Scott made a Video talking about why he doesn't want Jason in dbd saying that there is nothing behavior can do to make Jason and his kit interesting enough to make people want to play him

Is he right? Will this be another Krasue situation? Discuss

Jason is one of the iconic old school slashers. Dbd would lose a lot of it's already shredded horror reputation if they didn't atleast try. So who cares.

Besides, there's ways to make plain slashers fun if the devs decided to be creative about it.

I'm in two minds. I think Jason is a fantastic character, and in the right hands, I'm sure they could make him unique. My worry with Behaviour is that they make him a dash killer. I'm already bored to death of the reworked Myers; we don't need a Myers in a hockey mask, too.

I like Scott, he has good takes most of the time. He is dead wrong about Jason and he even admitted the only film he's seen is F13pt2 and then some clips here and there. He also said that the F13 game did a good job but said that if BHVR were to copy them it would be lame. I don't agree with that. Jason has been shown in other media (MKX) to teleport through the mist and fog and use various weapons which would make him a very unique addition to the game.

I trust BHVR on this one, there's no reason they wouldn't do a good job with him.

Eh. With that reasoning there shouldnt be any more killers - licensed or original - added amymore. The Community has complained about Killers feeling same-y for years now with the odd exception maybe..

thing is, new killers hold this game alive and are needed and expected. And Jason is the one huge licensed one thats missing and has no reason not to be in as a standalone Killer. Outside of licensing reasons of course. And considering the huge amount of Media he has been in, there is actually am abundance of possibilities for interesting powers..

Agreed, however even if he was just a regular m1 killer and nobody played him as long as he exists in game that is fine?

Scott thinks he'd be boring because his "Power" isn't unique, I think Scott doesn't understand where Jason's True strength lies.

Everyone knows Jason's 4 key abilities:

    1. Brute Strength - In the movies he's walked through closed doors/walls, picked up people in sleeping bags to smash against trees, even crushed a guys head with is bare hands to the point his eyes pop out. No Doubt Jason is very Strong.
    2. Immortality - No matter how much abuse or damage he takes, he always gets back up to kill again, even if he's dismembered, decapitated, frozen buried, blown up… He always comes back for the slaughter.
    3. Relentlessness - Once he wants you dead, he pursues until he gets you. Undeterred, untiring, unmatched in his sole objective to kill. He always finds you no matter where you are, as if he has a 6th sense for it, and no matter how slow he moves, you can neither run nor hide from this fiend.
    4. Surprise - Jason is overwhelmingly good at appearing when you least expect and killing off your friends without you ever becoming aware until it's too late. Even if you think you lost him, he's just around the corner waiting for you.

These aspects have all been done, and to a degree, Scott is right, but there is still 1 thing everyone overlooks about Jason that I believe could prove to be fun:

    5. Improvisation - Jason, actually, doesn't have a "Favorite weapon". Many believe its the Machete, because he uses them so often, but honestly… He uses whatever he finds lying around, and worse, He's good at using them. Baseball Bats, Oars, Knives, Corkscrews, Claw Hammers, Sledge Hammers, Rocks, Weights, Snares, Bear Traps, Throwing Axes, Chopping Axes, Throwing Knives, Javelins, Boat Hooks, Bows, Ropes, Chains, Knives, Harpoon Guns, you get the picture; Just literally anything that can be used to kill, he puts to work.

Now Imagine, you start a match and Jason has nothing in his hands, or maybe just a machete for his standard M1 melee attacks, but then he walks over to a locker, opens it, and SURPRISE… Now he has a Bow with 1 arrow good for an insta down! Or maybe he has a big ol Oar in both hands with double the normal Melee range? What if while he's chasing you, you suddenly end up in a Snare? How crazy of a concept does that sound?

To me, Jason has the potential of being the only killer capable of short, mid, and long range attacks as well as trap placing… And if done right with some limitations on spawn rate of these weapons + RNG, no one would ever know what new toy he found in a locker until he attacks. I think it would be lots of fun if they brought him into the game using this overlooked aspect as his Prime Ability.

    Would you play him?

As Scott says, he doesn't think Jason would be good in DbD because of the little research he did, he doesn't think they can do anything interesting for a power kit for him. As he also mentioned that if they do make a interesting power kit for Jason, he'd be fine with it, but this could possibly be a Krasue situation.

On release Krasue was played often because she was strong, she could end chases pretty quick. Shortly after BHVR made some changes like slowing down her Head form vault speed as well as her infection status was fully cleansed on hooking. This made her slightly weaker and less easy to garner success from her power kit which led to people dropping her. Her power kit isn't really interesting as I see it as a more mobile Nemesis whip with more cures to the infection.

I would have to think if he was a weapon switcher just weapons spawns around the map would they be infinite or one time use if like the bow was one time use would it respawn over time or no

Weapons that have limited uses or are instant downs, like the bow, harpoon gun, or Throwing weapons would have limited spawns, (maybe 1 or 2 of each), only a max of 3 ammo, and a lower possibility of spawning. Traps would likely also be limited to probably 4 and can't be reset or moved once placed. Longer reach Melee weapons like an Oar, Boat Hook (pole with a hook on the end) or Chain would be able to hit survivors across a dropped pallet, but have a longer recovery time, and medium spawn chance. Basic melee weapons like the Machete, Wood Axe, Corkscrew, Claw Hammer etc, I figured would just be interchangeable and plentiful, but maybe the really small ones like the aforementioned corkscrew, could have a unique attack that's also a 1 shot down, but you have to basically be touching a survivor to pull it off. Fun Fact: the first time Jason ever kills anyone in the movies is with a tiny Ice Pick.

Overall, I figured there's really a lot of lockers in each map, so it's unlikely you're gonna search all of them, so weapons may not even need to respawn at all, but that might get too limiting if you accidentally create a weapons "dead zone" for yourself by searching all the lockers in that area (like Shack, it either has 8 lockers or 2, depending on if basement spawns in it). I thought it would be fun if Jason also didn't know what weapon was in what locker without the help of a Very Rare or Ultra Rare add-on (something that only reveals the location of Ranged types or traps), just to give it the feel of being in Jason's shoe's and using whatever you find at any given moment.

Finally it would be great and thematically perfect if he just didn't even have a TR at all, or until he's chasing or attacking, and instead, if he's within a certain distance of you as a survivor, and can see you while you don't see him, you'd get the trademark "KI-KI-KI, MA-MA-MA" sound as your only alert. Not a Lullaby or TR, just a little warning that he's got eyes on you and might be approaching. It would fit him perfectly, especially if you have no idea what toys he's found to kill you with.

    Yes.

I mean, I would prefer if they gave him an interesting power, no dash-slop nor projectile, but having him in the game with a bad power is better than not having him.
