2v8 the juice isn't worth the squeeze

the mode is busted beyond belief on killer side for anyone who doesn't get an indoor map or doesn't use a top tier combo. Seriously, who wants to wait in a lobby for 10+ mins to get gen rushed into oblivion? The bias for the survivor role is absolutely cringe.

If the queue is still half an hour long, then it's not busted enough. I would rather play an unbalanced game than no game at all, if we have to choose.

2v8 is brain off, vibes only mode, tbh. It's hard enough to balance 1v4 to everyone's liking. 2v8 requires just enough to be playable but any further time invested has diminishing returns, because there are just too many variables and the game's mechanics are fundamentally not designed around more than one killer or eight survivors.

Besides, I think a bigger problem in 2v8 is that skill-based matchmaking is thrown out the window. I've had games like you describe. Well coordinated survivor teams with solid mechanical skills spread and gens start flying out.

My only change would be to increase the cooldown on Escapist's sprint burst, or reduce the boost it gives to other survivors.

I can accept that the mode isn't very balanced but it isn't even fun anymore.

Everything that encouraged teammwork between killers has been removed. Team skills on killer powers = removed. Team skills on classes = removed. Then they add strong chase killers that don't need to work with the other killer = Blight, Nurse, Spirit, Wesker, Dracula, Chucky.

Survivor has never really been fun, that's no secret. The amount of unhooking and healing you have to do is very bothersome. It literally feels like a job. It's why the incentive is 3.5x lmao.

First of all, yes the mode is “biased” against killer side because the killer queue times are still ridiculously long. There needs to be even more buffs to survivor side to encourage more players to choose that role. If you don’t like it, I’ll happily take your spot in line to play killer!

I am a very casual solo player and I do just fine as killer in 2v8. I am averaging nearly 7K playing mostly as Wraith. This includes a couple matches where teammate did literally nothing. If a very average player like me can do it, anyone can. But you have to know the right way to play in 2v8.

The key is you can’t commit to chases unless you know you’ll get the down very quickly and you need to move around a lot to harass survivors off of gens, especially in early game. Wraith is very good for doing this, and he’s one of my favorite killers to play anyway, so I usually pick him. What killer(s) are you using?

Survivor is bigger brain turn off like just slap escapis with best exhastion effect in the entire DBD history and run safe loops and you can take so much time from killer that most of them get you when they team up or they just drop chase.

The saving isnt that annoying because it gives great points and escaping here in 2v8 is so easy if you get teammates that jump on gen when they can and sometimes even think a little about which gen they leave to situation when there is just needed 1-2 gens to get gates so killers dont have 5 gen situation (3 gen in 2v8 basicaly).

Killer is lot harder here in 2v8 because you need these top mobility killers in your team to be able to get some kills.

Honestly I complain a lot about DBD. 2v8 is basically perfect IMO. Sure I feel it's survivor sides....esp in big maps... But even then....points are good...it's super challenging as a killer...lots of hooks and chases. Occasionally you get stuck on a bad survivor team with people just unhooking, or hiding etc. The only thing I wish they would add is the pips . I like those extra blood points on the 13th.

I still don't understand why so many people think 2V8 is Survivor-sided. On paper, I guess you could argue that it should be. But in reality it's the SoloQ experience turned up to 11. It's half the lobby fighting to do the last 2 gens while the other half waits for their team to die so they can get hatch. It's 4 Survivors running across the map to uncage one Survivor. It's double the number of Survivors bringing double the number of Killers over to sandbag your gen. It's dying because someone thinks looping with friends is a good idea. It's an imbalanced, chaotic mess with next to no match-making but that's also what makes it fun and unpredictable. It's also fun because frustrations like slugging and tunnelling are less common, nobody really takes it seriously and both sides get lots of broken toys to play with.

The only thing it's missing imo is more Killer/Class variety (#bringbacklegion) and a big enough DBD player base to justify bringing it back more regularly.

I'm a survivor main who plays mostly friendly killer in 1v4. Hook everyone twice and let them go except in 2v8 everybody can get it. Anyway, I play one of the weakest killers in that mode' Trapper and my Buddy plays Tiffany. We are still out here making these survivors sweat. Only one game on a massive map with a six man swf did we get 8 outed but almost everyone was on death hook so that was good enough for me. 2v8 has a learning curve and those who learn it almost never lose. For killer you can't commit to super long chases. Injure and move on if they get to a safe and strong pallet set up and seem to know how to run it. Ignore the flashlight clickers and tbaggers. They want your chase and to waste your time. Catch them later out of position. You're going to lose gens early on if you're a set up killer like Trapper. I decide early which gens I won't let them have. Naturally a lot of teams go for the outskirt gens, on one side or on safer elevations. Peeves me off as survivor to see theater gen or dead dog saloon gen done first but its a boon as killer. I never chase or patrol those. I want my gen spread to be left close together. This nearly always gets our team a 'win'. Also I play with the mindset that if I get everyone or not I'm satisfied if I had good chases, a generous amount of hooks and had several people step in my traps. I play to improve and for fun with my friend. It's a lot to juggle but don't let ambition for an 8k spoil the game for you.

I agree with everything you said except for Legion. Mending Simulator 2.0 can stay in limbo for all I care, but I second and third your opinion about 4 survivors running for saves- OR no one going for saves. Don't forget its 6-7 survivors doing all gens on one side immediately while dooming the team to a one-sided standoff trying to get the last 1-2 gens done in no man's land. While 2 survivors on death hook cleanse totems and open chests looking for keys. It's sighing and wanting to DC (but not) on RPD each and every time. It is chaotic and I love and hate that about this mode.

there are so many things in this mode that are absolutely nonsense. For an example, who the hell thought it was a good idea at endgame to spawn hooks near the exit gate and also allowing free BT out of cages at endgame? Both of those give free escapes. Like I pointed out the juice isn't worth the squeeze, why play this crap if the devs purposely stack the odds against you from the start?

The gen speed, if the devs want to keep the speed the way it is, then things need to change. What I would propose is at endgame if all gen's are complete NOED needs to be active for all basic and special attacks.

Let's cut the bullshit across the board. The reason Legion was kill switch was because too many survivor players bitched about it and they got their way. I personally, didn't like going against Legion because it was annoying, but I also didn't want them removed from the mode.

Yes, I know it is brains off. It's easy mode, just like a good 90% of 1v4.

Personal anecdotes are the exception to the rule. I have been playing since Nov 2017 bub.

ngl i like 2v8 for one reason and one reason only is to complete the impossible tome challenges for example in the last page of tome one it says get 4 safe unhooks that may sound easy but it is ridiculously hard but in 2v8 you have 2x more teammates who sell the game a lot so more safe unhooks win win
