Does anyone have any tips to play as the new trickster?
primarily just asking this because I just suck at ranged killers for the most part (Except Unknown for some reason) that and he just looks fun to me.

you've got lots of knives and aren't punished heavily for missing, so try to weave in shots whenever you can. Similar to huntress, trickster can also shred health states very quickly without losing much distance at close range, so if you can, try to get hits with your power over your M1 if the situation permits.
As for the style meter it goes up faster if you dont miss your shots, so dont just spray and pray. And once you have S rank, try to guarantee main event will land lots of knives (IE get close first, or use it when they've got nothing to hide behind) so that it refunds more style.
Holding W is a big counter though since he doesnt need to deal with pallets at lots of loops. There are some perks you could run to combat this if you so choose: Fearmongerer is great at dealing with SB, but if you want something more generalist you could run trail of torment which is what I like to do :D2 -
And if you want to hit someone more accurately at a longer range, just throw one blade at a time

I have no shame in using training wheels; I use iron maiden and the reload addon. I refuse to be caught carrying less than 6 knives at any time.

Ok I have learned that I am bad at trickster… I’m gonna keep playing him and see if I improve.

Im sorry but that first tip of him not being punished for missing aint it. For 4.6 Trickster I would agree, but with the lower knife count, him slowing down heavily from consecutive throws, and especially him being 4.4 now you cant afford to have to leave to reload mid chase. You need to be more precise than ever with his blades to not only keep up the pressure but to maintain your rank which in turn builds even more pressure. The faster throw rate and pull out time allows you to get away with hits (some times even downs) previous Trickster could only dream of having, so its very important to keep up that style rank.

so maybe like tap firing instead of just holding down the button to spray and pray

Spraying and praying is something you want to avoid, but obviously there are times where holding down the button is the correct play. Most common areas for this is at shorter loops or when a survivor is going in a straight line to make it to a pallet or window.
Tap firing is mainly when a survivor has a bit of distance (lets say one end of shack to the other, but not necessarily at shack it self) you want to use something you would do in a lot of shooters. If the survivor is moving from side to side, be patient with your throws and wait until they run back into your "crosshair" (middle of the screen). If their movement is very exaggerated where they lose a lot of distance you can even put away the knives to pull them out when you're closer, or even just go for the M1 if their injured.
Also try to practice quickly throwing around corners. That's a very important skill and in some cases it can trigger "thread the needle" which builds up your rank very quickly
