First hook at end game..
I thought it was common knowledge that if the last survivor to be hooked is on their first hook, so long as one survivor remains, they can attempt to unhook themselves.. I play solo queue when my SWF are away and the amount of times people just leave, after me sacrificing myself for them, it's annoying. I don't want you to unhook me, but at least let me try and unhook myself.. I don't even care about escaping, but I'd like the option of at least trying..
Is this not common knowledge or are they just selfish?

Sadly there is no real common knowledge. A lot of the players dont even know the basics.

I usually let people get the struggle points anyway even if I can't go save them so I will wait until they die if they aren't killing themselves on the hook.

Unfortunately there’s not really any way to know this without being explicitly told. The games tutorial doesn’t go over this kind of stuff, and the rules of the game keep changing.

I honestly think ALOT of players not just new just miss new mechanics because they are not looking at this games updates like the news. It should be up to game to tell players. Not watch videos about the mechanics of a game you want to play or read through patch notes.
I had a Dwight cause the anti camp to not go up one time, when I asked why he didn't leave the hook area in egc he said "I didn't know that was a thing"
I think pop ups would help. not intrusive just like at top of screen during specific scenarios
some examples
Standing in exit gates with one person on hook or lingering around the hook with gates open - "Leaving two survivors left in the trail will allow hooked survivor to attempt self unhook"
Causing anti camp meter to slow down - "Lingering near the hooked survivor will cause the anti camp meter to pause"
Anti camp meter is filling up fast ( killer not going out of range at all) - " Lingering to close to a hook survivor will cause them to be able to unhook themselves"2 -
With the changes to being able to self unhook people probably don't know that there is an exception. The tutorial isn't great and the average DBD player isn't reading up on the details for the updates. They saw "can't self unhook without a perk" and that's all they cared to read. They probably figure its the same as the rest of the match and since gens are done you don't have the anticamp bar to fill up so they just leave. Alot are a monkey see monkey do - if the times they stick around they don't see someone successfully unhook themselves they aren't going to think thats a thing to do.

Another thing to add to this list, since I've seen lots of people die looking for the hatch.. If pig has placed a head trap on you after all gens are popped, you can leave through the main exit. I think we need to do a full list of these types of things..
