What's a license you'd like in DBD that isn't that commonly requested?
Everyone knows the variety of licenses people request for all the time, but what characters/properties do you wish were in the game or feel would be a great fit that noone really talks about?

Parasyte. Shinichi as survivor with an Ash like hand and a parasite as killer. this killer has potential if they let you be a generic custom parasite.
how cool would it be to make killers pay for survivor cosmetics by dressing up a non licensed survivor as something like the Krasue human form before opening up. the body could have 0 TR and move at 100% with no m1 but transform into head mode and start shredding
This would satisfy the desire for some kind of mimic killer without it actually being a mimic since the concept just couldn't work. it'd just be window dressing to a Slaughtering Strike type power

game of thrones, i just want Jon snow

I think it has been requested in the past, but I need a Supernatural DLC with the Winchester Brothers as survivors.
4 -
Slenderman
3 -
Bioshock.
Only time I see it being requested is when it's from the goat alishock on Reddit
2 -
There was an April 1st joke, saying that Bioshock would be our 10th anniversary chapter.
I was so sad when I found out it was fake. Bioshock was always my most wanted license. Rapture would be extremely atmospheric as a setting and a bouncer big daddy could be very interesting as a killer.

2004's Van Helsing.
That film is such a guilty pleasure of mine, even though it's wicked dated. So many options for killer (maybe excluding the main antognist as we already have Dracula from another property), with Van Helsing and Anna Valerious as survivors.
If I had to pick one character to be killer, though, it'd be Mr Hyde from the opening of the film. So much personality, very hammy, yet manages to be fairly intimidating through brute strength and clear intelligence lacking any moral guidance.
Plus, so many sick cosmetics could come from this.1 -
I think it could an amazing chapter if BHVR really went all out and got creative with it. It would also bring back my fellow old farts who stopped playing.
I don’t know what her power should be but for her mori, she could shrink the Survivor and stomp on them.(I know she would make herself bigger but I think the reverse is better to avoid wacky camera angels and model clipping) Kimberly and Tommy could be Survivors and the Devs could use this chapter as an excuse to introduce Ninja Cosmetics that were in the first movie. I’d love running around as a squad of Claudette’s in green Ninja suits.

Marik probably. They make yugioh jokes sometimes and have connections with konami anyway. Also they werent shy in the Manga about the shadow realm actually being death. Mori is summoning ra to blast the survivor with pure flames.

Theres a particular few id love to see but have been mostly forgotten by everyone these days.
Dino Crisis : Resident evil's dinosaur variant thats been locked away since the first xbox, but seems to still have a fanbase hoping for capcom to revive the series either with remakes or a reboot. Has less characters than resident evil but the main heroine Regina is certainly a popular choice for a survivor, enough so that itd fit even as a survivor only chapter, if dinosaurs were being held off for jurassic park or something.
Turok : started out as comics, about native americans fighting dinosaurs/aliens/mutants etc with futuristic weapons and traveling through time. More about a specific native appointed as a kind of hero of sorts, the position being called Turok. On nintendo 64 they created one of the most brutal, gory horror shooters at the time in an entire trilogy for n64. Mostly known for its very unique guns and weapons like the Cerebral Bore (fires a homing projectile that drills into your head and explodes). It has a rather interesting cast of native characters particularly in turok 3, which could fit dbd well. With many monsters/dinosaurs etc to choose for a killer.
The X-Files : everyones heard of Supernatural, but they were clearly inspired by the X-Files. Not many survivors to choose from but theres 2 main characters as it is a show entirely about a duo of fbi agents trying to solve supernatural cases that were never finnished before. Agents Dana Skully (she believes in all things practical and doesn't believe in supernatural things) and Fox Mulder (who had firsthand experience of the supernatural at a young age and believes firmly in the supernatural) they would certainly fit well in dbd, as theyve also alredy had their own survival horror game back in the day on ps2. Basically the show was like a giant set of mini horror movies sometimes even taking inspiration from other movies like The Thing.
X-COM : one of the most brutal horror themed squad based tactics games. It took the old "grey big eyed martians taking over the world" thing and twisted it into a realistic horror game where there are no main characters because people die so easily in that series. You create your own base and elite squad much like a swat team, and shoot down U.F.Os, then secure the crash sights, mostly with aliens still alive and hiding amongst the wreckage where you have to hunt them down without any knowledge of what they are capable of, where they are, or even what they are. My favorite in the series was xcom: terror from the deep. Most seemed to find its idea funny rather than scary but it involved hunting the aliens in shot down ufos, at the bottom of the ocean. So just imagine having to walk at the bottom of the ocean, in pitch blacn darkness, hunting aliens that can see in the dark, breathe underwater, and are equipped with high tech weapons quite easily able to puncture your high pressure suit. And all you got is a harpoon gun. Seemed pretty intimidating to me. They could fit into dbd as original made survivors much like aestri and baemar with dnd, with a host of alien monsters to choose from.

The web novel Worm is always my first pick. Its protagonist Taylor Hebert/Skitter would make for a perfect killer, and now that we have survivors with voicelines making Lisa/Tattletale the survivor would be pretty fun, it'd be neat to hear her #########-talking the killers lol.
For a secondary pick, Doctor Who comes up surprisingly infrequently in these conversations despite it being iconic horror media of its sort. Licensing it might be kinda hard since the iconic monsters are technically owned by different people/estates, but there are some viable options for killer in a chapter like that.

Gears of War. Marcus and Dom as Survivors. Cole, Baird, and Anya as Legendaries. Active Reload could be a Skill Check Perk.
General Raam as the Killer with Kryll power.
2 -
Anything Amnesia. Either the Dark Descent or The Bunker, the only time I've heard anyone mention it every is the Amnesia Concept Chapter. Never heard anyone except myself suggest it or want it since.
3 -
If we're specifically talking uncommon / unlikely then I would like Akira although I don't feel this is the game for that even if I want it. I would say Bioshock, Amnesia, Postal, or Fatal Frame to name a few but those aren't uncommon. In fact I believe Bioshock out of those 4 is probably the most requested on the game side of things. Also adding this because I saw it in the thread - I would actually love to see The X-Files as a license. Also editing this in - How could I forget. I want an Outlast chapter but that leans into most commonly requested. I love Outlast.
Character wise I feel Akira could give a survivor (Kaneda) and a killer (Tetsuo) that could also fit aesthetically although after Tokyo Ghoul's launch I'm on the fence if it would be a good idea. I just love the characters, aesthetic and story and feel at least visually BHVR could make them work although as for gameplay I don't know if they could make it work. A mix of telekinesis and the ability to manipulate organic matter are both super cool but it's more appreciation to the characters.

The Tall Man from Phantasm would translate perfectly into Dead by Daylight as a Legendary skin for The Twins. Charlotte becomes The Tall Man, while Victor is replaced by a Sentinel Sphere. Hovering at his side, deploying with mechanical precision, and extending its iconic blades during pounce attacks. This preserves the Twins’ gameplay while delivering a completely unique visual and atmospheric experience, bringing cosmic horror into the Fog in a way no other killer currently does.

Higurashi

No. Just no.
This is my most wanted Killer and The Tall Man has so many aspects that can be adapted and utilized as his power. Literally everything from his Lurker & Graver minions, Sentinel Spheres and Dimensional Forks is there to be used, and for him to just be relegated to that of a skin for a Killer that barely anyone plays, would be nothing short of a gigantic waste of potential, in every sense of the word.
Anything less than his own chapter is a straight up complete and total deal breaker for me. If i cannot have him as his own character, then i don't want him at all.

Absolutely should happen at some point, regardless of whether they choose the game or Marble Hornets or their own original variant for licencing.
He's easily one of the highest profile horrors we don't have.

I've talked about this one before but Jackie Estacado from The Darkness. If you have played the two games made in the 2000's or have read some of the comics, they can be pretty brutal and Jackie has a vast power set including summoning a black hole, plus his outfits are pretty awesome from his mobster suit to his costume he uses. His mori could be absolutely insane. If we cant get Jackie i will happily take Diablo or Spawn.
2 -
I get it. But givin BHVRs track record they may feel The Tall-Man is too niche. Might regulate him to a skin. The twins would fit.
I 100% agree though. A phantasm chapter with Mike and Reggie as survivors. Funeral Home Mausoleum map. The dwarfs etc... that would be amazing. Perhaps the dimensional forks to move around.
0 -
Except for the fact that with the way Victor moves by jumping, it wouldn't fit for a sentinel. Even someone like Skull Merchant would be a bad fit, despite also having drones. None of the killers really fit The Tall Man in any real way.
Also, the Dimensional Forks is arguably much more important to the character than the Sentinels and Lurkers are, since it's one of- if not the most defining aspect of his character, since it's directly related to his whole dimensional travel shtick and is how he's moving his zombie army around.
I repeat, if bhvr isn't gonna give me a Phantasm chapter, then they might as well not give it to me at all. It'd be way less disappointing to me, compared to the alternative of reducing the OG Slenderman and actual cult classic icon into that of just a skin.
In fact, the very thought of the idea lowkey honestly pisses me off slightly. I don't think that i would ever forgive bhvr for committing such egregious squandering of a cult icon.

to give bhvr some credit, they gave us Ringu instead of The Ring. you never know

After your responses I am inclined to agree with you. Let's hope they do it. Don Coscarelli wants him in the game. Im pretty sure he has reached out.
I do agree with you. A full chapter or nothing.

Dying Light, Night Hunter

outlast, dying light, the evil within are probably my top 3 for lesser popular IPs
2 -
Evangelion rarely gets brought up when it comes to possible anime/manga chapters. As far as more overtly horror media goes, Clock Tower and System Shock are rarely requested, because they are pretty niche.
1 -
Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Adam smasher as killer, Lucy and david as survivors. Neon city as map. I would pay $100 for this license.

If they make a Rebecca legendary skin (which would a crime if they don't) I would have a second survivor next to Eddie I would never kill cause I can't see her die again just like Eddie

I'd like to see the Legend of Zelda series in DBD. I know it's not horror (or even horror adjacent) but it's still had some incredibly dark and creepy enemies over the years.
I think Dead Hand would make an incredible DBD Killer. Imagine if he also had a couple of ReDeads walking about the map that could scream at you to freeze you in place (or reveal your aura).
I've wanted a spider Killer for some time now and I think the Armogohma from Twilight Princess could fit the bill pretty well, though I think they'd have to come up with a more engaging power for it. But I do like the idea of a Killer that could lay eggs around the map that hatch as a secondary power (I'm honestly still a little disappointed we didn't see face huggers be a part of the Xeno's power).
There's also the reoccurring Dark Link concept that I'm sure BHVR could rework into a more horrifying iteration. Being hunted by an evil, corrupted mirror image of yourself is definitely a scary thought.
Plus, with over 40 years worth of games to pull from, there would be huge potential for cosmetic skins from every era of Hyrule.
Obviously Nintendo would never approve of the series making an appearance in a horror game, but I still think it would be a cool if unexpected addition to DBD.

Since I havent said one, I might as well throw in that I really want Akira from Devilman as a killer.
As far as icons of horror in media, Akira is probably the most significant for manga and anime. Devilman was one of the most influential manga of its time if not in history on top of being incredibly horrific and generally befitting of DBD. I have never seen the reboot Crybaby before so idk how well THAT would fit but the original Devilman would be amazing, especially standing alongside Tomi.1 -
Critters. You could have the big Krite from the 1st movie as the killer if you wanted a 'normal' sized killer or the more typical sized ones for a 3rd person, chucky sized killer.
Ball form for a fast moving mode, able to shoot a hindering tranq dart on a cooldown, basic M1 chomp attack - boom, simple M1 killer with reasonable mobility.
5 -
Re:Zero. So much psychological horror disguised as a fantasy isekai.

Critters is a great one but I'd honestly rather have Gremlins if not both.

I second the X-Files!! 👽️ The Truth is Out There

Little Shop of Horrors!
It would be hilarious and terrifying to see a huge plant walking around, same way it is to see Chucky just waddling along.
Skid Row could also fit as a map in the new Sleepless District realm as a more impoverished sort of slum area with overgrown vines everywhere.
Also the funniest possible cosmetic in making the plant a puppet skin to honour the stage musical too

The newest season of From currently airing revealed a great option for a standout new killer addition, though it is a mystery show so I don't want to say their name.
A playable Boyd as survivor and map of the Town would heal my heart, ngl

Ready or Not 1 & 2. The main character, Grace would be a perfect survivor.
They Will Kill You. Zazie Beetz's' character Asia Reeves would also be an amazing survivor and fits DBD.
Dog Soldiers or The Howling. Come on, we've needed a true werewolf killer for years (Dracula doesn't count) and these two licenses are the best. Dog Soldiers almost works better because it has several excellent survivor options.
My Bloody Valentine. Yeah, I know there's a Trapper skin inspired by Harry Warden already in the game, but a proper license tie in would be sweet.
Pumpkinhead. How is this not already in the game!?
Phantasm. Others have already mentioned it in this thread, but The Tall Man, Reggie, Mike and Jody are pretty much ideally suited for this game. Give The Tall Man the kill spheres as his main power and add a Morningside Cemetery map with an evil dwarf jumpscare hidden on it, and you're set.
Manhunt. I figure this would work more as a cosmetic collection for existing killers and James Earl Cash as a survivor.0 -
I have also said that Dino Crisis would be a MUCH better IP for DBD than Jurassic Park ever would.
Dino Crisis (at least the first game) was made in a similar way to the classic Resident Evil games, being a survival horror game.
And Regina is like the Dino Crisis version of Jill Valentine, so that would be a great fit.
As for the killer, the Dino Crisis version of the human-sized Velociraptor would be an excellent candidate, much more so than the Indoraptor from Jurassic Park, as that would need to be scaled down a lot.Another license I would love to see in DBD would be "Fritt Vilt" (Cold Prey). A Norwegian made slasher movie series, inspired by classics like Halloween and Friday 13th.
The characters are also well established and recognizable, with the main character "Jannicke" (last name unknown) as the survivor, and the Mountain Man as the killer.Imagine seeing that guy coming after you. Tall as Myers, with a giant pickaxe as a weapon.

Sleepy Hollow
I wanna ride down survivors on a horse and take swings at them with a sword. Also, a good Decapitation mori + stuffing their heads in a bag would be great.

I would not want to live in that world. too many painful ways to go
