Ya'll do realize survivors could create their build off knowing killer in the lobby?
I keep seeing bringing up the topic of "what if survivors could see who the killer is in the lobby?" And yes, dodging would be an issue. But nobody seems at all concerned that if survivors literally know who you are in the lobby, they can create their build around countering what your powers are as killer. Oh, it's a doctor? Technician. Imagine being a leather face or a Bubba and everybody loads into the match with boon exponential and made for this. Ghostface? Bring alert and inner focus or literally any other aura perk so you can see his aura all during the match so you know where he is when you're on gens.
Not to mention all the perk slots survivors won't be wasting anymore. No more bringing stakeout only to find that it's a stealth killer and you won't get value the whole match. No more bringing healing perks if it's a legion or a plague. You can optimize your load out to go against THAT killer. I came up with all this and I'm not even a 5k hour survivor. Imagine what the 5k hours can come up with.

Killers have been able to do all this for years. No items? Can take off Franklins. Four flashlights. Lightborn. 4 matching Aces, dodge.
If it hasn't been a problem for killers to do this, then it's not a problem for survivors.
Or better yet, prevent both sides from seeing anything about the other, which would help curb sniping as well.

Yeah I've always been of the opinion that nobody should be able to see anything in the pregame.
In all honesty as killer I will sometimes pop lightborn on if i see 3+ flashlights. It can be satisfying to clap bully squads who run those builds. Especially when I play demo and can mindgame them into thinking I'm trying to avoid flashlights.
But I would happily give that up to remove any info in the pregame lobby for anyone to stop dodging. Im convinced a lot of survivors dodge because they check profiles of other survivors and see they are on low hours.

The difference here is that each killer has a unique power.
But all the survivors are exactly the same, and the killer has no clue what build the survivors bring.
The only thing the killer can see are the items in the hands of the survivors.
It's a small advantage, but not problematic.7 -
Yeah that would be the best way to go, make it equal between killer and surviours and have both not be ablw to see anything about the other side.

It would very quickly get to the point where it'll be next to impossible to start a match on any killer due to lobby dodging. Much as it would be nice to never play against a Ghoul, it would completely destroy the game.

Nobody should see anybody in the lobby. No characters, no items, no names. If not that, then the killer's name should at least be visible to the survivors. If killers can snipe, survivors should be able to too.

All survivors are identical except for how well they blend in to different areas. I can't make a build that specifically invalidates any feng's but I can make a build specifically to deal with a killer power. Plus I mean, 5 sec switch has been in the game since it came out. If you're really that concerned about someone bringing lightborn or franklins just do that.

Killer just saw icons but never item quality and addons, knowing killer in lobby is totaly different thing thats like me playing playing cards with you and knowing which kards you have.
Knowing killer before match means you can either doge lobby or switch your build to gain advantage against that killer, change like this will just push more ghouls and blights out than seeing more ghostfaces and other killers.

Seeing survivor isnt problem its just skin, the name is questionable but only steam has some advantage by reading info on persons profile which can be either turned off on your steam profile to make it more private so others cant see info on your profile or in game settings (in DBD) where you can hide your name and profile compleatly (names can be changed so if you see Epidemy, Otzdarva or others it doesnt mean its real them).
Seeing items nowdays is kinda pointless anyway unless its 4 flashlights which means higher chance for swf or bully squad but thats not that hot so I think hiding items till 15 last seconds where no change on both sides in their build can be made or compleatly isnt bad change and last killer should be hidden thats like knowing which map will you get before the game even starts but even more than thats because some killers have cetain gameplay and survivors could utilize this information and change perks so like you know you will play against twins so you equip antislug perks or you know it will be trickster so you put some exhastion perks for distance and so on.

I really don’t agree with the idea of being able to see the killer before the game starts. For the reasons you listed above along with the fact that it just feels unnecessary. Now it can be very frustrating to load into a match and your build is rendered useless, can’t say how many times I’ve run full healing only to be matched with plague or legion. But, that’s a risk that both roles take, and I like that factor.
Luckily I’m certain that any kind of indication of killer won’t happen until after the match has already started, not in the lobby. Wether or not there should be any indication of the killer at all until a certain game state hits is up for debate, but that’s what the PTB is for so we can all see how it plays out.

If it hasn't been a problem for killers to do this, then it's not a problem for survivors.I feel like I've spent a fair portion of time on the forum telling killer players because its an asym just because something works for survivors, it doesn't mean the same thing would work for killers. Its true in the other direction as well: just because something exists for killers does not mean it has to exist for survivors.
The game is designed around the idea that the killer can know what survivors are bringing item wise and prepare their strategy for that - survivors have to much more adapt in the game to an unknown killer.
Switching that would, long term, probably lead to lots of survivor nerfs to adapt to the new change.
Or better yet, prevent both sides from seeing anything about the other, which would help curb sniping as well.That would be possible, and the benefits of taking out dodging and sniping probably outweigh the rare survivor strategy sessions and killers being able to see items, but its a different discussion.

The survivors won’t know who the killer is until they get into the match. So no, they can’t change their build.

and even then the devs did state that they will be adjusting it when it shows who the killer is so its not going to be press tab and see who it is. Most likely still going to take the same time it takes now to see who it is.
