Genuine question; does anyone use rummage quirks (maybe outside of some silliness with ingenuity) seriously? I've only ever thrown them on for archives or chest quests.

I occasionally try to use ricks to make pallets which are so rare its more likely to get someone killed being confused why the pallet destroyed itself lol, and since trevor is one of my mains i occasionally try to rummage for his self healing perk. Lara is another main that i have a chest build for her brand new part perk.

To be fair, Residual Manifest has an effect that doesn't require rummaging a chest, so that one is doing pretty fine overall.
This would be a nice buff for most of the chest-searching perks, though. Really, I'd argue what's needed more is to have more chests on the map, but this'd help too.

The problem with those Perks is simply that you have the conflict of your own fun vs. team efficiency. Obviously people should run whatever they want, since it is their fun. But then you also have to keep in mind that it is a Team game for the Survivors, so if you spend your time looting chests, you are not really contributing to the team.

I would honestly love to use them bc they're more healthy than just bringing items into the match, but sadly finding chests or booking it to basement is a gamethrowing amount of time as of currently 😓

I like doing chest hijinks with streetwise during events with firecrackers in them since it lets you carry more than one firecracker, only issue is streetwise’s interaction with fog vials/maps/keys makes me heavily dislike getting vials and maps

This is completely dependent on whether the perk is properly balanced. If the team benefit of what they get out of the chest is more beneficial than running around the map for over half a generator then having a chest perk is in fact efficient, but right now all chest perks are just bad, which is sad.

I like using Residual Manifest with my Champion of Light build. Killers are less likely to run Lightborn if I don't start the game with a flashlight.

The problem is that the Items in chests are usually not worth the time you spend to search/rummage through the chest. Let alone the time you have to search for one (obviously this would be less if your idea would be implemented, currently you have to run Plunderers for it, which is more of an investment which is not really worth it IMO).
But yeah, this could be changed if Chest Perks would be better, I agree.

Running a few of them together with a nice toolbox to offset the time you spend rummaging is pretty viable imo, especially since you can then swap for whatever other item you get in the chest.
A chest aura attached to these perks would be nice though.

Would be nice if keys showed chest auras too. I've been using them a bit lately and seeing a teammate rummage one of my open chests and then start healing themselves with a medkit they found gives me great satisfaction.

I still run a chest rummaging build every now and then, but I admit I use it far less frequently than I used to, ever since Behaviour introduced fog vials and lowered the rarities of keys and maps. Both of those additions/changes greatly reduced the chances of me getting something from a chest that I can or will actually use, so the whole build is nowhere near as fun as it used to be for me.

I run Residual Manifest, Blast Mine, and Flashbang on Cheryl, since the blindness status applies on any blind and I get perk value for mainly being a gen jockey.
I rarely rummage, or if I do it's while I'm waiting for someone else to open the exit gate, basically.

Became my game system is hook and leave to go find someone else. If my discordance or BBQ don't work I play the hook. I brought my aurs reads for a reason. So I can find nex chases. Im colorblind and I struggle to see stuff so aura reads are important to find people. Residual Manifest means a tunnel Became I don't have other targets
