Custom games should be able to earn progression

Hi everyone, seen a lot of frustration among my friend group and even a bit more generally with how some matches are just really unfun/frustrating. I know its hard to balance an asymmetrical game in a way in a way that pleases everyone, but one thing mentioned in my group's discord was how custom games exist, but we don't want to play them together because you don't get any of the rewards that come from playing the normal modes.

We have had one guy in our group who has just moved on from DBD entirely for these same reason. I think it would do a lot of good to add progression to custom games to allow groups to play at their own pace and their own style. By progression, I mainly mean bloodpoints and account XP and maybe old tomes' challenges too. It would be great if rift quests could be completed as well, but I can see BHVR's argument there about maybe not preferring groups farming the quests in that manner to speed through the rift pass stuff (although personally I think it would be fine because its just cosmetics).

There are already groups on discord who use applications to change game config files and allows 5 people to play together in public matches! Adding progression to customs could be no different than that, just exclude the 2x queue bonus, the cakes, or other modifiers to keep the public mode unique.

At the moment custom games give access to all the perks and addons, including locked survivors/killers, but my suggestion there would be a "sandbox mode" setting which works like the current customs giving all perks/addons/etc and could keep progression disabled. But it would feel so nice to have a mode where all 5 of our friends can play together without getting bored of being slugged, getting tunneled out and needing to afk for the next 8 minutes, or being generally abused by a bad-mannered killer.

Anyway I just wanted to start a discussion and maybe get some visibility on what I think would be a good addition to the game for both the playerbase and BHVR! Thanks and happy killing :)

There are active discords for people who want to play 5 man queue farming simulator anyways. I'm just suggesting add more ways to play for people who choose to use it. SWF with cakes and surv queue bonus would give more stuff anyways, so this is just supposed to be another option on how to play!

Yeah, except that with your idea people could just let 5 Bots play together to gain infinite BPs.

Bloodpoints are already infinite? You just keep playing matches and getting more. Even if there are bots I don't know why that would be a problem. I posted this out of endearment because I like this game and think its pretty good, but the worst part by far is the community and other players and our group lost some gamers because of that so I'm just trying to find ways to continue enjoying a game that I like to play :)

Pretty sure it would kill public queue times. I've never seen a game that adds progression in customs because then what is the point of playing public queue?

It would be also used as a bot farm as in most other games that have any PVE progression.

Make BP farming possible without going into queue will immediately lower player population in public matches and cause the game to die out sooner. Right now, even players that only want BP for one reason or another still flesh out the queues, keeping times down and (try not to laugh) help keep matches more balanced. Encourage players to leave public matches for optimised farming methods that they can control directly (custom games) and you'll hurt the game overall.

If you are playing customs, you do not need progression since everything is already unlocked for you in customs.

    Who would play puplic matches?

Crowman beat me to it, but yes, if all you wanna do is play customs, there's no need for BP as you have access to infinite items and all perks at tier 3. What else would you need to progress?

You think you should get iri shards for playing non-public games?
That would just mean certain people would bot farm customs like crazy and sell accounts with all the non-premium currency characters and cosmetics unlocked.

Welp sorry I posted an idea to help bring back my friends to a game that I want to keep playing with them while losing interest in playing public games because of toxic players 😓

If they did this I would just farm 4 survivor bots to use iri addons on killers in every single public match.
