Survivors doing gens solo is an issue
Let me be clear: I’m not saying survivors are at fault here.
But let’s look at the scenario. The killer chases one survivor while the other three each work on a generator. If the chased survivor has decent skills—and maybe some luck with map RNG—the first chase often determines whether the killer will win the game or not as this will help him get pressure if he can hook someone.
And still, survivors have 70 seconds to unhook before a hook stage get completed. This gives plenty of time to finish a gens and then go to the rescue.
Now the question is : Why would you want to do gens with someone else when you get a speed penalty for working on one together? Beside objective points, I don't see the point.
I'm not really here to complain, I just want to have a discution about doing gens solo

A discusion about what? What is it that you want? Duoing up speed-boosted? Gen times increased? What's the discussion point?

Being efficient on gens is the only way to win most of the time.
Killer's got more and more oppresive over last few years.

There is not really a point of doing gens with others. You can duo one at the start, after that it's almost always better to single them if possible.
In the end it depends on the situation and map I'd say. If you have a 3 gen you have to break it would be better to duo or tripple it if the killer is stupid enough to chase the last person for too long, otherwise it's also better to single them in that situation because the killer won't be able to defend 3 gens that are attacked at the same time normally.
(that's just what I think. I'm not thinking much about it normally, I just single if it's not important to crank out a specific gen. The only other thing I think about is the fact that 3 people are barely better than 2 so I splitt then always)

If a killer is going to hard chase early game and allow people to pop gens one after the other instead of dropping chase to find a weaker link in the chain and regress some gens the loss is on them.
edit: I've had a decent few killers in end game chat accuse me and my friends or the randoms i solo with of gen rushing when in reality they decided to spend 3+ minutes tunneling/chasing one person.

Doubling up is less numerically efficient but there are times when it's worth doing. If you're passing a 80% complete gen and killer is chasing someone injured, might be worth pushing through it before PR procs or the killer comes to apply pressure.
Also definitely worth doubling/tripling up on a gen that is easy to defend early on, especially if it's part of a three gen set up.

In the end it comes down to chase time (simplified bc things like location, etc., but i digress).
And yes, some killer cant down fast enough in theory to stop those 3 gens. But you can always choose one of the strong killer. And mostly you dont need them against the average survivor to have short chases.
With a fast down you could prefer to get an important gen down with doubling.

Time required to complete a generator solo with no perks: 90s
Time required to complete a generator with two survivors with the penalty and no perks: 72s
Time required to complete a generator with two survivors with no perks if there was not any penalty: 45s.
So, it can sometimes (not always) be efficient to team up on a generator (especially when you factor in perks like Prove Thyself or other perks that only work when multiple survivors are on a single generator?)
Now, when is it not effective? If you know where another generator is and can get to it, then do so. But sometimes it's better to team up, finish one generator, then go looking for another rather than not be on a generator because you're looking for one.0 -
I think this is the best response. General guidance is that spreading work on gens is best, but there are good situational reasons for getting certain gens done as quickly as possible.

Yeah thats the point, its better to do gens solo. Which removes the need for survivors to try and find each other to do gens faster. (Since it's useless).
Now, you are chasing a guy for too long and decide to leave him to go after another. The guy you chased is going to repair a gen the next seconds. And the next guy you are going to chase might be as good as the other one.
And to finish : yup, how do you want to apply pressure to 3 gens at the same time?

I must say that I don't have much of a problem with it being that way. I played a bit of survivor the last days and I think I would be pretty annoyed to have to do them with 2 or more people - I'd say you could give the one perk from dwight (however it was called again), but then would specific gens be done too fast.
I don't really see what they could do about that at the moment without rebalancing xD

people hate on Teamwork perks but I love the idea of trying to encourage survivors to be inefficient

Indeed. It's wild survivors expect to get the win without having to earn it. I mostly play killer with some survivor mixed in. As a survivor I don't mind earning it. I just hate when the killer I'm against employs some tactic like hard tunneling at 5 gens or full lobby slugging with full aura build. It isn't NEEDED to win. It can help in some situations but to apply it to every game you play is crazy.
