Why isn't there vc in this game yet
It's been 10ish years since this game came out and people have wanted vc for survivors since then. The only reason I can see why not is because it would cost money to implement and moderate. Because "it's not the intended way to play the game" doesn't really hold when you can just get on discord with a swf. (if it wasn't intended to be played that way then they'd have to remove swf entirely. And while I'm playing killer I would certainly be partial to that I also enjoy playing with friends and making a multiplayer game where you cant would be crazy)

I obviously can't speak for the development team, but personally I'd argue that it isn't just that it's money to implement and moderate, it's also that there isn't much of a benefit.
Voice chat obviously wouldn't benefit the majority of SWFs much, if they're capable of using voice chat they're probably already using Discord or another third party system.
Voice chat also doesn't benefit solo queue that much overall, since a lot of variables have to align before you're actually able to use voice chat with strangers - language barrier is the biggest thing to consider, but there's also willingness to use a mic, actually owning a mic, noise pollution from other people in your vicinity while playing, and so on.
On top of all of that, it also opens up new avenues for toxicity and harassment, which is a pretty major negative to compare the benefits against- and since there isn't really much in the way of benefits to begin with, that makes it a pretty noticeable element overall. The better question to ask, genuinely and not as a rhetorical question, is why bother implementing VC in the first place.

I've seen what people take the time to type, I don't want to know what they'll say off the cuff.
8 -
- Toxicity (swearing our heads off at eachother)
- Immersion (sables being played by old men, leon being played by kids etc.)
- Trolling (music will be blaring, or even pron)
- Mistakes (missed skillcheck will cause heated arguements)
- Sandbagging (now with verbal abuse)
- Voicelines (will be drowned out by players voice)
- Background noise (kids or other people making noise in the background )
- Censorship (no point censoring text when you can say anything you want)
- Uncomfortability ( some just want to play the game not talk. So some will have voice and others don't making it pointless)

killer balance kinda gets destroyed since you can accurately call out where the killer is especially with stealth killers

Lol at anyone thinking this would be used well by average playing strangers. It'll be insults, cursing, and bad info. I'd perma-mute on day one and that would be that.

cog is right. nothing good would come from that.

It would be a instant shutoff if it was added. I aint gonna listen to screaming in my ears every match.

Something something, too afraid of toxicity, something something "just because they have it doesn't mean they'll use it."
Basically no reason to not have it except being lazy about it.-4 -

As for why bother; so we can stop using the soloq excuse for buffing survivors or doing some weird things with revealing what killer it is halfway into a match. When they could be idk, working on making the game more enjoyable/less buggy.

Yeah I don't think vc would help dbd. Quite the opposite. The community tends to be, I guess the most charitable way to put it is, lets say "short tempered"
I dread to think what ppl would come out with in open vc. Heck one of my team mates spends most of their time in swf games cussing our randoms teammates out when they do stuff they don't approve of lol. If they were in vc they'd get comms banned reet quick.
Then there's the issue of people even using it. I've played games where vc and voip is practically necessary and ppl still go silent. DayZ is a good example, most people will straight up shoot you if you don't talk in gamechat on that game and so many ppl still play silent.

What makes you say that, exactly?
As I said, from my perspective voice chat doesn't help solo queue. If the goal is to fix that role's issues, voice chat isn't just not the best option, it isn't an option at all.

Reason #2 😅😅

Because it would turn into a cod Lobby and people know what I'm talking about
