Crawling Up the Corporate Ladder, Tunnel-Recommended Park

Let me be blunt without mincing words: why would anyone come up with such a ridiculous effect?

I've reviewed the reworked “Fast Track” effect and understand it allows the “Brand New Parts” toolbox add-on to be used multiple times.

This means the already fast generator repair speed could potentially become even faster, making it harder for the Killer to wipe the survivors.

So, the only actions a Killer can take to avoid this are crawling or tunneling.

This is because the reworked “Fast Track” grants a token every time another survivor is hooked.
To minimize its impact, the Killer must operate assuming everyone has “Fast Track.”

Therefore, tunneling minimizes the number of tokens acquired.

Assuming all survivors have this perk and the killer executes three hangings, they gain a total of 54 charges (tokens: 6, 6, 6, 9). Even with just one survivor, that's 18 charges.
This number is clearly abnormal. With the current cap on generator repair attempts, defending against generators repaired at this rate is impossible.

So, assuming this perk is active, the killer's strategy to aim for a full wipe would involve tunneling to reduce numbers. Only then, even with the 54 charge cap reduced, does the possibility of a full wipe become visible.

Alternatively, the optimal solution is to prevent this perk from activating in the first place by leaving survivors crawling.

I've consistently advocated for countermeasures against tunneling and crawling stalls, and for reducing frustration. Adding a perk with effects that further encourage tunneling and crawling stalls is something I absolutely oppose.

Fundamentally, if the developers were properly developing DBD or actually playing it, experiencing the current random matchmaking environment, generator speeds, and countermeasures, they would never have conceived of such an effect.

This incident clearly shows that the developers either didn't test this properly, or if they did, they tested it in a peaceful environment different from regular players, resulting in a stark disconnect between their perception and that of the general player base.

The perk is still bad. If you run it you count that you will have bad teammates to perk doing anything. If you manage to get hooks fast as killers they won't be able to finish gens anyway through the pressure only saves and heals, if you struggle to get down the perk does nothing. There are much much better perks that have way less lose-lose requirement while serving at full power all the game. You now have limited tokens that you have to spend on gen where it's worth. In swf nobody will run this perk, in solo q I might see some use, but at best it will be used as often as weaving spiders. Better variants that serve better without conditions:

Bardic + Hyperfocus + Stake Out

    Stake Out + Hyperfocus

    Built To Last + Toolbox

    Overzelaous + Boon

    Prove + Teamwork Perks

    1-2-3-4 + Scavenger + Toolbox

All those combos are way more valuable for survivors.

I really don't understand the controversy around the fast track change

I've been testing it in the PTB and I get faster gens using deja vu and a commodious toolbox then fast track gives.

Fast Track was a really bad Perk before and with the PTB change it is slightly better, but still really bad. At max you can reduce Generators by 18 charges - this is just a little bit more than a BNP while your whole team is dying. Obviously we can now fabricate some unrealistic scenarios in which Gens will be flying with that Perk, but this will not happen in actual gameplay. That is like showing a video of a Trapper downing everyone in 2 minutes and then say that Trapper is OP and needs Nerfs.

Both can happen. But are they actual representations of DBD gameplay? No, not at all.

So yeah, chill a bit with Fast Track. It was buffed, without any doubt. But just because something is buffed does not mean that it will suddenly not be very bad anymore.
