Are you satisfied with Jason's power?
I mean the overall concept of it. We'll see tomorrow how actually fun and balanced he is.
Imo I don't hate it but this the second anniversary in a row to have a mobility + projectile killer. Kinda underwhelming for 10th anniversary. I like the stealth aspect, the spear toss is alright. Still wished for rage mechanic or some form of a command grab.

In my opinion his power looks cool to me and has some fun concepts, though they could have done so much more with it and had so much more fun with it.
I am more angry at the quality in his animations.1 -
I do wish the animations and character models were better. I understand they’re limited by the game engine but it would be nice if the graphics were on par with the latest Mortal Kombat game so we can have fatality level moris

just as everyone expected, its just Trapper 2.0 /s
Phasing and map mobility were in some form expected, or should have been expected. Personally not a fan of projectiles but I guess the way its implemented it at least fits Jason-7 -
Anything can be polished and the ptb is not meant to be a polished version for release. All animations will likely see significant improvement before release

i’m not a fan of his projectile ability. it seems like over time, the best and most efficient way to use it will be to hard zone the survivor until the hit is guaranteed (just like every other projectile killer). the mobility part of the power is really cool. the funniest part of his power imo is the fact that he can snatch a hook off of one of the hooks around the map when his power is not in his hand.
13 -
No.
Straight up projectile slop. Again.
Now, I must admit that I wanted for Jason is largely a copy from the F13th game. And granted, he had a projectile there, but those were not only an extra when compared to his other powers, but they were also limited. You could run out of them, especially in longer games.
I didn't want projectile as a primary ability at all. It is unfortunate, but I won't play him.

I don't really care about how the engine limits things, it's just the basic quality of how the animations look and feel that just don't sit right with me at all. His arm bends in a extremely weird way in his weapon wipe (I do assume that will be fixed, it SHOULD be.), his pickup looks wrong, the animations look both too stiff and too smooth and don't have that "OOMF" like other killers have, it just looks wrong.
2 -
I hope so.

Thanks for giving the specifics of what feels off to you! I can make sure this is passed on to the team.
13 -
it's very overtly a direct upgrade of springtrap, power creep isnt new to the game but this is just like a 1:1 but stronger version of an existing power
i dont like how killer designs seem to be in an arms race with how strong survivors are getting, it just means the weaker parts of the old cast get left behind
13 -
My friend from what I can see his primary power isn't in fact a Projectile. Its the ability to sneak up on survivors in a fog atomosphere while choose which side to ambush them on whether pallet or window thus blocking it for a little while. The projectile is a single spear. If you get a hit nice, if not its okay. He bascially has a stronger verison of spirits power or perhaps even old freddy the way he is able to appear on survivors.

Ryan… my goat…

Maybe I'm missing something… he's just a powercrept version of springtrap. Faster in general, better map traversal, better stealth, better ranged attack. Like?
13 -
hes just a reskin on springtrap tbh. Same power same status effects just wow he can pick up a projectile from hooks and go invis while teleporting
-3 -
Another teleporter with a projectile. I couldn't be less interested.
His mori's are cool though.

I'll see tomorrow, but not thrilled with another Killer Instinct killer since it bypasses so many perks. Does Elusive work on KI?
3 -
No, it does not.
1 -
killer instinct bypasses everything. nothing in the game can protect/shield you from killer instinct.
6 -
People are comparing him to Springy, meanwhile I'm seeing a superior Deathslinger
5 -
I think he will be fun to play as and I don't really mind if his power is maybe a little too reminiscent of Spring Trap. I skipped out on that Killer because I couldn't give a hoot about FNAF and that goofy looking robot. Truthfully, I would have bought him on day 1 regardless because he's Jason, but he's still the first Killer that I've been remotely interested in playing since The Ghoul.
All that said, my Survivor soul is getting a little tired of every new killer having a bit of everything in their kit with very few (if any) weaknesses. But we'll see if that's really the case tomorrow. I don't blame BHVR for this, since the community seems to prefer these jack of all trades, master of none style Killers over the more specialised characters of the old days. It's where the player base seems to be now. The last Killer with a simple, straight-forward power didn't exactly get a warm welcome, either.

The fog looks really cool in the videos.
Will see tomorrow. But he looks pretty strong to me.
3 -
Ghostface really needed that kind of mobility. :/
3 -
looks very cool . Also neat that they balanced his teleport but making it so you can't go directly to gens but instead pallets or vaults .

I like the weapon pin mechanic a lot, as well as Jason ripping the spears from the environment. Having him come up out of nowhere and stick your teammate to a wall sounds like a great moment.
If the idea was to blend his adaptability and brutality together into a cohesive power, it works! Although yeah, this is a similar archetype to last year's anniversary, and power creeping a fair amount of the cast.
The Fog demanifesting form seems less like a secondary ability and more like another primary power. Getting a spirit/bat form esque stance swap on top of an already competent ranged power is a good way to ensure The Slasher doesn't fall below A tier.
Overall, Jason seems like a very high skill ceiling, high potential killer. I'm not the biggest fan of ranged powers, but I've gotten a fair amount of practice with Springtrap releasing, and I do like abilities like Dracula and Spirit, so I want to invest effort in learning how to play Jason when the PTB drops.
2 -
Spirit is literally a top 5 killer. He has ranged AND a better spirit power? Everyone who cares about match integrity should be upset with this design.
-4 -
I'd like to get him out in PTB to test properly before we start getting "Upset" about his power design that nobody but early access has tried yet. There could be some more in's and outs to his kit we don't know yet until we give it a try.
6 -
It's okay to be wrong.
-11 -
I don't really get the springtrap comparison tbh. Springtrap is only teleporting next to gens otherwise he's Huntress with a 100lbs hatchet. Jason meanwhile can appear anywhere there's a pallet or window and can actually be used in chase so he's waaaay more dynamic with his teleport. As for the projectile it seems nowhere near as weighted as the fire ax and reload seems faster and the pinning mechanic will have niche applications in forcing people into dead zones on certain maps.
Jason is in the same killer archetype sure but they're absolutely not the same killer. As for Jason being judged on his own it's interesting cuz if Jason came 6 or 7 years ago people would be losing there minds over how cool he is and to me at least he really feels like early DBD killer in his simplicity while still being strong and that's great considering the world of power bloat we've fallen into recently. I think it's just a case of it being 10th anniversary and Jason does nothing to reinvent the wheel that's disappointing to people.
But to me Jason is the most DBD killer we've gotten in a very long time. No weird counter items no far out killer props just jump scares, a reasonable chase power and brutal mini moris that feels strong and I think that's all Jason needed to be, that's how you create a killer as popular as Huntress and Hillbilly.
Also side note I know a lot of people are worried he'll be overpowered but you know his ass is gonna struggle on Lery's and Hawkins lol.
3 -
its not a better spirit power because how you sue them is different. there are things spirit can do with her power which jason can not do
0 -
Idk if I called it a direct upgrade his omnipresent evil I think is better then springtraps doors but his Spike throw I think is just bad if you miss your throw your just an M1 andy and if there's no piles around to reload your pretty screwed even if there was piles you'd have to divert from chase to reload wasting even more time while spring trap can just throw every 6 seconds
Also if you reload as jason from a hook it breaks the hooking spot so which seems like a bad idea to do cause if you down someone and reload from a hook your potential dead zoning yourself?
1 -
Considering that he cant chase freely with his demanifest to get an immediate hit like Spirit can, comparing the 2 powers is very iffy.
3 -
Thing ive noticed unlike all projectile Killers who have a windup sound and slows down whole holding.
Jason has a very fast windup and no windup noise and no slowdown so he's gonna be unreactable and have extreme zoning potential this is gonna be awful for survivors0 -

-
He can get his projectile from hooks and those are EVERYWHERE
2 -
I can literally say the exact same thing to you, that is hardly an argument.
If you wish to discuss this matter, at least present an actual point.
13 -
Ghostface needs everything.
4 -
Its not at all a better spirit power spirit is completely sound based which makes people with hearing conditions like me ever so frustrated with her but she can phase and emerge from anywhere.
Jason can only phase and emerge from pallets and Vault locations so he's like a weird spirit dredge hybrid which jason is gonna have the problem if there's none of these locations nearby he's gonna have it rough
1 -
Correction Elusive does protect you from killer instinct
0 -
Its meh. I like the moris and omnipresence though.

The comparison to Springtrap is interesting. I don't think the game has much room for anything truly unique at this point, but kind of disappointing to think about a repeat exactly one year later.
I never like the idea of Jason teleporting, but kind of accepted that it was inevitable. I was expecting multiple powers, thought there would be more (i.e. four weak powers instead of two strong powers), but not really surprised with the direction.

I am personally very excited for Jason but all I gotta say is if I had a nickel for every time we got a ranged killer with a mobility stealth power for an anniversary chapter I would have two nickels. which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. But at least Jason’s looks like it’ll be more fun for me.
4 -
What's his base movement speed?
0 -
I don't really get the springtrap comparison tbh. Springtrap is only teleporting next to gens otherwise he's Huntress with a 100lbs hatchet. Jason meanwhile can appear anywhere there's a pallet or window and can actually be used in chase so he's waaaay more dynamic with his teleport. He's got a projectile, but it's a little better.
He's got a teleport, but it's a little better.
Will that pan out in the PTB and (more importantly the live release), I don't know. I'm sure the smaller differences will become important, but a first look at the killers just make Jason looks like a Springtrap with some of the downsides removed.

4.4

mmm considering by gameplay how unpredictable his teleport and projectile is, it makes sense
1 -
Ig they did it because of the range attack but u have to remember he gains more movement speed after the omni power.
1 -
I'd like to not pretend that he doesn't have the most overloaded kit, and anyone with eyes doesn't need a ptb to realize how overpowered he is.
-10 -
Literally just quoting with MechWarrior3 said.
-5 -
Well you're very survivor bias so it makes sense you would say this, which is fine. My point stands. We should wait till PTB rolls out so we can see his kit a lot better. If he is too strong, then bhvr should make adjustments and not wait like they did for Ghoul.
4 -
It's actually not fine. There shouldn't be any bias to begin with but killer and survivor bias is exactly what ruins game balance to begin with.
