Xenomorph is fantastic
after a recent post i made about this killer, i decided to go and buy him to try him out and by the gods. I have never enjoyed a killer as much as i did in my one game as this killer. I am dogwater at aiming the tail attack but i feel once i have practice i can do better. I generally thought i would lose the game, because of this Yui with a flashlight who would not stop being a thorn in my side, however i hit a really cool attack tail attack as she fell down a ledge, downed her and controlled the game from there.
what a fun killer, i also enjoy the thrill of exiting a station that has survivors next to it

Glad you're enjoying him. He's my favorite killer !
While the Tail Attack provides immediate satisfaction as a chase power, I think the tunnels are actually the most interesting part of the kit.
The tail wins chases, but the tunnels brings a macro dimension to the killer that is incredibly satisfying, both from a gameplay perspective and from the fantasy of playing a Xenomorph.
Being able to check generator progress, hear footsteps underground, intercept rotations and ambush survivors feels incredibly rewarding (plus, the visual and audio ambiance are fantastic).
I honestly think there is still a lot of unexplored potential there. We have OnePumpWillie showing what's possible with Sadako's macro game, but I've never really seen a "OnePumpWillie of Xenomorph" pushing the tunnel network to its absolute limit.
What makes that style so interesting to me is that it's less about mechanics and more about information. Anyone can see a generator at 70%, but remembering where every survivors are, predicting where they'll rotate next and using the tunnels to intercept them is much harder. That's where the real depth of killers like Xenomorph, Sadako or Dredge comes from in my opinion.
I really love this adaptation. It captures the Alien : Isolation gameplay loop remarkably well, moving through the vents, gathering information and suddenly appearing with overwhelming lethality.
Survivors, in turn, have to survive the Alien using Motion Trackers and Flamethrowers, just like in Isolation.
I think that's why the turrets don't bother me as much as they bother some other Xeno players. If you get knocked out of Crawler Mode, the tunnels are the answer. You can recover your power, reposition somewhere else and threaten another part of the map before survivors have time to reorganize (and it is very thematic and accurate to the IP).
The Tail Attack gets the highlights, but the tunnels are what made me fall in love with the killer from a gameplay perspective. Then again, it already had me at "being Alien".
I hope you continue to enjoy it !

Check out a youtuber named Mr. Headache, he's a Xenomroph main and wrote an exhaustive Xenomorph build guide which Otzdarva once gave a shout out to. He does match reviews of replays people send him to try to point out how they can improve, too. I don't agree with him on everything he talks about in regards to the game as a whole, but he's a great resource for learning the killer.
