PLEASE revert the new survivor voices
I cannot stress this enough, they sound nothing like the original characters, especially Steve but Jonathan and Nancy and downgrades too. You can keep their spoken dialogue but please revert their screams/grunts of pain. I didn't pay $15 for Jonathan to sound like this

Please bring back Steve's old scream :(

Best change they could have done. Steves with Scene Partner were only annoying, it was not even funny anymore when every Steve was doing the same stuff.

Nooooo

Yeah just tried playing him too. If you won't bring back Screamin' Steven, please give the voice to a future character.
It was silly and fun!
Post edited by Balrog on1 -
Maybe if your ideal gameplay revolves around making the opposition as irritated as possible, you shouldn't play!

Someone in the dbd discord is putting out a petition to sign for them to revert Steagull, it'd really funny.
I havent gotten to play yet but based off of Steve's new scream, they do need to change it back

Thank God and I hope it never comes back.

Please bring back his original scream, this is so sad!!
Post edited by Balrog on11 -
This is devastating. Why on earth would they change this? Did some suit at Netflix twist their arm? I loved playing as Scene Partner Steve! His silly little scream was one of the little things that make this game enjoyable at those time when it's not very fun. Made me care less about being tunnelled out.
It would be fair enough if they'd actually got Joe Keery in to voice him but it sounds like they cheaped out and got a soundalike instead.

Good, I'm glad it's changed
The Stevegull joke was funny exactly once, every single time I've seen a Steve with Scene Partner after that I've been annoyed by it
Post edited by Balrog on-12 -
nancys model should be reverted as it is a lot worse and bring back steves scream

I played as Vecna and I noticed Nancy’s voice has changed
Why did they change the voice??

Bring back Steavegull!!
Post edited by Balrog on8 -
I didn’t mind her old voice either tbh.
Post edited by Balrog on4 -
I think her new voice is a lot better, it sounds just like Natalia Dyer in my opinion. Plus, overall her new look is amazing too, I'm happy with how they did her,

rest in peace, Stevegull.
you will be missed.
Everyone, can we have an “Ah!” for Stevegull?2 -
I prefer Lisa and Sheva anyways i just wish I could afford saga and rose...

I'll be for real, as much as it was a beloved voice, I'm kinda glad they changed it as I very much find his old voice so annoying especially combined with scene partner
-2 -
If at least the new voice sounded MORE like Steve, it'd make sense, but this change is absolute nonsense. Revert, revert, revert.

How much longer must we wait until voice lines can be disabled? This is the worst chapter to date. Balancing issues aside this is the most annoying killer released with its endless quips and map wide monologuing. Even worse the ST characters yap into each other and even though I'm playing a different character I'm somehow still forced to be a 3rd wheel in their conversations? As far as I'm aware they didn't even aquire the original actors for the voices, so who exactly is this meant to appeal for?
This is completely corny and tonally different than the game I started playing years ago. I miss the nihilistic atmosphere of characters not being able to speak. Completely boring release, please alleviate. I have zero desire to play as or against these characters in this state.
Please seriously consider a Voice Line Toggle.

So Nancy got double punishment, heh? Rough.

The new screams are such a huge downgrade to Steve. Steve was such great character because of the screams and now he just makes a boring „huu huu“.
I‘m so disappointed.

No more.....stegull?
What am I supposed to do now
Post edited by Balrog on23 -
I don't mind it at all thankfully. I enjoy character dialogue. It wouldn't hurt to have a toggle though.
Post edited by Balrog on4 -
especially when bootleg Vecna just has lines that are just copied from actual Vecna, but more annoying.
The Walking Dead had characters act like they were taking from that world and put here, now Steve asks "uhh anyone here have superpowers?" as if he is in a bad Marvel skit
Post edited by Balrog on5 -
I don't think the voices are bad, but i get why people are sad they don't have them anymore. People loved to meme with them
I'd understand if BHVR wanted this chapter to be more serious, but the bad animations and jank should probably be targetted first lol since it affects all survivors0 -
Real screamers were playing Lisa Garland anyway.
Post edited by Balrog on8 -
behavior please change the new steve screams. its terrible that he sounds like that. i have no problem that there are new voicelines but why change the screams?? steve was such a good character to play with but now he just sounds odd. bring him back
2 -
I like the lines in lobby. Not a fan of them during matches
Post edited by Balrog on5 -
I like the voice lines, personally. But a toggle to disable them for the peope that don't would be a good feature.
When BHVR do get the genuine actors in to record lines for the game it can really add authenticity and value to the experience of playing as them. Alan Wake, Nic Cage and Chucky are so much better with the voice lines than without.
But then you have cases like the new additions for Stranger Things (no disrespect to their VAs), but it really kills the experience of playing these characters because it's so obviously not them. It really takes you out of it. Plus, there's no consisentency. Ash should have voice lines in the trial. The Rain skin that I paid £15 for should have voice lines in the trial too, not in the lobby where I'm probably no going to hear them very often because the queues are either too fast or too slow (and I've gone to make myself a cup of tea). Rain's VA is not Cailee Spaeny but she is pretty close!
I think I read somewhere that they might add voice lines for the original survivors one day. I don't know what I'd do if they gave my girl Meg a voice I just couldn't stand.

My steagull :(

Yes, there should 100% be a toggle. For me voicelines on Characters really kill the enjoyment to play them, especially when they are bad. Like, I hate Orela just for her stupid voicelines. No offense against the actor, but the person who wrote that stuff. Even worse that you hear it when you are not playing her.
Ideally I would like to have a Toggle for each character, since I do like Voicelines on some characters. E.g. I like Wesker or Unknown very much. But if the only possibility would be to have a Toggle for on or off for all characters, I would be totally fine with having it off for all of them.
"When BHVR do get the genuine actors in to record lines for the game it can really add authenticity and value to the experience of playing as them."
Only if done properly. The TWD-Characters are atrocious, since the celebrity voice actors are not forced to do Grunts of Pain or Screams. And therefore with the TWD-Characters you have the original Actors doing the voicelines and other people doing screams and grunts. And it is sooo bad. Really killed those characters for me and I was actually planning to P100 them, but now I am just salty that I paid 15 Bucks for the Daryl-Skin.
"I think I read somewhere that they might add voice lines for the original survivors one day. I don't know what I'd do if they gave my girl Meg a voice I just couldn't stand."
Yes, read this as well. And already dreading the day it will happen (and it will happen, because they believe that everyone loves Voiceliens). Might make me uninstall the game if there is no toggle to silence the characters again.

This is Hella disappointing to me too

his new screams are so bad, and he is way too quiet. His screams need to be changed again.

It's even more heartbreaking now that I've learned that Robin has a pretty funny sounding scream that goes really well with Scene Partner. Imagine old Steve and Robin both with Scene Partner in the same trial. It would be so funny.
Why do you do these things, BHVR? 😥
Post edited by Balrog on7 -
dont tell me they ######### changed steve?? he was the best thing about dbd in a long time. The only thing i actually enjoyed was hearing his screams when i played.
Post edited by Balrog on3 -
Incorrect. No nerf will ever come close to the butchering Skerchant got.
Yes, Stevegulls nerf is a tragedy, but it’s far from the worst.
Post edited by Balrog on-11 -
No nerf comes close to when Pyramid Head got his butt size reduced. :(

I will say this once again, good, I'm glad it got changed, Stevegull was funny exactly once, hearing the exact same joke repeated so many times it unironically reaches into the quadruple digits isn't funny, it's obnoxious, especially when said joke's entire punchline is "Hey aren't Steve's screams incredibly loud and jarring for no reason? Isn't that funny? Wouldn't it be funnier if I combined it with Scene Partner to constantly bleet out the same 3 voiceclips over and over and over and over again every single chase? Isn't that funny?!"
The joke is dead, my ears and my patience are glad it's dead, and may BHVR do the same to the rest of the incredibly grading screams some of the Survivors have so that the joke never comes back.

i don’t want steve’s old screams back, but his new screams especially on the hook are down right terrible. I don’t know what has happened to the audio department but its just not well done at all.
Post edited by Balrog on-1 -
Thank you BHVR, its about time. Curious if it will make a difference to the people that usually lobby dodge because there is a steve in the lobby. Hopefully less dodging and more playing.
Post edited by Balrog on-6 -
I get the joke, but imagine if we got actual volume normalization and/or rebalancing instead? Almost like was promised for survivor voices in particular years ago. We could fix the issue for everyone at the same time if they gave an intern a small bonus and a copy of audacity for a weekend.
Post edited by Balrog on1 -
Im more interested in killer powers being balanced than audio volumes tbh
Post edited by Balrog on0 -
And thats a lot more complicated than spending a few hours doing a normalization pass in even amateur software, so I don't think you're getting my point.
Post edited by Balrog on-2 -
Why did you guys change Steve's scream? His scream is a staple within DBD and you guys took that away from us. Please put his screams back!!😡
