Should Lightborn be switched to an offering

Lightborn effectively hard counters the flashlight. An item survivors have to spend bloodpoints to get and not just a little if you take into account the pages and pages survivors have to go through to even get that purple flashlight with the visceral odd bulb. Point is there is a limitation to how many you can use.

Killers on the other hand dont have a limit to how many times they can use lightborn because its just a perk they can bring in. Killers also dont like being flashed all the time. Its a bright yellow and red light that may or may not hurt there eyes. I see both sides of it i really do.

So i say The Devs appease both parties here and make lightborn a visceral offering, and remove the aura reading aspect of the perk. What do yall think.

Again this is NOT a nerf if you look at the aspect that killers would be able to run 4 perks WITH lightborn offering and they could not memento mori with light born. It benefits survivors in the aspect that killers have a finite amount of these add ons so they cant run it every game.

I also believe if survivors cannot see the killers power, add ons, and offerings then the killer should not be able to see the survivors add ons but thats a different topic.

    Lightborn stay as a perk

You wanna give killers 5 perks through offerings?

i'm not sure how much it would change to make it into an offering. based on what i'm understanding about your position, it's still going to be a direct counter to the flashlight when it's brought in. the aura reading aspect of it is also negligible in the grand scheme of things, since it requires a survivor to blind you before it even activates. by that time, you may already be in chase with the survivor or still have them in your line of sight.

lightborn is a situational perk, in that it's reliant on survivors actually using flashlights to make sense to bring it. it's meant to protect against the possibility of an offensive blind or a defensive save. changing it to make up for a scenario that happens maybe 3/10 games doesn't make much sense.

How is it clear its in use? do killers wear funny star shaped sunglasses? the only way its clear its in use is if your actively trying to flash a killer and if your using a lower tier flashlight sometimes it takes awhile for that flashlight to even show its on his face, especially new players I cant tell you how many times ive seen new players just sit there trying to flash a killer until they die or until that flashlight runs out.

Lightborn is a survivor perk equivalent to killers not being able to break pallets, or kick generators, or have hex totems. It removes an entire aspect of the game that was put there for survivors to extend chases and save people from being hooked.

If a survivor comes in with a flashlight and say a perkset that is blastmine, flashbang, residual manifest, and champion of light for instance. That survivor just walked into the map with zero perks essentially if the killer is running lightborn. I wouldnt blame this person for just leaving the second the match started. This is the same reason distortion got nerfed to oblivion.

Im not saying the offering idea would be ideal but maybe middle ground because i personally think it should be thrown in the trash but if killers had to compete in there bloodweb for this and mori it would reduce how many moris they got and make them decide whether to potentially waste an offering or not.

It's quite easy to see the beam is not shrinking.

Also comparing Lightborn to restricting killers from kicking is very disproportional. You still can do saves, just not flashlight ones. Pallet saves, Head On, Last Stand, Sabo, ect.

I can see why it would be frustrating to bering a full build that does nothing because of one perk. Unfortunately, that is also part of this game, with a killer example: hexes. One map/Extrasensory Perception/Counterforce and the build is dust.

Yes, it's not 1:1, but it is closer than the aformentioned comparison to disabling kicks.

Also, most people bring Lightborn for full flashlight hobbies, which is rare, so realistically all this'd do is unlock a 5th perk slot for killers.

lets talk about that if a killer is running full hex perks he more than likely is running Hex:Undying which means anyone who tries to cleanse totems is going to be interrupted by the killer. This is nowhere near the same sure survivors can see the totems but the time it takes to run to the totem "if they have a map or a perk that lets them see where it is" and takes 14 seconds to cleanse said totem the survivors have lost valuable time. There is no skill to lightborn and i see it all the time, even when survivors are running all medkits and toolboxes, killers will still run lightborn.

There is no Hard counter that survivors have towards killers the way lightborn hard counters survivors. This is legit the only perks that takes an entire aspect of the game, out of the game
