Good First Steps For Nerfing Blight
This seems to be a hot topic in the community again, so I figure I may as well air my own thoughts.
When it comes to nerfing Blight, my personal philosophy were I put in charge would be to first sand down the rough edges where Blight can get too much in comparison to other killers before looking at actually weakening his power directly.
So, the first step should be lighter touches, and then Blight should be monitored in preparation of future changes to address any remaining problems. I'd pitch something like…
- Make Blight 4.4ms/110% (+ making whatever adjustments are needed to ensure his Rush speed isn't lowered too)
- When Blight kicks a pallet, he loses two tokens
- When Blight is stunned, he loses all tokens
These three changes in combination with one another would, I think, be the best first step.
Making him 110 isn't a huge change on its own, but it does further incentivise learning the correct use of his power, and it also heightens the impact of the other two changes- survivors would actually be gaining some distance after dropping a pallet if Blight has to walk at a slightly slower speed for a few seconds before Rushing at them, and ditto for a successful stun, which should be far, far more rewarding than it currently is.
It's a minor point, but I also think the stun change is nice for making Blight slightly less of a potent tunneller since DS in specific would be more useful against him.
The goal here isn't to nuke Blight into oblivion, but I think we should all be able to agree that Blight needs to lose something in order for him to be more fair, because he currently really isn't. Changes like this would preserve what makes Blight fun and engaging to play while lowering the ceiling of what he can achieve in some specific scenarios.

4.4, lose two tokens and remove his speed add ons. That would be enough to keep him still insanely strong while limiting him in lethality.

Good changes. Additionally I‘d like seeing the pallet break via his power removed. He doesn‘t Need it.

I would be fine with 110% and losing tokens on pallet break.
Not really losing all tokens on stun, that sounds terrible along with combination you walk slower…
If you want that against tunneling, it would rather be interesting change for DS to fully reset killer power.1 -
I would rather there only be only one change : All tokens are lost when breaking a pallet. Because he will recover 2 pretty fast and he is faster than ghoul short term because he has no power to charge and no perceivable acceleration either.
Not a huge fan of making him 4.4m/s but i can see why people want it. I just don't want him to feel helpless when he's not using his power.3 -

Still way better than now... Should be often enough to reach pallet/window. You pretty much set it so it's same as when he uses his power to destroy pallet, which seems good enough for me.
Thing is you often can't really avoid destroying pallets, especially when it really likes to destroy the pallet even while survivor is vaulting it.1 -
Well it depends on the map and i don't see 2 being enough on the average map

It's not just for tunnelling, it's also so pallets are something Blight at least conceptually needs to be worried about. Having to wait for your power to come back would make being stunned very undesirable, as opposed to a minor annoyance.

Both Blight and the highest potential of generator speed builds need to be nerfed.
The major difference between them is that Blight, in general, is more common and more accessible than these specific forms of genrushing are.

Well, in reality it would be just punishing low ping players, because those are easier to stun…
It doesn't really make sense to me to make Blight 110%, so he has to use power and then create regular situation where he can't use his power.
Yet alone, when you get stun, you lost all your tokens. You won't really be able to mind game most pallets as 110%, so you will have to break the pallet to basically reset your tokens again. That's just not good.1 -
He definitely needs some nerfs, probably in this order:
- His speed add-ons are still too strong. 5% haste for every token used is just way too much. That's like 4 stacks of PWYF that you don't need to earn. They have to be reduced to 1% and 2% OR just remove one of them (ideally rework both). I'm pretty sure these add-ons also let him get crazier hits behind corners.
- His power should be on cooldown after breaking a pallet, just like Ghoul. Most killers have to charge their power to catch up after breaking a pallet (Nurse, Hillbilly, Spirit, Wesker etc) and it's also easier to outplay them (Wesker only has two dashes, Hillbilly has only one etc). Blight presses M2 and immediately starts going at 9.2 m/s with 4 attempts to hit you. Make him lose 2 tokens after breaking a pallet
- His power is lethal in the majority of loops. It's very hard to force a good Blight to chase you without his power. Which means making him 4.4 m/s (110%) is reasonable in exchange for his strong power that can be used for chases and map traversal
