Hot take on the new graphical update planned
II See a lot of forum posts about the new graphic update being "the end" because old hardware may not run it. This happens with all games (new pokemon on game being switch 2 for example) and honestly I'm fine with it.
Ps4 is now 13 years old
Switch 1 is now 9 years old
X box series s/x is 6 years old
These consoles are old. Ps4 and switch are so obsolete in terms of hardware specs which is why majority of games for those consoles are now being made solely for the newer gen consoles switch 2 and ps5.
Removing support for these old consoles although bad for those who don't own the newer gen consoles means they don't have to limit what they add to the game because of old and outdated hardware.

I'm not much of an expert, but wouldn't it be expectable that it still run similarly to how it is now on lowest performance settings?

It all depends. If it's a complete rebuild similar to how Ark survival did then it won't be possible to just have lower settings. It'll it's just a graphics update without a rebuild then in theory they could have options for lower graphics

Not everyone can afford the ridiculously priced new consoles.
Plus, I find it ironic that fog and tall grass had to go because of preformance issues, but giving Kate a smoother face is a priority over people with old hardware.

I mean, you can be cynical and think that fog and tall grass does not generate them money, but pretty faces do.
@Topic:
I am twisted on this. On the one hand, it is true that hardware will get outdated and at some point it will not be sufficient enough anymore. This is just a hard truth, you cannot have a PC or a Console and expect games to be playable forever or that you will never have a new console. However, there are still games being released for the PS4 (which is the oldest console in your list) up to this day.
If BHVR does not say anything, I would assume that they still plan to support older consoles. If they plan to abandon the old consoles, they should make an announcement. But if they dont do it, I would assume that the game will still run on older hardware. Ideally they even make a statement to say that if you could run the game today, you will be able to do so with new graphics. (I have seen games do this in the past, e.g. the Devs of The Binding of Isaac said that people who were able to run the Original will be able to run Rebirth as well.)
However, the bigger problem is optimization IMO. BHVR might plan to support older consoles/hardware, but this does not mean that this will actually be happening. The game is not really optimized, it is more demanding than it should be with a game of these graphics. And I fear that the game will look more pretty, but will not run on the same hardware as other games with the same kind of graphics quality.

Your right they can't however there has to be a point where companies have to say basically unlucky chucky. Look at mobile gaming. Pokemon go is also 10 years old this year and support for that game ends after roughly 5 years for phones. Most people have the latest iphone or android spending upwards of £800 every 2 to 3 years and that is seen as fine. But you ask someone to upgrade their console even every 5 to 7 years and its world war 3.
The hard truth is these older systems hold back the game.

Well i wanted to point out that The RE Remakes are on the Switch 1. They run Just fine with some Control Delay here and there. Other than that im sure the graphics update will do just fine on the Ps4 and Switch 1.
But if they do decide to Discontinue support I won't be surprised and I won't buy another console just to play the game.
That means i would not only Buy a PS 5 or Xbox (if they dont upgrade the game to Switch 2) but also buy the game again. That is dang expensive in the prizes of Gaming nowadays.
This isnt Behaviors fault but thats just my stand point on this situation. Ill just Quit The Game because its not worth it.

Am I crazy? Aren't most of the RE remakes about the same graphics as Dead by Daylight. I doubt they'll discontinue support either way as somewhere around a quarter (rough guess) of their player base likely plays on older devices.

No there alot better than DBDs current graphics. I can show Comparison if you want me too

isnt Resident Evil using a cloud streaming service for their games on Switch to achieve better graphics/performance?

The game holds itself back with it's horrible optimalization and code.
As for the people who buy the newest phone yet don't want to buy a new console, yes. That is hypocrisy. Many people don't do this however.

It Doesn't matter. The system still would of showed results to the Insane Graphics. .
Look at the Differences
The Remakes look exactly like they did on other Consoles. So i believe it could work.
3 -
Im of the belief if your game runs long enough it's should always keep what people bought it on and until the game ends
2 -
So based on that logic how would you feel if behaviour turned around and said "Support for DBD will be ending in a years time". Introducing DBD 2 only on PC and Next Gen consoles?
3 -
The having to buy new hardware is kinda out of behaviours control however if they end support for these old consoles the least they can do is offer a free copy for the console of choice to anyone who owns the outdated versions.

That's basically what overwatch did however if they ended support I would feel betrayed also I know dbd 2 ain't gonna happen it would suck if that did happen though

The "new" consoles aren't really new at this point. They are very expensive now, but they weren't always this expensive. It makes sense that, eventually, a game outgrows old hardware. Sorry 🤷♂️

I get that, but it still sucks that people will likely lose a game they spent to much time on, just because they can't afford a 800$ console
