Time To Address Lobby Dodging/Shopping.

Even with the long que times for killer I am having lobbies where the killer is just leaving the lobby, sometimes multiple times.

This causes a few things to happen
- More time spent waiting in the lobby, I spend more times in the lobby itself then looking for a lobby sometimes. (my pb is around 30 mins waiting in the lobby as killer joins and leaves over and over)

- People hiding there profiles leading to more anon players and less of a community feeling in game due to amount of anon players. (I personally played on anon for around 2 years and don't fault anyone for using it while the killer can just browse our profiles)

- Lobbies getting backfilled causing matches to either feel too easy like you are stomping a new player or you are the one being stomped

Ways I would address this

Changes to killer viewing survivors
- Usernames are hidden until the trail starts but anon mode is removed so profiles have to be shown during match and end game

- Globes are not shown until trail starts

- Generic version of survivor are shown to killer to avoid people with rarer skins being dodged (eg meg boop snoot mask, pubg Dwight)

- Items will still be shown as they currently do

- Killer SHOULD be able to see who was in a lobby together during the end screen. (potentially during match in tab screen but I'm not 100% sure on that.)

In regards to a better community feeling I think global pre made messages should be added to starting lobby, that way both sides can send to each other regardless of platform, nothing to extreme just things like "Good luck!', maybe even stickers like a trapper holding a heart or something, positive messages for everyone in the lobby.

This isn't trying to target one side, survivors already have no information on other side so there was nothing to add too, I just want better matches and community for both sides.

So you want to remove the last resort players have to avoid cheaters? Good idea.

So by that logic survivors should be able to see the killers the exact same way so if they are a known hacker they can dodge?

these changes would make it easier to report a hacker and confirm if a hacker is in a lobby with other people and report them too. I have suggested abandon situations in the past to have killers mitigate hacker abuse but defending a outdated lobby system does not help the overall health of the game.

Cheaters will always get into your games, you cant avoid it, any tool you think you can use, can be used against the killer or taken advantage of.

    Dodging anon-mode?, make a ######### username.

Dodging based on profile?, private profile with a random pfp or play on console/epic.

    The list goes on.

I had alot more killers just dodging lobbies when i played in swfs than i ever did randomly getting queued with a cheater.

So you had more killers dodge you because you used external software to gain in-game advantage (i.e. discord) than you encountered players who use external software to gain in-game advantage?

SWF mains are now siding with cheaters out of spite towards killers, the logical conclusion of DbD's community.

Not until the matchmaking system gets fixed and I stop getting paired with literal brand new players with less than 50 hours in every other solo queue lobby.

why pattern recignition doesnt work (or whatever else you think to dodge cheater lobbies)

is apperently defending cheaters while also spewing trash about how swf is cheating, lmao.

this take never gets old, especially considering bhvr already adressed this and said its not cheating. just like any other game.

but, you can stay in denial and keep pretending like you are oppressed over nothing.

I don't like this argument, because that just means players that can spot cheaters or check profiles of cheaters get to dodge them, while newer or less experienced players that aren't able to spot them get into matches with them. They will get into matches either way, and if they wanted to they could just swap to anon mode and regular outfit and get matches where they cheat anyway.

The lobby is an outdated mechanic which only ruins matchmaking and causes problems at this point. It's neat in terms of aesthetics and the vibe of the game for sure, but it's undeniably bad for the gameplay experience. How about we just keep the lobby system for custom games and special modes like 2v8/chaos shuffle, but remove it from the regular 1v4 mode which is based fully on MMR and is where MMR gets updated?

And if cheaters are such a problem that the community has to police it by dodging lobbies, then that should be tackled as a separate issue instead of trying to use lobby dodging as a bandaid. In fact, I'd be all for letting players NOT matchmake against players they've blocked. Then it would be possible at least to some extent for the playerbase to self-police against cheaters by blocking them. If you block too many people and your queue times go up, that'd be on you.

    For your ideas:

    1. The first part is fine but anonymous mode is meant so there's less harassment. I'd propose a compromise of if they're in anon mode they can't interact with the end screen. Can't dish it out if they won't take it as it were.
    2. Fair enough
    3. Would disagree with this one as this IS one of the few ways to avoid idiotic cheats. Besides if the killer would dodge due to a simple skin there's different concerns I have.
    4. Again fair enough
    5. As long as it's the end screen that's fine, though I don't see how this affects lobby dodges. You'd also hurt a LOT of people's egos with this. That's a good thing but just a heads up.
    6. I mean it's worth testing global premade messages but I'm going to be blunt, it probably won't end well with how the community can be.

some people seem to think dbd means dodge by daylight… in my experience, i rather they dodge before the match starts because you just know if 1 little thing goes wrong in the match they will DC or go next. When people are spending more time dodging lobbies instead of playing the game i think its time they found a new game to play

Those on the consoles cannot check for that anyway, and they're more than 70% of the global playerbase.

    Thank you for feedback!

    1. I would be fine with that compromise

    3. I only include skins because i know someone personly who has jake legacy but they get acused of cheating if they run the drip.

    5. Yeah does not affect lobby dodging per say more so included to give killers some new info that they honestly should have in end game screen.

    6. Thats why I think only positive pre made messages should be made so the potiental to abuse it is not there.

if they have a vac ban, they will most likely just have another account and bypass it via family share or 3rd party sellers.
