Could we get an option to disable the chat filter?

An option to disable it would be nice. Don't see why it needs to be mandatory. I'd prefer seeing what people write instead of "***** ***** *** *".

The post game chat just needs to go altogether. Its only purpose is to give people the opportunity to be super toxic. Don’t even give people a platform to do that.

Yeah the filters are sometimes super stupid they censore even things that arent even harmfull or slurs and I believe majority of people are here too old to bare the cold truth written there from others (in option based setting).

Why? What is the point? Best case, you get everyone saying “GG” to each other. So we need to keep the ability for people to say GG so that the other 99% of extremely toxic post game chats can remain?

I'm someone who has had chat turned off for years, but one benefit of making the filter toggleable is that you could more effectively report people and get them banned lol

But I am kind of in favor of making it optional because I have seen on Twitch/YT where the most benign stuff gets filtered and people think others are being nasty when they aren't. But that's the only legit reason, imo.

If the filter keeps a person from expressing themselves, at best that's a linguistic/interpersonal communication skill issue, and at worst that's a good reason to keep them muzzled.

No, best case is people are kindly correcting misplays from survivors or explaining specific game situations that occurred for future improvement. Just the other day I explained to another survivor that m1-ing a survivor as ghostface clears his current stalk meter, so if you're afraid that you're 99'd try forcing an m1 before his power is off cooldown. I can't do this with console players, who arguably need the most help in improving for that very reason: because nobody is telling them when and why they messed up.

Like others have said, if you don't want to interact with the chat, then close the chat. But removing communication altogether is an awful idea.

I have pleasant interactions beyond ggs everytime I play.

Because positive interactions do happen. I have met people, chatted with them, friended them after, and various other things. If the chat goes toxic, i literally click a button and move on. And you 100% completely have the option to opt out in a way where you would never know what people are saying.

The point is, give people options, let them decide for themselves.

This might be going a bit too deep but BHVR has this façade where they want to be very polite and kind and inclusive, but under the surface they're totally different. A great example is when we raise very genuine concerns we have with the game and we're given the typical "Aw sorry hunny, we're looking into it!" response. The chat filter is more of the same. It's to "keep the peace" in a way, but in my opinion it's really just more about avoiding bad press and avoiding moderation.

The chat filter has a place but some of the word choices make no sense. For example, the word "could" causes the entire sentence to be censored out; I just had a match where I said "Well that could have gone better" and it made me look like I was salty and toxic as it came out as "########################"

I do think it is kind of funny how they censor chat when the game is rated M. Totally fine to see detailed animations of people getting brutally murdered but say a bad word and that’s too far! Lol
