Why was Freddy nerfed upon his release
I tried to find some answers, but nothing was solid. Can someone please tell what made him super strong or whatever the reason for his nerfs was?
Thanks :)

People kept disconeccting against him,so the devs nerfed him.
At the time, devs had a big bias towards survs.

He was a bit tedious to face, and was like a mini Legion. So they nerfed him. I remember feeling relieved.

Because rank 21s and free-weekenders screamed and review-bombed the game, that's why. He was trash even prior to the nerfs, though.

They released the biggest noobstomper during a free weekend and nerfed him due to his 2x DC-rate.
He was pretty toxic to play though, 16m terror radius meant you couldnt escape even for a bit, he would stick to your booty. Survivors had to wake up before they could be healed. Which made him the god of slugging, since they couldn't tap each other from 99% to 100%, they needed 4.5s to wake up first and that progress wasnt saved. So he could check by and stop the wake up.
As soon as everyone was in the dream world, bad things happened when he slugged. I dont remember what it was, but it was really hard to wake each other up (if it was even possible) or heal at 50% speed, while Freddy has aurareading on everyone.
The aurareading stomped noobs (and still does) and the slugging was crazy strong. Would be cool if they kept the slugging theme, since survivors are really sleeping and lying on the ground ingame. A slugging killer would be interesting and freddy had all it took to become the slugging god. Rip

Besides the initial "complaint's" that got him hit a week in to release, the issue's that were changed:
*You would have to wake up a downed survivor before healing them.
*There was no Adrenaline Wake-up.
*There was no phasing during transition. (Apparently, i can't remember seeing this in game, but people back then complained about it.)
*There was no slow down once someone was "slept".
*There was no HUD indication of who was asleep.
As you can see, not much really and the actual changes were more Quality Of Life than anything. Anything else is really just pointing out how survivors weren't willing to try against Freddy, but that's not what you asked for, so i'll stop there.

His terror radius was increased

AH that's right, he had about 16m on launch?

@DudeDelicious he was impossible to escape, he could keep an eye on you, follow you around, pretty much keep the game one sided in his favour. He was very different.

Now we have to wait 1.5 years for the devs to buff him
Despite small buffs like changing enter dream from from 7 sec to 4 sec would be fine and require no effort

Like others have already said, he had a 16m terror radius, adrenaline wouldn't wake you up, you had to wake up a slugged survivor before being able to heal them, the slowdown was when you had your power up not after you've used it successfully (if I remember correctly) honestly, the only thing he needed changed about him was the terror radius. Survivors couldn't hide against him because of the almost constant aura reading. Although I do wonder what Freddy would be like now if the rank 21's didn't complain about him on the free weekend. Freddy was and still is the ultimate noob stomper

Someone else will complain about him influencing others as well

I don't really dig this guy's content, but back then he summed up pretty well how weak Freddy actually was (and still is) and why he shouldn't have been nerfed.

survivors complained instead of adapting.
the huge shitstorm from the survivor community at that time was enough to have the devs nerf him.
the good news is, that they learned from it and no longer listen to complaints that occur in the first 1 or 2 weeks after the killer got released, plus test the killer on the PTB first.
also, there is a upcomming freddy rework! stay tuned, late 2035 it will drop :D

Because instead of learning, survivors DCed against him.
Perhaps they are trying to go for the same thing now?

Freedy was ultimate slug master if he get you he dont lose you ever.Slug you and leave you he see you from every wher on map close far no mater.I think that time he is op real cloak not this what got wraith.Unlimited aura reading after put somone sleep. But freedy was good only for slug survs nothing more. After nerf he cant right now nothing. And his power is pretety useless for almost every one.

Because people complain to much about anything with this game.

His nerf was simply because new players who did not know how to play against him whined and complained to an extreme level. Its the same thing thats happening to MoM. Ppl just dont want to be challenged and adapt anymore, which to me is the best part of being a killer! I guess its just a sense of entitlement now that ppl have where they feel like the rewards should come easy, without having to work for it, or fail a few times. Any resistance given to them is a problem with the game not their skill level 😂
