I don't get why people are saying "jason is boring and won't bring anything to the game"
For examples:
We already had hillbilly (guy with a chainsaw/run fast and one shots) when we got Leatherface (guy with a chainsaw) and oni (run fast and one shots), guess what? Everybody loves bubba and his power is unique enough
We already had michael myers (stalk insta kill) and pig (crouch and stealth) when we got ghost face (stalk insta kill/crouch and stealth) and guess what? Ghost face is different enough to be it's own thing, and it's one of the favorites
We already had Wraith (Turns invisible, can't m1 and run faster) when spirit (Turns invisible and run faster) and sadako (turns invisible, can't m1) people love both
We had huntress for deathslinger and trickster
Pyramid head for Artist
Freddy Krueger, sadako Etc for dredge
Nurse and demogorgon for wesker
Nemesis for Xenomorph
Pig and ghost face for chucky
Nemesis, Spirit and Wesker for Dracula
Dracula wolf and slinger for houndmaster
Blight and legion for kaneki
Huntress and sadako for spring trap
Plague for krasue
All their powers are "similar" But BHVR made them all unique in their own way by giving them different gimmicks and gameplay loops, or making a different power style for each one (hillbilly and bubba for example), thinking Jason will just be "M1 killer like trapper or having some reused power" is ignoring the rest of the entire roster, and if so, what's the problem? None of the killers before besides dracula for some reason were a problem, but now Jason is somehow "too boring for the game"
I'm very positive and certainly gonna have fun with him, like i have with all the other killers :)

No matter what bhvr adds in, there are people who is going to hate it. Just ignore them.
I love the stream and I love Jason. Haters gonna hate.

Three words: dashslop anti loop.
Either he will have at least one of these or he will be forgotten in a month like Springtrap was. At that point we already have trapper and enough dashslop to solve world hunger 10 times over.
-3 -
Springtrap wasn't forgotten about in a month lmao, he's not a pubstomper but he's still a very, very popular pick. Also, it seems you clearly hate DBD, so why bother playing? Masochism? What is a "good" killer to you? Skerchant?

Given behaviors pattern I think it's the case but would rather be proven wrong

Holy assumptions batman. Kaneki, blight, and myers are more popular than Springtrap. Guess what they all have? Dashslop. For all the hype around a fnaf chapter, he is only sitting around 5%. That's miserable for one of, if not the most wanted license, maybe save Friday the 13th. He should be sitting at at least 8 or 9% for how much people were begging for him. Unfortunately no dashslop, so a measly 5% he remains. The same will happen to Jason, which was the point of my comment.
it seems you clearly hate DBD, so why bother playing?
Nuance is a spectacular thing once someone is able to identify it. I know you're trying your hardest to dunk on me, but you're going to have to try better than sarcastically suggesting Skull Merchant as a "good" killer in my book lol.

…Just checking Nightlight now, that "measly 5%" puts Springtrap as the 3rd most popular Killer in the game. Wesker and Ghoul are the only ones above him around 5.5%. This is consistent with previous lists where 5% is usually the average for superstar, highly popular Killers. Springtrap is undeniably keeping up with the dashslop.
The only way any Killer in this game can approach double digit popularity anymore is to be a new release. Expecting Springtrap to be pulling 8-9% usage a year after his release is just silly

Don't rely on Nightlight stats are not reliable Ghoul is currently at 8% pickrate

Yeah that site just collects data from the small pool of people who use the site. Most people don't who play this game.

Correct

Have you met this community? Nobody is ever happy lol

According to actual official stats provides by bhvr, kaneki has an 8.1% pick rate at high mmr. Blight has 7.6%. Wesker has 5.4%. Even myers is higher with 4.7%. Springtrap is sitting at 4.1% at high mmr. Springtrap is only 5.6% across broad mmr. He's literally being outpicked by Myers. Myers.

After a string of more complicated powers I actually wouldn't mind something simple and straightforward.
As long as it's viable anyway.10 -
Personally I’m not upset about Jason being added because I’m sure they’ll find ways to give him his own identity. But overall, it does feel a bit underwhelming to me. It doesn’t feel like something that really changes or evolves the game in a substantial way, it just adds another famous face to the roster.
Don’t get me wrong, Jason is incredibly iconic, but for the BIG 10 year anniversary, I was hoping for something that impacted the game as a whole moving forward. Not just a new chapter, but something that made the anniversary itself feel special and significant for DBD overall
If you told me Jason was the next random licensed chapter, I would’ve believed it because this doesn’t really feel “anniversary big” to me. It kind of feels like the same thing we get every chapter cycle.
That said, I’m excited for the people who have wanted Jason for years. This is just my personal opinion.

Ok, using those stats from the end of March, he is being outpicked by the 2nd most popular Killer in the game in broad MMR, 4th most popular in high MMR. In the broad MMR range, he is the 3rd most popular Killer in the game like the Nightlight stats suggested, in high MMR he is the 5th.
In what world is the 3rd-5th most popular Killer in the game a failure everyone has forgotten about? This feels like a Square Enix shareholder report bruh

A long time ago, but the amount of people this time is astronomical, i suppose some youtuber made a video saying this or something like that

I think Jason's own game proved it's very possible to make a fun moveset for him, obviously I'm not saying copy paste him from that game (Because that game and dbd work very differently) but people acting as if he's doomed to be boring just because his character is kinda simple doesn't make sense to me
5 -
"Broad MMR" being another word for people that play for 20 hours and drop the game. Let's be actually real for a second. High MMR is the category of people that actually play the game and don't just play because their favorite comfort franchise is in dbd and drop it because there is an actual skill curve that's shaped like a perpendicular line.

In a game with 41 killers, the average pickrate assuming a world where everyone is equally popular would be 2.44%. Killers being over that number means there must be others under that margin, especially since Blight and Ghoul are over thrice as popular as the mean%.
Springtrap being at 4.1%, it stands to reason he's more popular than a lot of the cast as of current. I don't really see how that can be labeled as forgotten inclusion.
1 -
Likely. That's the state of modern gaming, unfortunately:
2 -
I feel the same, and I'm glad you have several upvotes because i felt like this was probably an unpopular opinion. I don't want them to go crazy complicated on him.
3 -
I will say this, Jason is my favorite slasher of all time right next to Michael. If I wake up on tuesday and look at the PTB and find out Jason has a uninspired dash of any kind, i will quit DBD and never post on this forum again no ifs ands or buts. One slasher already got character assassinated and made into dashslop, i will not stand for another.

I understand it but i think it's ok for him to have some small dash thing to break walls or whatever, as long as it's not his only thing

He's an unstoppable force, I feel like smashing through pallets and breakable walls should be a given. Also a decent lunge.
