My very short and early thoughts on Jason’s power.
I do not care if I have hearing problems, I do not care if I can’t see survivors while using his mobility, and I do not care that he doesn’t even come with a new map or survivor. I love Jason and I will play him like there is no tomorrow no matter how many 30 minute queues it takes.

I miss Friday the 13th: The Game, man... I guess this will do for now.

All of that is fine, but I do have an issue with the projectile.
It shouldn't be there, and if it has to be it should be one of many abilities, like Dracula or Vecna, where it is an extra.
Straight up projectile slop, once again. As if Springtrap wasn't enough of a slap to the face.

I disagree. Mainly because he used a variety of weapons as projectiles as the survivors tries to flee from him. Friday the 13th Part VIII had him throwing an axe on the ship Lazarus. He used spearguns and harpoons in Part III and Part VIII. He also used throwing knives in F13 the game.
It fits imho.

Sure, range fits him more than Springtrap, but it still shouldn't be a primary ability.
Compare the number of ranged kills with the number of melee kills within any movie except Part V since Roy doesn't count for the discussion. It could have been there, but as an extra.
Think of the game, it is a good example. You had throwing knives and bear traps, but unlike your primary abilities, those wouldn't come back. There were a limited amount of them, with knives scattered across the map, and bear traps restricted to your starting amount. Sense, Shift, Morph, Rage, and Stalk, were your effective powers, and I would have preferred something based on that feel of relentless pursuit and stealth than a projectile slop be the primary tool you are using.
I'm incredibly disappointed.

I understand where you're coming from yet it's like this. If Jason were to have a multitude of powers, where does it cross the line for being borderline strong or weak? If he had a projectile, bear traps, rage mechanic, and teleport then all his powers would have to be evenly distributed. You also have to look at simplicity and complexity sake. Who is the audience they go for?
I'm not sure how anyone could balance something like this. It would be another Xenomorph situation all over again and I'd rather not have games where survivors disconnect or give up like they do against the Ghoul.
I'm satisfied he can teleport and break dropped pallets. And I could always dedicate a build by using endurance, spirit fury and whatever breaks pallets faster.

If Dracula and Vecna can exist just fine with multiple powers, there is no reason Jason couldn't follow a similar theme.
-4 -
I couldn't enjoy Vecna because of the weapon wheel design. Dracula had several balance changes players solely focused on 1 ability.
I just don't think it's a good idea.
5 -
I'm not thrilled about him being ranged tbh, but I still plan to play him. Waited too long not to
3 -
I understand what you are saying, but it is very much possible.
Both Dracula and Vecna exist just fine, they both received their fair share of balance changes, for sure, but they are both in good spots these days. They could have done the same for Jason.
F13th is my second favorite horror franchise, and I loved the F13th game, so having Jason Voorhees being nothing more than projectile slop is incredibly disheartening.
You would think I would be prepared for disappointment after all these years, but I wanted to have fun with a character I hold dear.
I really, really wanted him to be fun.

Maybe I'm missing something… he's just a powercrept version of springtrap. Faster in general, better map traversal, better stealth, better ranged attack. Like?

BHVR was cursed from the start because they were never going to make a killer that satisfied everyone. That being said half his power is utilizing the fog which is very Jason like. Yes the other part is a projectile we have seen before. That being said is the new thing calling every killer "x power slop". I mean seriously at this point just be happy he actually got into the game, let alone people seem to forget that this is a LICENSED IP. They do not have full control over what the power is. The license holders have a huge say in how he plays and they signed off on this.

Okay, I admit I haven't seen all of the Friday the 13th films, but when did Jason ever have a teleporting ability?
1 -
its an inferred ability since he shows up in an impossible manner at a speed and distance that you couldnt get even if running and jason doesnt run
2 -
It fits but I feel like they only defaulted him to only a projectile thrower he could of had more tbh

just say u want f13 the game back bro everyone does 😂
2 -
What are u talking about? He ran in the movies…
Skip to 2:20

i havnt seen every movie and the ones i have were a very long time ago but im still quite certain hes absolutely not known for running.
either way, there are many scenes where running does not justify the location shift. Hence the inferrence which if i remember right, the IP holders agree with when the f13 game was made

You're spreading misinformation is what you're doing.
-3 -
i was incorrect that in 3 movies of the 12 there are a few scenes where he was running yes that is true.
but in the majority and in the version of jason that this ip is, he doesnt run.
also, from my understanding he was running before he was the more supernatural zombified version which is the version in dbd.
and jason literally cant run to get to appear in some of the locations he does either way. hope this answers your question.
