Why doesn’t the game support survivor communication during trials?
For a team based survivor game, why is there no method like voice chat or a text chat that allows pugs to really communicate during the trial? Predetermined groups can run Discord for voice coms, but I don’t see an option to do this with random teammates. Will this ever be a feature? Often, it’s hard to win as a team when you cannot communicate.

best ltm dbd could do is vc but they’ve said multiple times it’ll never come to the game. Text chat atleast mid game would be cool

The game was originally balanced around the Survivors not having communication. It’s evolved and now you have the live action-HUD to give you most of the information you need. Adding comms to the game would only make it worse with how toxic and whiny the player base is.
If you really want comms, learn how to make friends and play SWF

Yeah we do have discord for people who want to get communication. Even dbd discord has many groups you can team with.

Voice Comms will not turn your incompetent, toxic and/or selfish teammates into cooperative god-juicers.
It would just add a whole new layer of toxicity to the game. And wont even help in most cases due to language barrier, missing hardware, background noises, people just not wanting to use them, etc.
We do have plenty of needed info in the UI. Predefined (contextual) text-pings could help but would probably also just not be used or misused as you cant dictate how others okay. Thats kinda just generallly part of random teammates in online gaming9 -
To make the game artificially easier for killer mains. So when killer mains whine about "hand holding" make sure to remind them of this.

In most cases it would just make the toxicity and entitlement in this game more immediate. BHVR barely has the resources to moderate text comms in postgame chat, so doing that for thousands of hours of live voice and text comms is unfeasible, especially outside of Anglophone-majority areas. Imagine the safeguarding and liability issues on EMEA servers with slurs and death threats in more than 30 different languages.
If you need more information than the game gives you by default as a Survivor (live HUD, Killer info and perks in the menu etc, terror radius), then can I suggest running info perks? There're actually some really good ones other than Windows of Opportunity and Deja Vu, but people never run them for some reason. Failing that, join a Discord server or make your friends play DBD with you.

I genuinely want to know who hurt you that makes this your default response to this kind of question.

Well that's the answer. There is no voice chat to make the game easier for killers. BHVR doesn't want coridinated teams.

Because some people like the sound of their own voice too much (ie they won't shut up)

I personally don't want to chat with randos and they sure as hell wouldn't want to hear me being a sore loser

In one of their streams before release they answered a question about in game comms. They considered adding them but decided not to because people tend to choose a 3rd party comms with friends over in game comms, so to save time/resources they opted not to add it.
In later Q&As the answer has basically been the same with the addition of it probably having more tickets go through support both from people who can't behave in voice chat and those who would file false reports. More tickets for support to go through and they'd need to listen to voice chat to see if rules were actually broken before deciding to take action.
I do think a chat wheel should be added to the game. Have basic/common phrases like need help, going for hook, heal please, etc. Things that you don't get from a HUD.

The lack of in-game comms has nothing to do with this and there’s no reason to make this an “us vs them” issue when it’s not.

BHVR have explicitly said that they encourage in-game communication with 3rd party apps. You’re jus using this as an excuse to needlessly stir up “us vs them” divisiveness

It's not an us vs them. BHVR goes outta their way to keep solo que nerfed. Trust me, I play killer. But tbh you don't even have to play killer to notice how BHVR neglects solo q. The only logical conclusion is that it's a balance choice.

The HUD gives you info. So do perks. Open VC won't help any more. It would be nothing but yelling, blaming, and insults. Bad players will still be bad, and people would elect themselves leader. No amount of talking will make randoms care about one another either. It's not hard to find people to play with and use Discord, and that way you get to choose who you want to interact with. I also prefer having two different experiences available. I can play with friends or have a more mysterious, quieter solo match. I wouldn't want that to go away.

BHVR can say whatever they want, but their actions speak louder than words. They support 3rd party apps because they know they're helpless to stop people from using them. But if you really want survivors communicating then why not have in-game voice chat? It's a balance choice.

The hud doesn't tell you when you're close to a three gen. Being three gen'd is something that happens in solo q all the time. You also won't be able to maximize your efficeny when it comes to getting rescues. For some reason BHVR decided Kindred should only work for the person running it. There are just lots of little things that swfs can communicate while solo q struggles.

Please no in game voice chat with all the toxic kids.

"people would elect themselves leader"
Everyone has had those folks in solo queue who point and try directing everyone lol imagine how much more unbearable they would be with VC. It's like nah mate, this is solo queue. It's the wild west out here. You want to be a leader, go make a swf lol

I can't even imagine how bad it would be.
I'd permamute on day one. I did my time being called slurs on other games. Never again. And you know people will lash out against the non-talkers. At least now, when I play killer, I can kinda read the internal conflicts with survivors and react accordingly. With VC I wouldn't have any idea why people are acting out. The last thing this game needs is additional layers of toxicity.

Mini Kindred should be basekit or the perk should be buffed but this is also gamesense. If one person is in chase and two are on gens but one's almost done, that one goes for hook when their gen is done. If two people are on low progress gens, one needs to go. Again, the HUD gives info.
I run Deja Vu default, SWF or not. You can also just keep track of who's doing what by moving around the map, or noting which gens have been done. There is a visual for that.
Comms shouldn't be replacing gamesense and awareness.
