Why does killer abandoning make it so survivors escape
Mild rant but gnuine question if all four survivors are incapacitated and I don't want to spend 3 minutes finding and hooking survivors and I abandon they all escape? That makes zero sense they put themselves in that situation.
Same thing if I'm playing Twins or Nurse and people disconnect 24/7 I lose out on kills because people don't wanna play against them. While yes I could play against bots that is extremely unfun because there is no feeling towards winning you can't think to yourself wow those were really good players I'm glad I won or wow they were really bad they must think I'm insane at the game or something
Or if survivors just don't do generators for 10 minutes and hide I get zero reward for wanting to spare peoples time destiny 2 has this when you win for too long they stop the game
Yeah kill rate doesn't matter but its still annoying to reward people for bad plays

- The game can't tell if you intentionally slugged everyone or if the survivors were idiots and you capitilized on it.
- Its not a guarantee that a slug wouldn't get lucky with hatch nor could the game tell. Same with bots.
- Usually "abandoning" a match would mean your in a lost position already. Take for example the requirements for survivor to abandon. Killers being able to abandon if gens don't get done in a certain time is odd, but im chalking that down to punishment for how killers would camp gens during the erupt over brine era instead of actively hunt down players.

I'm pretty sure the game is voided in that situation. On the stats page it might show as escapes but that's a visual thing, it doesn't actually impact on escape rates

For MMR purposes the abandon on 10 minutes of gens not being finished is a loss to the killer. Its there so you can just get out of the match if you don't want to waste more time in it but in the end you have not won the match as that usually indicates a stalemate in the match but its not most of the time anyway over. The few times I have seen it used the match was noway over survivors were doing what they could but for reasons gen did not get popped in the 10 minutes. It never has been at least for me that killer was somehow winning it just causing time stalling.

Who cares about MMR in this case? MMR is not some prize you gain for winning games, MMR is just for matchmaking purposes.
People really should stop caring about that flawed and failed system.

I was saying that the game considers it a loss and some people do care about it. I don't care about it myself but just thought to point this out as its not a win for the killer by the games own logic. Still from your statement you seem to care about it enough to call it a flawed system.

One of the moderators (forget who) on this forum clarified that if ANYONE abandons at any time (rather than exiting normally from the end-game lobby when the match is finished) then the entire match is throw out for all BHVR data.
Which I find funny, as if that moderator was correct, how many survivors will abandon during the Mori? Entire match just never happened for ANYONE. No MMR gain, no MMR loss, no data on kills and escapes for BHVR… nothing… The match never happened. You got your BP that's it.0 -
That doesn't sound right, as Peanits has said in the past that whenever a person DCs in game, results are voided for that specific player. Since abandons are functionally the same as DCs (just minus penalty), I can't see why it wouldn't work the same way. Because otherwise, as you said, they'd have no data. Peanits said the non-DCing players still get MMR gains or losses as normal for their progression that game.

I am very sure that you misunderstood something here. For the stats BHVR releases matches are not included if they contain a DC. But for the MMR gain/loss matches with DCs count in general, they are just voided for the player. Consindering how many Survivors simply DC when they are the last one, the majority of the games would be insignificant for the MMR, which just is not true.

They've made very little statements about abandons and their effects on matches since they were installed. As others above said you're mixing up DCs and abandons.
The problem with abandons is I recall them saying that bots give no MMR, being empty shells, so you can essentially smurf by repeatedly slugging, or 4man slugging, to try to make people abandon. I also regularly get survivor teams that will try to get me to down everyone when it's going badly so they can all abandon. They're probably just doing it to go next but if it allows them to keep MMR they should have lost, the system is even worse than it appears on the surface.

Ok? Obviously I care about the nonsense-matchmaking, since I have to play under this, lol. What is even your point here? That the system is flawed is obvious, it is even worse than Rank-Matchmaking back in the day. The biggest problems there happened when they reworked it to only be set back 1 Rank Color, because the players who barely reached Red Ranks were at Red Ranks immediatly, which made the overall experience worse.
And the by far biggest flaw back then were Rainbow Ranks where the matchmaking completely failed and grouped Red Ranks together with or against Green or even lower Ranks. And this is what we basically have right now. I can have Survivors in my Killer games who are extremely good in one game and then in the next game I have Survivors who dont know if they play DBD or Minecraft. On Survivor as well, I get a day full of Killers who play on a Steering Wheel followed by games against some of the Top Leaderboard-players. And it is no wonder that this is happening if there is barely any skill impression needed for the MMR-gain and -loss, when it only factors in Kills and Escapes.

I worry that BHVR is either using compromised stats like these to make balance decisions or just ignoring any game with an abandon or DC and cherry-picking ad absurdum.
