I'm on the verge of quitting dead by daylight.
Abandon system sucks, rewards survivors while killer get their will to play the game shattered, I verse trash survivors so much at the highest mmr level, either that or a swf with ds, stb, and exhaustion perks, and then if I win, they intentially abandon the match seconds before dying to not lose mmr, I don't want to play against bots and have the trash player up in my games, every time that happens, even seconds before the match concludes, I feel I don't want to play anymore.
The game balances killers, around the enjoyment of survivors* and I hate that, and that makes playing survivor or killer more and more boring each patch.
I used to play a lot of pig and some ghost face, now I can't seem to enjoy them, I feel like I need to be 1000 times better than the survivors to win, it seems like the game expects you to have way more hours than the survivors but I don't, a lot of people don't.
Any fun techs or outplays that lower killers can do, will instantly get 'fixed' , sky wesker might be my breaking point.
Survivors tell human being to not play the game, and to play the game a very certain unfun boring trash way that only 'benefits' survivors. Tunnelling, camping, use of certain perks, playing certain characters, they seem to be something that is akin to cursing their family's bloodline from their reactions.
Survivors expect to make very little micro adjustments to their gameplay against all killer, that is the only reason I came up with for why they hate human beings playing characters like krasue, they don't seem to underestand that krasue isen't trapper m1 killer but op, they loop so badly I can't enjoy krasue, they just complain about krasue and other characters, but they don't learn their counterplay or even how to play the game, these survivors are so trash that I can down them in less than 30 seconds while they're healthy (edit : while in the human form, the form that can only m1 to damage survivors) , I'm talking about the survivors who complain about krasue and tell me to get rope and to kill myself.
Killers are played by human beings, we feel as well, we live as well, we play the game as well, the developers seem to not underestand this.

Without going into right or wrong, I think a break would be good. Don't keep playing something that makes you feel this exhausted, games are supposed to be enjoyed. Take it from someone who has also felt frustrated with the game's state.

I don't think you can avoid losing mmr by quitting before you lose, if true this is new to me.
But think the game is deceptive in that you could easily use the best perks and play the most hardcore and all the MMR System will do is squeeze the life out of you. This is why I refuse to use the best perks and my matches are pleasant.
Keep in mind I have no idea how you play, this is my own experience talking.

Piggybacking off @Emeal, the point about refusing to use the best perks has a nugget of truth. Not that using suboptimal perks guarantees a better experience, but instead just kicking back, playing how you want, with what you want, is just a better way of going about things. You might get dunked on by a sweaty group once in a while, but you'll dip down in MMR to compensate a little, making for more relaxed games.
This game requires you to exercise the art of not giving an eff in order to enjoy it. If you need a break to get back to that mindset, do it.
The last thing you said in your post is kinda indicative of the mindset. Yeah, I do think quite a few survivors forget that the killer in their match is just another person trying to have fun in the game, and consider their win condition minimising the killer's fun. Those players, however, are not the ones that would be here worrying about the health of the game.7 -
I think a break is well needed for me, thanks for bringing that up, and to respond (for lack of a better word) to some comments:
I usually play with whatever build I want to play with, usually somewhat good but not bad, I know that a better skilled killer can win the match, hense I try to get better.
The current state of the game doesn't frustrate me but, I want to be able to play lower tier killers without having to be better than the survivors by a landslide and the more updates we get, I feel like I need to be even more better than the survivors. I think my in the moment emotions spoke too much in my post.
Thank you all for your comments, it really supported me.0 -
As the others have said, precious little is worth your mental health, especially pixels.
A step away just might be the thing for you temporarily. 😁

As I have said several times they need to add about 5-10 second grace period before the abandon option comes up this way all the "last one go down = abandon" situations are removed as in reality why you should be able to abandon when the match is going to end anyway in few seconds. If the killer does not do the mori in that 5-10 seconds then the abandon option comes available.
Still you are miss-informed as they do lose MMR. Only time survivor does not lose MMR when they abandon is when they are the only one left in the match on survivor side that is not a bot.
As others here have said take a break play something else for a while go smell some flowers or what ever you want. You don't have to lose your mental health and too much something is not always good for you anyway.

Look after yourself, pal. Refresh, play something low stakes, chill and come back renewed.
I do understand how you feel. I'm wanting to get better at Ghostface at the moment and with his current power level you can imagine how well thats going lmao

I took a gigantic break when I was told something along the lines of what you were told, and when I came back I started doing little challenge runs - it started with perkless + padded jaws trapper just to see how often I could win (still a very fair bit) and now I'm trying to push to p100 on Billy without using perks.
I think periodic breaks from titles like this is a good thing for your mental especially given at times this community is capable of saying some really vile stuff. Hope you find a way to feel better soon!

Not to comment on balancing but I felt the same way with ghoul when he first came out as a survivor player, he was 90% of games and I don't enjoy versing him.
A break Is good and I had to do that between ghoul and spring trap release. (idk if confirmed either but if you take a longer break you seem to get buffer matches at lower MMR, at least that's what I and everyone I know who has taken a longer break has experienced)Survivors tell human being to not play the game, and to play the game a very certain unfun boring trash way that only 'benefits' survivors. Tunnelling, camping, use of certain perks, playing certain characters, they seem to be something that is akin to cursing their family's bloodline from their reactions
In regards to this I would recommend just not engaging and looking in the end game chat and play the game however you want. some people are going to have to complain about anything, I had match earlier today where someone was yelling at the trapper in the end game chat for the crime of trapping the basement…..-1 -
wesker techs are exploits, the fact that u needed to reduce fps to be able to do them is evidence, i aint playing wesker because of it, i dont plan to play a killer on low fps just to be good at him. at this point dbd needs rank system and higher tickrate servers to fix the dsync hits and middle ground map rng with gens spread correctly and not too far or too close.

If anything affected by FPS settings is an exploit, I really hope you never, ever use Balanced Landing…

Ive discovered that playing killer around 8-9am is the most miserable experience the game can possibly give lol. Didnt matter what killer i chose, or what build i used. First round as my 2nd main dracula, was a fully decked out bully team complete with the map they wanted (dead dog saloon) and the old toxic multiple locker stun tactics. I had the patience to whittle them down and win in the end, which was satisfying for that one moment. Also during that round discovered a new wolf form bug that prevents you from dashing or attacking until you switch forms lol.
But the next 10 rounds was basic swfs with half flashlights half gen rush builds with gens flying faster than i could get hooks lol i mean i can understand losing every once in a while or at most every other game but every. Single. Round. Since i turned the game on was either you bring meta and tunnel or just try to enjoy getting a few hooks and wave as they leave lol.
I don't like using meta builds or tunneling and camping people to death, but the game (during those hours) feels like you literally are supposed to do those things and bring the strongest build u got or you get the same bad result, alllll morning.

I mean this kindly, but any play during "business hours" is going to bias the people you match against towards those that play the game much more. Some people may work night shifts and things so it's not guaranteed, but if you're not at work/college/school at that time and choosing to spend your day like that, you're probably highly committed to the game.
I made the mistake of booting up DBD during a day off at around 12pm, and the difference in how the game played was stark. Every killer was an actual horror antagonist for a change, and every survivor was pathing near perfectly and practically input reading me.0 -
I actually do work night shift and play the game quite often lol. Ran out of achievements n challenges and 8 p100s and no idea who to even put points into anymore. I play the whole roster on both sides. But yea "business hours" for me ends up being right after work (a night shift into morning). im better off not playing till i sleep and wake up at like 3pm lol.
But the fact that the game can get that bad for an specific period of time is probably where most of the crashout/venting posts come from.

I could see it. It's possibly the one reason I'm grateful for my highly generic 9-5 office job, even if I'm messing about on the forums while at it. I don't have to play against daytime players.
Maybe that's what they mean by Dead by Daylight. Playing this game in daylight hours kills you.Post edited by zonkednb on0 -
Id love a 9-5 office job lol how do you go about getting those?

Take Coté's advice

By not achieving your dreams!
More seriously though, the grass is always greener… I often fantasise about working a night shift for the peace it could bring, especially as I am fully a night owl anyway.0 -
Oh im far from peace either lol its a minimum wage job where im the "favorite" that does twice the work for the same pay as everyone else and the only one who fully understands english lol

Then I'm sorry to hear that :(
Godspeed onto better things, boss.-1 -
I don’t blame you man the game is in a very unenjoyable state atm. I can’t even play a killer match without getting bored and letting everyone live.
-1 -
The game balances killers, around the enjoyment of survivors
Then play survivor.
0 -
60-70% is a target killrate for killers by the devs…
so I don't understand from where comes the statement that game is balanced for surviviors enjoyment0 -
I play the roles 50/50 and your post reeks of entitlement and a strange interpretation of things.
You "hate" that the game is "warped around it being to entertain survivors" paraphrased.
No? B grade killers can get 60% kill rates without trying.
Stop whining.
