I have genuinely never been so frustrated with the game (rant)

I am not one to complain very much, those who know me can probably even back me up on that. Even during some of the most infamous times of the games history I still pushed through because of the love I have for this game. But lately? This game is actually becoming so damn unbearable. Well over half of my games (60-70%) in the past week has had someone DC or give up at the very start/early in the match for the most dumb ######### which just spoils the rest of the match for everyone. Even when there wasn't a disconnect penalty and killing yourself on hook was much easier, it wasn't NEARLY as bad as it is today. There NEEDS to be proper punishment for these people because they are the most insufferable PoS. I had one who immediately threw themselves at me the moment the game started, I simply slugged him until he bled out (because ######### him for ruining the game) and then decided to farm with the rest of the team so that we could at least get something from the game. This guy waited THE ENTIRE TIME just to talk ######### in the end. We need MUCH harsher penalties than what we currently have and blatant giving up from the beginning of the game needs to be made a reportable offense because its getting ridiculous.

Then there's the new update where everything is just going to ######### with a lot more bugs that just make you question how the ######### does it even make it to live. In some cases it takes ONE. ONE GAME and you would realize something is wrong. Trickster for example, his spawn in animation is broken and he doesn't laugh when ranking up. Several killers having audio issues where they are WAY louder than they should be, and then of course there's the good ol' performance issues and crashing. Despite how buggy the game is I still decide to play it, I enjoy the game enough for it to not bother me enough. But now the game quite literally crashes every time it launches. These past few months were meant to be a "project health" and NOTHING changed. The quality of life features we have gotten are great don't get me wrong, but the game it self is still riddled with bugs and it really sucks to say that they probably aren't gonna be fixed any time soon.

And then cheaters.. I luckily have been lucky enough to not encounter to many of them but I know there are some people out there who unfortunately run into them quite frequently and it really makes you wonder how they've been able to get away with it for so long. I know its a never ending battle but it feels like the same cheats have been in play for SO long and it really feels as if nothing is being done to fix it.

It really does break my heart to write this. I've been a consistent player since 2017 and am reaching 8k hours, but I am so tired man. I just want to be able to jump into the game and have a good time, but it is literally impossible to do so. Please BHVR, get your ######### together.

I fully agree with the frustrations that you expressed, but in each case I think it’s a conscious business decision on BHVR’s part. For disconnectors and cheaters, if BHVR punished them more harshly, they would likely lose a lot of revenue and I truly think that’s why they aren’t doing more to discourage these things. They’re betting that most people will still play the game despite the cheating and disconnecting epidemic and they have been right so far.

As for the bugs, I also think it’s a business decision. Fixing the bugs, especially if they’re just more “cosmetic” issues, probably isn’t going to justify spending people hours which means spending $. BHVR is making a bet that the revenue lost from a few people who stop playing because of these beings is probably a lot less than the additional money they would spend fixing the bugs.

I've had similar problems. I dint care much when it comes to gameplay mechanics of the killer wants to hard tunnel, slug, 3 gen, or gen rush i have no complaints but what I couldn't stand was the players behavior. Survivors giving up over the most pitiful reasons start of the game and the entitled toxicity during end game chat. The devs while making some good changes here age there they still fail miserably on certain things. The operation health update last year was an absolute failure, devs aren't doing enough to punish players that give up too early or the end game toxicity, the cheaters are still rampant still using the cheap anti cheat system, and always breaking something with every update. Started when Oni came out and can't deal with the bs anymore.

Not going forward with the full anti going next package was a mistake. I wish they would've implemented it and then worked on ironing out the false flags and fine tuning it. There are still way too many people throwing games.

    I've been experiencing similar.

Survivor matches, someone brings luck offerings to give up or they just DC.

Killer matches, it's coordination I wish I'd see on my survivor with full knowledge of every loop rotation. Even winning feels like a chore.

Sadly, I don't think there's time to improve this game between now and then

In regards to the first section, Is it SWF people doing it? Region based?

I play mostly Soloq Survivor in Oceania region and Giving up and dcing people will do, but its defiantly not the majority of matches (if I had to give a percentage I would say 20-25% of the time someone will dc on either side. more or less depending on the killer.) and I feel like killer and survivor dc is around the same rate for me when you account for the number of survivors v killer.

When I do play killer (Play Billy, been playing more since map weighting was removed) will def see dcs especially see it getting a really early down with lethal but it honestly does not effect my experience in the match. ( Cheaters and bugs you mentioned effect experience of my match way more )

I just see it as "oh we can be more chill this game about Macro play and just try fun chainsaw shots in chase"
I may see it less because I only play Billy nowadays and he is a well loved killer, vs a Ghoul who I'm sure will see more dcs.

The talking ######### in egc I agree people should not be able to just yell at people in end game chat and that should be delt with

But in the example given, If he was giving up from the start if you killed him normally via hooking instead of bleedout he would of started to get hit with go next prevention, bleeding them out lets them avoid penalties. same if you slug them multiple times, they get abandon which allows them to avoid penalties.

Ive kinda just run out of stuff to do and content to enjoy ever since the end of bloodmoon. Didnt log in till the new rift, I even managed to finnish Subnautica. Ive gotten enough 100s that the one i am working on is 86 and i have no drive to get it finnished lol. Should probably save it for anniversary cakes. But even this current version of 2v8 is kinda tough to get into, so i just do the dailies for rift fragments and go back to other games.

Given that I was disconnected quite often in the past few weeks, while every other thing using the internet connection didn't even flinch (and twice got a penalty for that), I am much more reluctant to blame people for disconnecting.

A friend was also once punished for "not participating" although she just cleansed a totem and then simply was attacked on the way to unhook me. It was a short round because a billy was quite good we were unlucky, but noone threw and especially she didn't. The system notably didn't punishe me, even though I was downed first of all of us and barely got to do anything.

So before I ask for harsher punishments, I'd want them to be accurate.

if u punish people too much for quitting they would unisntall the game, means u will only have sweaty games and also lose of playerbase, and yes the cheating problem is serious problem, i get so many people banned recently.

    I agree.

And even if something does get fixed, it is way too little and far too late. Besides, for every problem fixed a new one appears. It has been an unfortunate truth for years and it is unlikely to change anytime soon.

The game has felt like a big bowl of spaghetti, ever since they moved from UE4 to UE5.
The code-base BHVR made back in 2016 has really overstayed its welcome, and I think it is high time that we get a rebuilt game from the ground up.

And @Shroompy I absolutely feel your frustration with the game. Players (and especially survivor players) outright giving up has been a bigger issue ever since 6.1.0 came around, but I guess it is getting worse and worse with every new update.
One more reason why I won't touch soloQ survivor these days
I would also call for more things to be reportable offenses, because the categories are a little vague.
As for cheaters, I still don't understand why the anti-cheat hasn't been improved, ever since the Epic free weekend, that brought in a slew of cheaters. Granted, I have not been running into them as much, but I have seen a few (mostly survivors insta-finishing gens or locking the killer in place), and videos of the terminator bots.
It also breaks my heart to see the game that I have spent over 2000 hours in is starting to crumble like this. I have been playing on and off since Halloween 2018, and I have been through big updates like the EGC, the MMR update, dedicated servers and 6.1.0 to name a few, but none has ever been as buggy or broken as the updates that has come after the Unreal Engine 5.0 update.

the mentions of UE5 being a core problem to all of this is something i've been saying for a long while. there's a very heavy reliance on a poorly optimized game engine with aged code. you can't be surprised that the game encounters an issue every time a BHVR dev does so much as look at it or breathe on it.

i'd argue that the DCing issue, however, goes all the way back to version 4 of the game at the minimum where cheating had a much higher prevalence before the major EAC upgrade. a lot of the things we're seeing now is just a repeat of history.

unfortunately the game is in that point of its lifespan where you're not going to see many more improvements to its infrastructure, even with a rewrite. a lot of the things that they've created are based on blueprints, which is going to be difficult to translate into proper code without them taking many years rebuilding the basics. they're going to be encouraged to take more shortcuts to meet deadlines than they are actually delivering a stable build of the game.
