Please save the flavor text!
The flavor text gives so much personality to the lore of the characters. This is also inconsistent pruning when the decision to keep quotes was made.
Making perks easier to read? Fantastic! Making descriptions shorter? Fantastic! Highlighting status effects for optimal skimming? Fantastic!
Deleting hundreds of sentences that gave personality and flair beyond physical effects? An absolute loss. This makes the effects feel very flat.
Similar to the item UI update with the Mini/Full descriptors, please consider an option for displaying the original effect or preserving the flavor text + quotes in the Extra Info tab.
Many original characters without spoken lines rely on these tidbits to showcase their personality. Many of these characters are preferred by players because you can self insert and truly imagine what they could be like. On that note, we really need a Toggle to disable voicelines! They are a chore to listen to and actively discourage me from playing them. I should also not be forced to listen characters yapping at each other like an unconsenting third wheel. (Looking at you Stranger Things.)

I agree. The flavor text gave the perks uniqueness.
But I guess BHVr does not like that. Because it's one update to make everything generic after the other.

- I imagine the "old-school" description text was also loved by Devs... they never would have done it otherwise. But now, after 10 years, and after about 300 perks, it's starting to feel too bloated with words and unnecessary reading. We're here on the forum, so I imagine we're (more or less) hardcore players... but imagine a new player having to read the descriptions of hundreds of perks; it must be truly overwhelming. I think it's a good change and one that new players will greatly appreciate.

That'd be solved with highlighting the flavor text in yellow, making it italic and telling the players: "Hey, the yellow part is not important, it's mainly decorative. The rest is important."

Getting rid of the flavor text may not be that much of a big deal, but with it gone it takes away some of the games identity. I get streamlining the descriptions but i'm sure nobody is confused about flavor text. I hope BHVR keeps the text around.

Yeah, I too am hoping that these introductory flavour texts are not lost forever.
For those wondering what we're talking about, see for example Dark Devotion:
CURRENT VERSION:UPDATED VERSION:
Although the quote at the bottom is still there, the first paragraph is gone.
I think it would be good compromise to move that flavour text to the Extra Info window. This way, the perk description itself stays clean and to the point, but you can still find this little 'surprise' when viewing the additional info box.4 -
That'd be nice, at least.

I can't help but wonder if this change is needed because kids these days simply lack literacy and attention spans. this has never confused me even as a brand new player. I enjoyed absorbing it all.

Please don't remove them.
They add a little bit of character to each perk.

Adding my vote to keep the intro flavour text for perks, too.
The text is typically only a sentence long and even if it's kept, it will still be a huge improvement in readability over what it was like before. Like every one else has said, it's a little something that adds to the character of each perk. The game will become bland without little details like this.

The item rarities, the tomes, the favor text….
We are becoming Fortnite with Slashers pretty fast.
So sad to see the game losing its identity in exchange of nothing, like… they could make a "Legacy" option for those aesthetic changes so older players could still retain the "DBD feeling" those things brought.
I hate when DBD changes not for balance or for quality of life, but just to try to get newer audiences or to follow trends.
