins" or "losses".
If I did, it would just be based on kills. 3k+ is a win for killer, 2k is a tie, anything else is a survivor victory.

Back when I played Killer, I enjoyed hooking different Survivors and seeing how my build played out. Getting a number of hooks felt satisfying, especially when the team kept playing until the end and not giving up. 4K felt good, but not really rewarding for the amount of stress.
When I play Survivor, some matches are genuinely challenging, mostly against Killers I struggle against or who give me the hardest time.-1
