The Shining License Acquirement

Good day. Ive seen previous comments from the Bhvr team regarding the license of the Shining, and i was curious, has it merely not been acquired due to lack of interest? or because of Licensing issues. I've read about previous attempts to reach out to Stephen King about licenses, but that's the thing, that's not needed at all. The Shining was created by Warner Bros and is a Stanley Kubrick movie, and not a Stephen King one. It would be possible to gather the License for the movie from 1980 without the novel, similar as how Freddy was handled.

They usually do two licensed chapters in the year so they most likely want to go with IP's they think will sell well. Shining is iconic but in the end its not the most well known IP to them to go after. Still they could have it in the pipeline but as there is usually only two licensed chapters a year it can take a while before they get to that one. Still your work around also might not work as we have no clue how the movies usage of the license was agreed on so there could be a problem that King can have a clause there that gives him right to veto any license deals with it.

A 3rd reason would be how to implement it into dbd. Whos the killer / survivor, what are their powers since they were all normal humans, would the actors even be interested in playing the role in games after so many years etc. It doesnt seem like an ideal fit in several ways.

Killer would be Jack Torrance, Survivors can vary, either an aged up Danny Torrance, or Wendy Torrance or even Dick. The issue is something Ghost Face had aswell, he IS just a normal guy. And from what i know Jack Nicholson loved his Role as Jack Torrance and still says how he had pure mastery for their roles.
