Fun Interactions!
Back at it again with a discussion thread to fuel why we love this game. Stop by, take a seat, and have a break from balance discussions for a moment.
I think micro-moments in this game are one of the main things that keeps people coming back. There is fun in the macro game, juggling and balancing multiple things, planning/predicting and getting great outcomes, but what keeps me playing are those little interactions that give the game/players so much personality.
We've all had a game with a cute Pig demanding boops or presents. Even nowadays the occasional memester will force us to crack a smile. My last one I was SoloQ, spread out from the start, grabbed middle gen and got to work. Didn't see the pig, saw a brief chase on a distant teammate but it was over quick. Noted none of my teammates were on a gen so presumed they were being zoned away or playing for stealth. Only for me to look down Hawkin's corridor and see a very distant silhouttte of a crouching Pig, leading a conga line of my three teammates, also crouching.
I was playing Clown on Ormond. Survivors were split down the middle into two SWFs, two newer players chilling, and two mega-bagging-flashlight-clicking-beckon-emoting juicers. I will be honest, the BM squad were a challenge, but Clown is Clown and you can only bait chase for so long. Eventually, the two sweats were out and the two chill players were death hook. Given the sporting nature of the chill players compared to the mega toxicity of the juicers (this extended to EGC as well) I decided to just practice bottle snipes on them while they finished the last gen and opened gate for them. They seemed new, no need to take away their green toolboxes.
I was being destroyed by a Sable as Springtrap. She looped me for a good long while and ego was keeping me locked in. When I hit an orbital axe over the wall however, I noticed the axe's aura wasn't running away. Instead, Sable walked around the wall and looked at me, nodding her head slowly, before walking to the hook and pointing at it. This giga-player believed I earned the hook for that. The game ended up as a 4E but it was a good time with good sports and a pleasant EGC to boot.
What are your recent stories of memery, sick plays or good sportsmanship?
What reminds you what you love about this game?

Well I been working my way up to p100 Unknown and i say my best thing i ever done with him was playing Fake Hallucination Trolling. Its so funny when they start not trusting my Hallucinations. Its not about winning its just getting reactions out of them.
I also like playing Sniper Unknown as well

I've yet to pull off Insidious trolling correctly, Unknown or not.
Is there a strat I'm missing? Every time I've tried it it's resulted in a 3-4E with me getting found out before my planned jumpscare could bear fruit. :(

All you do it. It has to after you start placing Hallucinations. And normally place urself obviously placed but also enough they will try removing it. Once there close enough swing at them and rinse and repeat. You will lose Gens so dont expect to win ur matches. Its only to troll

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to win any more than I would when I try to 360 every shot as Slinger. I just never get the spook I want. :(
Thank you though. I'll try and play a bit more patiently and see if I can give someone a scare.0 -
It always makes me laugh when I have a glyph to get and a Killer stops the chase so I can pick it up before we resume. 😂

I've got a few memorable stories tho most are on killer and ive been playing since myers chapter.
On survivor however the most memorable thing was introducing my duo to the game around the time Sadako released. She started on xbox and strictly played feng min. The most common mistake she made was not looking around when doing generators, so id be on one with her with my main rebecca, and everytime we had a stealth killer this exact scenerio would happen: id see the killer coming and start running, and shed stay there like "where are you going?" And id be like "the killer's behind you!" And shed actualy say "WHERE!?" just before always going down lol. It happened so often i took some cutouts of the ochido "funny dbd videos" art and made my own desktop background out of it.
As for some killer moments
I was playing as myers before the anti hook griefing update, and was in midwich elementary. There must have been some beef between the survivors in the pregame lobby, as there was a meg who just happened to be named "Mikaelas suck at dbd" or something like that, and there just happened to be a mikaela in the group lol. I was struggling to catch mikaela during the round so i later found meg and hooked her upstairs again (2nd hook) and went downstairs to chase someone off a generator. I then heard above me from the bottom floor, someone was griefing meg on the hook, making her scream repeatedly etc.
So i guessed it had to be mikaela. Didnt think much until she also let her die on the hook. Then a switch flipped and i made it my personal mission to avenge meg lol. Eventualy i managed to get to tier 3 right as mikaela opened the door, downed her and then managed to bring her all the way to the basement hooks. Where i proceded to ensure she died at all costs lol. The Claudette saw me camping the stairs down and booked it out the door while the other jill mustve been mikaelas friend as she tried to go save her anyway. I got jill down infront of the hook and then waited for mikaela to die, then brought jill to the door to tell mikaela "i know what you did and i only wanted you" lol. That meg who was spectating still, was extremely happy with the result, and the message lol praising karma and everything.
Another time i was trickster on rpd. Started in the main entrance and started looking for people, couldnt find anybody till i saw sable on the right side balcony generator. Chased her around, got her hooked, went to look for the others.
Couldnt find anybody still, no gens being done, and sable was going onto 2nd hook. So i ran over to her since they recently added anticamp at the time. Got her to unhook herself in stage 2, and then went to leave her alone to look for others again but she stopped me and wanted me to follow her.
She showed me the other 3 survivors were all hiding in the 3 packed together lockers beside the library, literaly leaving her to die and avoiding objectives. So the game turned into an actual 2v3 lmao with sable helping me mow down the other 3 survivors with body blocks n stuff. Once they were dead i was going to give her the hatch but since she was satisfied, she insisted i hook her anyway lol.
Another time I recall a round where I managed to kill all 4 survivors as deathslinger AFTER they were alredy tbagging at the exit gates and without noed or bloodwarden lol. One of the survivors just happened to be directly outside the gate cleansing my 1 totem, mustve thought he had enough time to break it as i managed to pull him off the totem. The chaos that ensued afterwords ended with 2 down 2 on hooks and all 4 of them getting hooked in the end, mostly in part to slingers unique ability to hold someone longer than basekit borrowed time lol. The survivors were like "are you happy now chris?" "Im so sorry guys!"
And most recently during the free weekend i was getting a lot of new players as survivors in my killer lobbies. Like day 1 dwights that take 3 seconds to catch lol. Well i was playing nemisis and had a round with a brand new feng min (which kinda reminded me of my duo). And it was quite obvious she was introduced to the game by her friend who was playing sable, as that sable kept diving infront of feng even on deathhook lol. So i went easy on feng and managed to kill the other 3, thought id give feng a "round to remember" as it were, and pretended to miss with the whip while chasing her around the map hoping shed find the hatch and escape with like a "woo yea i did it!" Moment lol.
Well that hatch was in the worst spot imagineable... after 10 minutes of "pretend chasing" her she caught on and looked at me like "you couldve dropped me 1000 times by now.." so i punched her in the face and carried her around the map for yet another 10 minutes looking for this hatch lol. Eventually found it and let her go. Her sable friend was like "thank you, shes new" and i said "i understood the assignment lol"

Only funny one that comes into mind was last 2v8. Was the last survivor in the match in Lery's dying on the ground while the other killer was waiting for his teammate so they can mori me together. Well recovered to the level to be able to pick myself up but before I did I crawled close to a window while the one that downed me was standing on top of me. Picked myself up, vaulted the window and the killer grabbed me off it causing me to get hooked and not moried. I was laughing just because was not expecting the grab but the thing that got me laugh even harder was the killer who grabbed me to go in end game chat "sorry but he vaulted a window!!!" explaining to the other killer why I ended up on the hook and not got moried. I told the dude I am sorry was not expecting that to happen was thinking more that I try last ditch effort to get some distance to try a hatch escape but as I said that did not happen.
There was other interaction to watch killers deciding who moris me too but those are more like swinging arguments between killers and its sometimes really funny looking when witnessing them as a survivor.
Oh just remembered another one. I play sometimes with a friend he is decent in the game but he has some odd memory issues with this game that he has with no other games. I had looped a killer a while and ended up downed on a pallet that my friend was near. I told him that I am on the pallet and I see him moving to be perfect spot to come from behind the killer to use the pallet to save me. Killer picks up and he just stands there behind the rock. I am godsmacked and go like what are you doing and he goes oh I totally planked out I was coming to save you but some reason did not do what he planned. This is nothing new but it really was me yelling at him while the killer carries me to the hook and I just see his aura and the character head follow me while I get carried away.

I give a lot of mercy hatch and let people go if there's a nasty bit of sandbagging but otherwise I'm not a memey killer. As survivor though, I'm ready to be goofy and make friends at any moment. Occasional friendliness amongst opponents is one of the things that makes the role and the game enjoyable.

As killer I often release survivors who play well and respectfully or i can see are bad/new players. It's generally a fun interaction and helps add good vibes to the game.
2 most recent fun interactions I've had were one as surv against a ghoul. They had me double hooked and found me hiding in a bush injured. We looked at each other and i offered my map, got a little nod, they spared me and the game carried on. Later on, 3 players dead, they took me to hatch. Always nice.
Other one was a demo killer game. Against a full 4 stack team with 3 flashlights. I had to work hard but had the beating of them and had 2 dead and the other 2 double hooked at 2 gens remaining. Their best chase runner was a sable using the ciri skin. She led me on a couple of impressive chases, and was the only member of the team to not bm me. There were 2 hidden offerings so my money was on a hatch offering for shack. I hooked geralt and immediately portaled to shack, lo and behold as soon as he floated up to the entity in the sky the hatch spawned right under me. I slapped the hatch shut and could hear the ciri near me. I downed her and noticed she had a key in her hand, so instead giving her the mori, I picked her up, let her wiggle out, stood back and gave her the nod so she could open hatch with her key.

Aside from that 2v8 match, I was with you for all the other funny moments.
The "Aces in Speedos" squad always won the hearts of the killers. But that Wesker match was genuinely funny, where we let him practice his techs on us

I had a match only a few months ago as Wesker on midwich. It seemed normal at first but I was unable to find anyone for quite some time. That was when I realized that I was being stalked by 4 Claires. I tried to escape them but in true Code:Veronica fashion the Claires overcame me (they trapped me in a corner for a minute). Overall, it was a funny game, and they declared they were called the Clairelings in the end game chat.
Several years ago, I was swfing with some mates and we got a trapper on Hawkins. The trapper was playing normally but when he finally hooked me, he unveiled his plan. He had insidious and hid in one of the side rooms next to hook. I let one of my friends know so they sneaked and unhooked. The trapper sprung and went to come out the door when he stepped his own trap. At his he decided it was too embarrassing and sat in a corner before dcing. Honestly felt bad but in the end, it was a funny moment, the trappers whole plan being destroyed by iri stone.1 -
There've been so few moments lately, probably because I haven't been playing as much. But this is one of the more recent "silly moments" I have…

That Wesker was hella good. The 2v8 one turned on us. His buddy wasn't interested in our nonsense.
These were good times. It's starting to feel like a distant memory with the current vibe.

Really fun read dude. I especially liked the Sable RPD story. I've come across something similar as well. I think it was someone dead-weighting their team by hiding for hatch the moment the game started on Midwich, Feng iirc. They were even tapping an occasional gen just to avoid crows. A Quentin led me to them multiple times, pointing out each locker, each cornermap etc. It was possible they were playing for a hatch escape due to rift pass/archive, but it's kinda rude to drop that on your team's lap. You can just wait for a strong end game and look for it after everyone else has escaped.
(Tbh, objectives like this promote bad teamplay)
I think there is a kind of respect to be given. In the Demo example, you proved to this team you could have had the 4k, but elected not to because the only player left was the one that was polite. I tend to be much kinder to players that don't BM if I'm in a match with serial baggers. The contrast makes me like them more.

I recently had a full Steve Ahoy game. Messed around a bit, then at some point tried to swing at one of them as they plot-twisted and my mori popped. Never felt more guilty.

There was one more i nearly forgot to comment lol
During the anniversary event where ghost face and feng min got full anniversary outfits, i was playing as ghost face and had a funny round with a streamer who recorded the whole thing so i got to see her perspective of how much she was laughing for most of the match.
We start out in that mcmillan map and im off to a good start with like 4 hooks still 5 generators left. I hook an ada wong and she starts trying to kill herself like people used to, and the streamer (thalita) runs over to her like what are you doing! And stops her from getting to 2nd stage lol. After seeing that the survivors were starting to give up i switched to friendly killer mode but not before hooking the thalita streamer. I start running around kicking generators and thalita tries to kill herself too saying "yea i kinda want out of this round too" then accidently pulls herself off and was like "aww cmon of all the times to 4%! I just wanna go next!"
So she sees me running around right after unhooking herself decides to run to me to get me to kill her lol. But by then i was alredy taking things casual and noticing this injured angry thalita coming right for me i start running in the opposite direction. She keeps chasing me and i start looking over my shoulder at her like the rolls are reversed and im the one looping lol she starts laughing as shes chasing me around the whole map with me vaulting windows and looking back at her while running and she eventually chased me into that green dumpster vehicle with the side vault, used her anniversary power to block the window and trapped me in there lol.
So i start running around looking back n forth pretending im panicking until she gets me in the corner and then i just dead stop, look at her and knock her down lol. She found that hillarious. The rest of the round was all fooling around like crouch walking towards eachother from opposite sides of the map only for me to keep going past her and than we did a crouching train and it turned out to be a fun time. The ada died cuz nobody would unhook her after tho for trying to throw the match on first hook lol.

Yeah same. So many killers will simply stick the boot in for a 4k when they're obviously going to win. I don't generally feel the need to do that unless survs are being particularly obnoxious

Yes, it really does start to feel like a distant memory at this point.
