Trapper desperately needs a rework

Since they're allergic to buffing Trapper in this PTB, how about a dedicated rework for the poster boy Trapper?

I could give suggestions like making him throw bear traps which is straightforward but I think the community here are more creative with thinkering powers to that aspect. I just want to push the ball and see it in motion.

    He’s the introductory killer. His power is fine for beginners learning the game.

    The rework doesnt make sense. The core is completely fine, even if he will never be one of the strongest killer. But he should be atleast good at his job.

    His setup time is far too long. (collecting traps takes ages). The traps are too visible on many maps and are simply used to block pallets/windows. And the reward for trapping someone is almost zero if you are not close.

    Yeah, this is the prime example why Killers who are weak are not automatically fun to go against. I also hate to go against Trapper, even if he is weak.

    @Topic:

    Trapper does not need a Rework. First of all, Trapper can be completely different when playing with Double Iri and without Double Iri. If you use Double Iri on him, he is way stronger with you basically being constantly injured.

    But even without that, a Rework would not make sense. Trapper is a very simple Killer and as the Posterboy, he should be simple. He should basically be the Killer from the art and a new Killer player should be able to pick him up quickly. Plus throwing Beatraps just sounds stupid and is basically Huntress.

    I would make the following changes to Trapper:

    • Instead of 8 Beartraps, there should be 4 Beartrap Locations with 2 Beartraps at each Location. He should also be able to carry 2 more Beartraps instead of only 1 more Beartrap by Default. This would allow him to pick up his power quicker, so he only has to travel 4 times instead of 8 times to collect it.
    • Setting Speed and Haste should be buffed a little and the respective Add Ons nerfed a little.
    • Beartraps should always be in a similar color to the ground of the map. The Devs will probably be able to get this done by giving the Beartraps the main color of the Map. E.g. Eyrie of Crows and Dead Sands yellowish, The Game gray, Swamp dark brown etc… Tar Bottles used to be his best Add On when the Maps were darker, but nowadays you cannot really bring them since they make Traps stick out even more since the Devs decided to make the game so bright. But the traps being a similar color to the main ground of the map would certainly help. Tar Bottles should be reworked to a completely different Add On.
    • More vegetation on maps where it is appropiate. The lack of grass on most maps make it hard to place Traps. But maybe this might not even be needed with the previous suggestion.

    After the mess of recent reworks we've gotten, I would rather BHVR leave killers alone than to rework them.

    So I've played since 2016 and personally I feel the biggest issue with the Trapper is maps and RNG. Sometimes RNG with tile, trap and gen spawns can win you the game and sometimes you get gm_flatgrass where you can see traps a mile away. Although I don't know if I'd really buff him because realistically how do you buff him - he can end chases faster than anyone if you walk in his traps. I do feel in his current spot I wouldn't change Trapper at all. The only thing I'd consider is if Trapper is on the map it should spawn slightly more grass in some areas but determining where grass goes is a conversation in itself. I wouldn't mind a secondary power where the entity moves your farthest unarmed traps closer to you for you to pickup because sometimes those spawn in deadzones you will literally never go to otherwise. It's less frequent now but that's all I'd possibly change with his power if I had to pick anything.

    tl;dr - Maps and rng are his biggest weakness imo and I'll die on this hill - current kit doesn't need changed.

    Hmm trapper throwing traps. I feel like ive made that joke before... Trapper is legit meant to be a well, trapper. However one thing id suggest doing to the trapper is skins for the trap. Maybe put a piece of cheese or a cupcake in the middle of the trap. Would definitely bait some survivors of sorts.

    It's very healthy to have a killer who can't function properly without it's best addons being equipped. Sure.

    Surely I did. It's about a killer who is extremely outdated and can be on par with an average M1 killer only when both of addons are of the highest tier possible.

    Its a base level killer. new players play against him. god this forum needs to remember that new people want to play as well. There has to be killers that the new people can try to play against or else take the game out of stores at this point.
