What do you think the devs are doing right?
As a genuine question.
There have been several threads posting whole walls of how the devs are [badword]ing up. Just dozens of things not even being hinted at that they are being addressed or looked at at all. Things like the Freddy rework that they've been working on for months. Allegedly.
So, as a gauge of how much faith the community actually has in the competence or capacity of the people who try their hardest to make... something, at the dbd office, what have they done *right* this year?

Character design is top tier. They take a concept and put a unique spin on it and the last 4 characters have all turned out looking absolutely amazing in their own ways.

Well, let's be honest. If you're simply talking the actual year of 2019, then I am hard-pressed to think of something. Though I didn't play, I did keep a very close eye on DbD and lurked at the forums, reddit, and so forth. Legion dropped December 11, 2018, and it's been downhill from there. Nothing in 2019 has even approached changing that.
If you mean calendar year (April 2018- April 2019), there were some good things along the way. Patch 2.0, though not perfect, brought a couple QoL features that weren't bad.
But so far for 2019, it's like the DbD leadership is completely off the reservation.

The game is genuinely fun, when it's not crashing/bugged/DCing people/etc.

I do believe they have done many things right.
Pallet vacuum removal, exhaustion nerfs, 2 pallets right next to each other, some main buildings like the barn, window fast vault distance etc. Lets not forget buffs to killers like hag.
I think that some of the devs really want the game to be fair and balanced, fun for both sides but they are being held back for some reason. I still do have faith in them but they have to realize that they have a community and this community waits for some things.
I hope they take the necessary actions in the future. I really do hope they have good things waiting for us in the mid chapter.

It's cool that they're going for dedicated servers after several years of "nah, too much trouble". And that's.. kinda it? I don't think anything else they're doing is worthy of praise.

Cosmetics maybe? But they made Kate look like a ...you know.

They have done an amazing job coming up with new powers, specially Legion (Just because it's bad designed doesnt mean the idea of the power itself is bad)

since beta, they made the game 10 times more balanced with removal of infinites,2 pallet jungle gyms, insta mori etc.

What have they done right? Well it sure as hell ain't
- Added in a ######### killer that people use because they suck in chases and can't actually get better at the game
- Incorporated a ######### program that people abuse time and time and again, to the point to where it should be considered up for suspension (Fog Whisperer)
- Actually inducting something completely stupid that is for sure going to cause a whole lot of drama (Twitch Challenges)
- Just putting out new content simply because they know the numbers are going down and are trying to bring back more people.
In Conclusion. BHVR and it's staff have done nothing right up to this point besides screw up after screw up after screw up. I think that these guys are too afraid to take action because they are afraid of the backlash of what they might do. IF that is not the case then someone please feel free to respond. You even have someone who is an expert in business, who seems to actually be good in the field, actually KNOWS how to run a project because he is an expert in the field, yet, you guys have this company, and you can't even manage one game?

The speed at which new killers come out seems good.

Not really cosmetics cost a fortune, it would be different if the game was free to play. I could spend $1000 right now and still not have every cosmetic

Yeah, seems really fast if you take in count how complex and detailed some are. Sadly, the speed comes with costs

I was talking about the quality of cosmetics, but they cost too much,I agree

I agree they do look good but I ain't buying lol

Im going to buy as my first (and probably only one) cosmetic Susie.
I was gonna grind for the shards, but it takes too much time, imo.
Someone should make a thread about this tbh.

I love the art style. Not talking about Plague's power, but she looks amazing.
I also love that they brought Ash to the game.

Was tempted to buy cosmetics for Ash but couldn't bring myself to do it. I've bought the game and all their licensed DLC and will buy any other licensed stuff they introduce just not cosmetics.
I've got 12000 shards at the minute and I'm missing 6/8 of the last original characters they introduced not sure if I should go for a 21k cosmetic or unlock people

Taking what those in this usebase who think they know better than the company about how they run things with a grain of salt and for the most part ignore them.
Listening to actual feedback and some have even been implemented.
Fixing many issues with the games balance over the last year.
They did get Legion and MoM wrong but I think they will come good with them in the end.
They still have a ways to go to fix the game in terms of bugs but I can't discount what they have already done.

Main thing I believe BHVR is doing very well is their art team is constantly putting out top notch content. Whether it be visuals for maps or the appearance of characters by default or through cosmetics I think they do an excellent job.
Although I'm not a fan of the actual game affecting content as of lately. At this point I would prefer a patch focusing on overhauling features for quality of life reasons or balancing current stuff in game. Although I know that isn't happening because that won't pay the bills.
I believe they're getting better at communicating but at the same time I wish they would be more specific about what's in the works, what they're looking into, etc. I find myself losing interest when the majority of it is "soon" or something along those lines. I would just prefer a direct answer more than anything. Not referring to anything I've posted but just in general how they respond most of the time. Although maybe I just don't see everything they post so who knows. I get they also may be reluctant to reply to threads also because most of the time it's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation with what they're responding to.
Although back to the art team thing. With the new Ash DLC my disappointment that there won't be an Evil Dead map is through the roof. I get that it probably wouldn't make them a profit but god damn I wanted a modern looking Evil Dead Cabin map so bad. With the talent they have at BHVR I know it would have been great for us fans of the franchise. At least they got Ash right though so I can't be too mad about it.
