Can we please do something about lobby dodging?

This isn't a one sided issue either. I sometimes literally cannot even get a match to start due to the absurd amount of dodging on both sides. It's extremely common for four or five people on both sides to dodge for whatever reason. It just delays the start of the match and is generally pretty annoying.

Really? I don't see much of an issue sure some leave but there's always someone who quickly replaces and stays

I feel the dodgers get worse lobbies anyway so what ever.

Maybe there could be a system for extreme cases like 3 dodges without doing a match you get a penalty

Yea, I'll attest to this. Ever since I switched to anonymous mode I've seen a much larger number of lobby dodgers.

Valid options for this as I see them:

    1. Fix it so that dodging doesn't go for "fastest choice" and throw matchmaking out the window. At least then dodging doesn't ruin the game for 5 people.
    2. Remove the lobby entirely.
    3. Lock players to a particular lobby, so it can search for a new, good match while waiting for the person who tried to dodge if they do queue up. So, dodging becomes impossible unless they time themselves out voluntarily.

I leave a lot when I see anon players. Same with numbers and _s in the name.

Making it so people can't browse each other's profiles in the lobby would help with this. I don't get why it's even permitted to check people's hours beforehand, because if someone with 300 hours gets someone with 3k, of course they'll dodge.

or bhvr could just you know, fix the "skill based matchmaking" so that 300 hours doesnt get put in lobbys with 3k hours..

I can sorta understand the reason behind dodging anons, but dodging numbers and underscores just seems kinda tedious to me. That’s such a huge amount of the player base — how would you ever play an actual match?

I don't think the lobby itself should be removed completely. It is iconic to the game and allows the killer to adjust their build based on items. Maybe some form of locked lobby is needed, where once their system does its thing there's no leaving?

Another here mentioned checking profiles & hours. This probably shouldn't be a thing either, especially concerning the vast majority of the playerbase cannot do it anyway and it's done specifically to dodge or not.

The only reason I see for it that has merit imo is sniffing around for "known cheaters and hackers". That's another topic entirely, and I agree much more needs to be done server-wise to combat it, but again most players cannot even check in the first place.

Simple fix is just remove lobby. You queue, you find a group you go into a game instantly. The whole ready up process is already a waste of time.
Don't get me wrong i have lobby dodged in the past top reason having 4 survivors all having similar name and outfit which is clearly a swf running with some sort of plan. Not saying i don't like going against swfs i actually prefer it but something about all 4 having the same outfit and similar names just doesn't sit right with me and i associate it with bully squad so i don't take the risk.

There is always a way to leave a lobby. simply closing the game will do it.
Now im a killer main so i get where your coming from with killer able to change their build based on what survivors are bringing but this is unfair on survivors as they can't see who they are going against and change thier build accordingly. Not sure why anyone likes the lobby as its just a time waste. nothing worse than having a long queue time followed by sitting there waiting because players don't ready up quickly. Going straight from queue to offering screen would be so much better as it would mean faster games and everyone is on a fair playing field in terms of advanced knowledge.

For those saying Check hours in lobby whats the point? Hours mean nothing in DBD. Take my playtime for example. 1289.1 hours at time of this comment yet only about 100 of them are as survivor and about 500 - 600 as killer. The rest is just lobby and queue. Its why you will come up against a 10k hour lobby and you can still beat them because most of the time you can take "playtime" and half it for true in game hours as the rest is just filler.

this is unfair on survivors as they can't see who they are going against and change thier build accordingly

A killer has literally nothing to adjust for survivor unless we can see their perks, items are virtually irrelevant. We're bringing slowdown anyway because we have too (toolboxes), anti heal is utter trash (medkits) even if it wasnt its not worth the slots, and frankly wasting a valuable perk slot on lightborn is silly (flashlights). There is simply nothing worth adjusting in killer builds.

Having FOUR SURVIVORS (likely 2+ in comms) adjust their entire loadouts based on killer (of which they have many options) is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger by such a huge amount that it would be game breaking and invalidate some killers entirely. You'd never bring medkits against legion or plague for example, you'd just bring toolboxes and gen perks, that just guarantees the game is harder for weaker or specific killers where their powers take advantage of inefficient survivor item usage. It would be yet another reason to just only play blight, nurse, ghoul etc. It is not even remotely "unfair" to survivors when counter picking would be tilted so much in favour to them while benefitting killer very little.

Just fix backfill mmr so you dont get a 4 hour brand new player when someone dodges

Perhaps if matchmaking did its job properly you wouldn't need to do this. People are complaining about dodging but are ignoring the REASONS for dodging. Dodging is a symptom not the cause.

Yeah just remove the pregame lobby. There's literally no reason to let players see each other pregame. The only thing it does is encourage people to lobby dodge.

Being able to check players hours if they are same platform in pregame is harmful, killers seeing survivor item loadouts is unfair, because they can switch up perks to counter it. I'm mainly thinking of switching to lightborn if you see 2 or more torches. I don't do that anymore becuase i can counterplay torches now. But I've done it before and it literally caused a survivor to ragequit barely a minute into the game when they realised their torch didn't affect me.

You shouldn't have any info at all on the opposing team in dbd. All it does is make people dodge lobbies which hurts the game

I don't forsee truly proper matchmaking happening. There simply aren't enough people of the same caliber on the same servers at any given time. Pretty sure that's why we already see regular players being fed to winstreakers. If they narrow the brackets and tighten the matching, those people will be waiting forever, and God forbid their content or ego feasting is interrupted.

Yes and no. While this is always going to be somewhat true based on the size of the player base. There are things you can do. Right now, for both sides, the game is MASSIVELY snowbally. There is basically 0 chance for any comeback on either side.

A teammate gets hooked, you start going for the save, and while that happens the killer spots you and downs you before a teammate realizes and starts going for the save? Game over at that point if the killer wants to capitalize on it (and they should)

Have a first chase where you guess wrong a couple of times and 3 gens pop before you get your first hook? Game over if the survivors just do gens instead of totems/chests/etc (and i would 100% expect them to).

They need to fundamentally fix the design of the game in a way that addresses both these pain points, as well as the fact that the most optimal way to play the game (for both sides) is also the most unfun way for the other side.

I think if you did these, you would fix a lot of these winstreakers being fed tons of wins because these types of players wouldn't just immediately lose against them and would actually have a fighting chance to play the game a little bit.

This. If backfills weren't more or less random, lobby dodging would be less of an issue
