Should perk tiers be removed?
in a post made by @CountOfTheFog talking about their QOL wishlist for this year, they mentioned removing tiers from perks. Perk tiers really don't have a reason to exist in DBD other than to just spend more in the Bloodweb. I think streamlining perks to have their full effect off the rip when you unlock them when be a massive QOL improvement as you have to dont have to spend 3 mil bloodpoints everytime a new character comes out to get the full effect of their perks.

I think one of the original team members from BHVR talked about this a while ago.
If I remember correctly, perk tiers can't be removed because they're apart of the foundational code that keeps DBD together.
Well they can be removed, it would just require a lot of time & effort.
Probably like, Dead by Daylight 2 levels of effort.

I wasn't aware of this severe complication.
Always felt this suggestion was one of the biggest possible anti-grind idea we don't have, but yikes the game code strikes again. 😕

Kinda funny that perk tiers are a load baring wall and if we get rid of tiers it all destroy dbd as we know it

DBD perk tiers is like the TF2 Coconut JPG, remove it and everything crumbles i guess.

This is true, but I feel like there's a way they can code a workaround so you get the level three versions of the perk without needing to get the level one or two versions, and then they can replace the tiered Ui design with the regular design of the perk.
All the tiered coding is still there, but functionally players would be jumping to the highest tier without needing to access the previous levels. Maybe not the cleanest fix, but nothing in DBD is.

yes the tiers should be removed from pubs at least, should be viable for customs tho, and for rank dbd if bhvr ever made official dbd rank(not discord rank).

I don't think they need to be removed, but I wish just buying character would unlock their perks for anyone else on T1 (so you don't have to prestige).
I always hated you have to waste so much BP on other survivors/killers, just so you can get a perk on character you actually want to play.
If it just unlocked perks on T1 for every other character, you could put BP to characters you are actually interested in.6 -
Perk tiers is really a none issue today. Could they get rid of them? Yes. But it would take more effort than any benefit gain to us. The perk tiers today is just to incentivise playing the character.
Before the bloodweb rework I was onboard removing them as they were a big factor to the grind. Now with the way bloodwebs work, not an issue.

Technically they can be removed, because Perk Tiers are pointless nowadays. My favourite example for that is always Rookie Spirit when I get it in Chaos Shuffle. The Perk has a weak effect and yet it requires you to hit Skill Checks and the only reason why it has this activation requirement is because otherwise it would not have anything you can use for Perk Tiers.
But on the other hand, if it requires effort, I dont think it is needed to remove them. With how easy the grind is nowadays, it does not matter if there are Perk Tiers or not.

I really wish they'd remove perk tiers but I'd be lying if I said a little piece inside of me wouldn't die if they did that. I've spent way too many bloodpoints getting every killer to P3.

To be fair, there have been multiple instances in the past where they changed something and some other thing which was completely unrelated to it was affected by it.
So I would not be surprised if the game would implode if you remove Perk Tiers.

I'd love to see the perk tiers removed. My dustin is prestige 2 and i still only have tier 1 lithe 😑 haven't seen it in the bloodweb once. If you've been playing a long time you end up with so many bloody perks that trying to get the ones you actually want takes forever.
I don't pretend to know much about coding but i can't imagine it'd be that difficult to give people all of their unlocked perks at tier 3. We get access to every perk at tier 3 in customs, so i can't see why there isn't a work around to apply something like this to pub games. Maybe tier all unlocked perks to each individual characters prestige. So if i have feng at prestige one, her perks are unlocked for dustin. Then it i get dustin to prestige 3 it bumps her perks up to tier 3 for him.

I feel that's a poor excuse though, I feel the excuse is more they want it to be bloodweb bloat. They made this excuse for other things they've changed too.
