Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

How do I judge meters?

Hello all,

I am trying to get a better feeling for whispers, but have no idea how large a 32meter radius is. I don't know what a meter looks like in game.

Can anyone help me? How far out is 5meters, 10, 20, 30? Anything would be appreciate as I have no point of reference.

Thanks!

Most killers have a terrorradius/heartbeat of exactly 32 metres. So if you play survivor from time to time, you should get a feeling of it.

I do, but Im almost always watching for skill checks, so I don't see them, just hear it.

Sadly I have no feeling of it yet.

thank you so much for all your help so far

The best way to get a good visual representation is to get someone into KYF and ask them to stand somewhere and judge from there (either as Killer or Survivor).

I can try giving you a slightly accurate representation though. If you are standing in the outskirts of the Ormond map (not the side with the Killer Shack, the opposite one), and the Killer is standing in one of the side corridors of the lodge, thats around 32m.

Thank you all for your advice!

I do not have any friends, so if anyone would be willing to practice the 32m range gauge with me I'd greatly appreciate it! I'll happily help you with nurse blinks or whatever you need in the future!

One way you can also judge is in a game without any hook offerings from either side the distance between each hook is 16 meters. So if you're standing at one hook and can see clearly in the distance to say 2 hooks lined up.

Then that's roughly 32 meters give or take depending on angles and where you're standing as well as which direction the hook is facing.

You don't need KYF. It is easy to understand terror radius if you understand movement speed.

Survivors run at 4m/s. 32 meters takes 8 seconds for a survivor. Just get a chronometer and run in a straight line from a tree to anywhere, it will give you the true distance.

Awesome, the 4m/s thing did the trick. Thanks a ton!

Fully loaded nurse blink is 20m, max chain blink is 12m. Without addons.

Use these two perks, make your choice and devore hope. Myc helps you learn how far 32 meters is and devore helps you know how far 24 meters is. By useing these perks 24 and 32 meters will just become a thing you will know and the 8 meter difference can be used for some measurement.

The best way is to place Scratched Mirror Myers, the mentioned Add On has a aura seeing range of exactly 32 meters, when paired with Whispers you can judge the meters with pinpoint accuracy.

Trapper moves 4,6 metres per second. Walk with Trapper and count seconds while you are walking and you can tell how many metres you walked in this time.

If you know about about how the maps are built, the average tile is 16 meters across (though a few are larger). Using that, you'll know that as soon as whispers (tier 3) activates, somebody is exactly two tiles away.

Run like devour hope or make your choice and back away from the hook till it lights up indicating 34 meters or on survivor run bond and test that way

Thank you for the reply. That seems like a simple calculation, but what is a 'tile'? How do I know when a tile begins/ends?

"Tile" is a segment of the map. Whenever you load into a map, tiles load randomly (but respecting certain rules) and thats what causes maps to vary each time you load in. Each tile usually holds a specific structure, like a jungle gym, a building, debris with pallets, hills, etc.

The best sample is probably The Game map, where each individual room is a specific tile.
