What happend with anniversary marketing?
Todays live stream has completely confused me, a lot of the hype has been taken away due to how fumbled this live stream event was.
To be clear, I am not outraged at the stream or anything like that, I am just utterly confused how they thought it was good marketing, especially when they where not clear on what the stream would be.
I feel like they have tried something experimental that has gone bad, marketing tends to be stella even if releases are fumbled.
eg. Krause I remember one ad that had older lady telling tale of Krause in native langue which was really well done.
I do think this could of gone better if it was made clear what the stream was gonna be "long form live feed footage" showing that they care about dedicated fans time. but instead I've seen someone post a email saying "you have to see this live" like its going to be some big event.
fun side note but tuned into scott jund coverage and this was the AI summary of chat.

What you're not enjoying 5 and half + hours of watching a shed in the woods.

I don't normally voice such displeasure with the developers, but this was such a poorly executed idea.
They needed to be CRYSTAL clear this was NOT going to be a reveal stream or anniversary stream.
Also I swear if this stream ends after 13 hours… all of the 13-related stuff was fun but at this point it's like, "okay we get it, it's Jason"
And if it's NOT Jason then that's even worse, because nobody else justifies all of the 13s. God forbid it's an original killer.

My favorite part was the person riding past on their bike. In all of the confusion, it's impossible to tell what was intentional and what was ineptitude.
Everyone thought this was going to be a big reveal or at least a good hint, but this was a pretty big fumble for the anniversary with the set-up and the execution so far.

Behavior killed the hype and anticipation for the reveal literally even content creators don't care anymore Devs need to issue an apology for those massive blunder

Otz was about to blow a gasket around 1.5 hours into it

Not surprising to be honest. For him it also started at 3:00 AM, he probably thought as well that there will be a short Trailer or Teaser, he then does some yapping about it for 15 minutes or so to react to it and then its done. And as a content creator you want to see it live ideally, but yeah…

Peak entertainment.
Watching paint dry? Nah. That's yesterday's program. Watching cabins is where it's at these days.

Some people are actually 'enjoying' it. I'm not kidding. Watching the paint dry is enjoying to them. This world gone crazy lmao

I feel bad for Otz. I feel bad for everyone who lives in EU and wasted their time on this nonsense.

I mean, idk if ‘enjoying’ is the right word. But I’m honestly just vibing. If anything, it’s the instant gratification that’s the trend these days.
I will say they shouldn’t have hyped this thing up.

well it can be something that some people enjoy. Nothing crazy about that tbh. And actually for nowadays pretty unusual as folks tend to have lower attention spans due to ‘tiktok-brainrot’.
The problem here is the expectation that was set. Or rather the absence of it. “Tune in 9 dm ET” doesnt really Tell us thats just the start of something longer, and people expected rightfully some dev stream or prerecorded video, nothing going on for multiple Hours..

The live stream didn’t start until 2am here in the UK, so I am so glad I decided not to stay up for it as I thought it was going to be a stream with the developers talking about upcoming cosmetics / collaborations and then ultimately announcing the anniversary chapter.
I would have been annoyed to be sat staring at a photo of a cabin in the woods when I could and should have been sleeping instead! lol

At which time was the bike man?

Within the first hour. Couldn't tell you when exactly

Saw this for a split second,

This is the same cabin that they did for the unknown on an aniversary ive been told. Along with rift hints im thinking its a second unknown chapter

You can see it here if you don’t feel like scrolling through the stream. :)

OhTofu streamed it for 9 hours but he's good at entertaining, was quite a laugh

I'm not really bothered by the stream itself - I see what they were going for. At least let people interact in chat unless they didn't really want to mod chat for 8+ hours then what ever. Stream did kind of kill my hype - just show the killer or don't make me feel like I'm going to miss something if stream ends when I leave.
Don't get me wrong - I can kind of see what they were going for. But stream is 9 hours so far and like a handful of things have happened. I think it's cool they got the timelapse going on but it feels like they misrepresented what the stream actually was. At the same time they didn't really say a lot.
Something is unfolding and it's me staying up late for nothing.

I was watching him I was too

A pretty clear example of the consequences of booting the staff who were previously able to execute great ARG content like Unknown's. Someone with their experience would've spotted the issue with advertising what is shaping up to be a 10+ hr "wait and see" livestream like this.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the idea, but you have to set expectations.

While I think a second Chapter like All Things Wicked would be cool, because Sable is without a doubt one of the most popular Survivors and Unknown is a fun Killer, if this would be the Anniversary Chapter, a lot of people would be very unhappy with it.

That chapter was another one that came to mind as good marketing/ advertisement, that one was so well done.

Yeah that's the email I saw posted It confuses me more what they expected viewers to do / expect
"Grab a seat the stream is happening now, you'll want to see it for yourself "
well its been 10 hours where they expecting people to watch it in full 😂2 -
Weird stuff started happening once the scene got dark and fog started rolling in.

Jason is confirmed folks!
3 -
I said it will happen on the 13th hour.

damn they sneaky they removed the end part from stream on youtube had to watch on otz steam 😂
Edit; as going to post screenshot i guess we did have to be their live1 -
I suspect it's because youtube has a video length limit of 12 hours.
And this one was 13 hours and a bit.
Maybe they'll post the final bit separately later.

You are most likely about stream time was so confused as i just peaked at it few mins prior then noticed it was ended.
Clip if anyone has not seen1 -
I liked all the appearances from other characters during the stream. Unknown, and I'm pretty sure it was Trapper and Legion in there too. And of course some survivors leaving the camp-fire with their torches. Were there any other references in there?

Artist, duh.
You pointed this out to me yourself.

How could I forget the birb 🤦♀️

They are in pictures and videos like the one @MortalKombxt shared, but I remember it was at the 17 maybe 18 minute mark because I messaged my friends saying "I think it's just a static image" the same time they rode past. The timing made me laugh at the time.

Yeah, it was poorly executed.
The concept isn't inherently bad — the issue lies with a failure to manage player expectations.
This would've 100% worked if they'd just silently started streaming the footage in the night, and then we all woke up the next day like "Oh, BHVR has been streaming this eerie cabin for hours. What does it mean? Let's search the footage for clues."
But marking it in the roadmap, promoting it on Twitter, and emailing people that we should tune in to watch it live gave the impression that it was going to be a more traditional stream and reveal. By announcing this early, they gave players expectations that then couldn't be met.
