We know players encountered different issues when playing the Black Banquet Event, and we wouldn't want you to leave the feast still hungry. We'll be providing 5M Bloodpoints to all players, redeemable in your in-game inbox. Thank you for your patience as we worked on these issues, and we hope to see you in The Fog!
The fixed amount of cakes per bloodweb went from 14 to...
20!
WOW! That's SO MUCH better!
Thank you guys!
To anyone wondering… yes, I'm being ironic.
6 more cakes and being able to bulk spend without losing cakes is still NOTHING.
5M BP for 100 cakes?! Pretty good job so far indeed.
EDIT: Did more tests here myself.
Bulk spending will still make you lose 1 to 4 of the supposed 20 cakes per prestigie.
And their placement is still scripted/rigged. Here are the new nodes:
3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 28, 30, 33, 35, 38, 40, 42, 45, 47, 49*, 50
49 has an "*" on it because it SOMETIMES spawn a cake.
Usually the stupid box comes in it's place and it NEVER gives a cake.

Its fine you guys are being greedy. Got about 60 on two prestige levels so I am fine with that.
-32 -
It's not about being greedy, it's about the SIGNIFICANT reduction from previous years that is the main issue.
28 -
You are a new player/never played an Anniversary Evt before, right?
We used to get more than 40 per prestigie before year 9.19 -
EXACTLY!
12 -
Yeah sure I am new if that makes you feel better.
edit if you don't get it I am being sarcastic I have been in all anniversaries of this game.
-20 -
So why are you allowing such a significant nerf to be a nonissue to you? In year 8 I put around three prestiges into Vecna and I've been living off of the 200+ Cobblers I got from those three prestiges alone. Now? I'd have to shell out 6-8 prestiges to even HOPE I'd crack 200+ Tortes.
10 -
Well they have the right to do what they want you guys are not entitled to anything really. On my opinion getting so much as you claim from that ammount sounds extensive anyway. I have better things to worry about than if I get few cakes more in this game.
-19 -
BHVR must love people like you who gladly turn the cheek at godawful choices that actively enrage 99% of the community. I bet you feel special, here's a star for you ⭐
21 -
It always interesting when you say 99% when big chunk of players are casuals who most likely don't know anything about this or don't care. There is always vocal people that yell the loudest but claiming to be 99% of player base is little bit extensive too as its most definetely not true.
-11 -
These BHVR lovers… DAMN!
7 -
I normally give BHVR plenty of slack but this is cruel and wrong. FIX THE CAKES.
6 -
THIS!
4 -
If you think thats not enough youre just overly greedy.
-15 -
the only thing people actually care about are cakes its why people come for it.
7 -
I put 3 prestiges on Vecna back in Year 8 during the Twisted Masquerade and garnered 200ish Cobblers that I am still HAPPILY using. It's not a greed issue, its an incentive issue. Why should I play a character with no BPS or cakes when I could play one of my characters that has a surplus from when BHVR wasn't being… Oh, what's the word… GREEDY.
Get out and touch some grass, you're shilling for the billion dollar company and calling the playerbase that kept this buggy, poorly balanced mess afloat for 10 years GREEDY.
6 -
Maybe it's cause I only play for around two hours a day, but I really haven't had any problems with cakes.
-1 -
I can't believe there are people defending this crap!
DAMN!
It's past time for a 2nd Meteor or 2nd Flood.8 -
Comparison is the thief of joy. Most of us remember how flush prior years events were so although the change that dropped today is good it pales in comparison to how many we got with basically zero effort in prior events. It was such a good feeling to stock up on a couple thousand or more cakes and see who you'll be playing in the coming year. Now, I'll be super lucky if I can get 700 total in the next 3 weeks.
3 -
”greedy” as if we haven’t had 9 years of something, come to expect it, then been given the full unlubricated shaft on the 10th year with zero heads up or reasons given
7 -
@Wezqu is right its really not that big a deal imo. Even if BHVR wants to protect BP economy I don't mind its not like it effects the actual gameplay in any meaningful way. I would much rather have a better anniversary event for both sides than have a few more cakes
Note: I've played the previous 5 anniversary events if you want my credentials for some reason. I have like 350 leftover on Dwight from two years ago its genuinely outrageous.
-12 -
”BP economy” like it literally isn’t just a way to make your time feel more valuable because you gave your loyalty to the devs and decided to play the game a lot during the anniversary. It’s as simple as that. Sure? Reducing the amount of cakes by 500% doesn’t affect everyone’s ability to play the game, technically. Gameplay is unfazed. But for everyone who values their time, they’re going to look at the BP they stockpiled before the anniversary, think “man, I’m not even going to get a fifth of what I used to from this,” consider spending it at the current rate, then probably decide to just get off the game and wait until the anniversary is over just in case BHVR chickens out again and caves to demands.
Alternatively, maybe there’s some people who genuinely don’t care, or didn’t save up a lot to begin with, or somehow like the new event enough to muscle through it despite the bugs and the lopsided balancing. But a lot of longtime players are probably going to have this be the “straw that broke the camel’s back” moment that makes them skip the anniversary event, or even outright take a months long hiatus from the game entirely.
Burnout is real and this is an easy way to do it to your loyal playerbase.
6 -
they can do whatever they like, I agree, but to suddenly decide "nah not as much of the fun offerings to reduce the grind even somewhat especially during the anniversary where people will be running them" is a decision for sure, especially given its both the 10th anniversary AND they pulled out so many stops building it up on socials, a huge live event and a trailer during the Summer Games Fest
5 -
It just feels kinda bad. The cake amount feels scripted. I saw someone do around 5 prestiges, 1 with manual and 4 with auto spend. And every single time it was 27 cakes.
7 -
I was cautiously optimistic BHVR would have returned the cake drop rate to what we saw prior to year 9.
Guess I was wise to lean into the cautious part of that. The fact they made no meaningful increase to the drop rate, kept the rarity to the absurd "Very Rare" level, and did nothing to address the fact that Survivor bloodwebs are more impacted because the cakes compete with the event items, is frankly insulting to players time and dedication to their game.
Is the 5 million BP compensation nice? It would have been if the cake spawn rate had actually been reverted to previous years. But with the spawn rates barely increased, it reads more like a distraction to shut people up.
Overall, this feels pretty tone deaf. Whoever it was in management that made the call to change the anniversary cake spawn rates last year and this year needs to reevaluate how much of a PR blunder this was and either revert the spawn rates or own up to this and explain to the community like we're 5 why the change was made in the first place. Then we can see if the decision was done for overall positive reasons for the games health or not. I'm doubtful.4 -
This cake travesty has me not even playing this dogshit ######### event. The devs as usual are ######### horrible at making players happy.
I sincerely hope they fix this ######### or I actually uninstall.
Cakes should be ######### brown rarity after all the uproar that this has caused.

I took something positive about this cake fiasco.
Be really excited for the game being redone from ground up, but ALWAYS remember that no matter how good the update becomes, how great the new graphics and possibilities are it will still be a ship piloted by BHVR, so we'll never be safe of it colliding with the most ridiculous crap (Titanic - > Iceberg lvl).2 -
I feel like we should be glad to have BHVR and not something like EA
-6 -
I mean. The distance between EA and BHVR, or EA and virtually any other studio these days, is a very fine line now. You give BHVR the amount of income, funding, and publishing power that EA enjoys? You’d watch them become the exact same company in like 4 months flat. Just look at Bungie, they made Halo for crying out loud. They claimed that Activision was the problem, signed on with Sony instead who then gave them more direct control to self-manage. They killed off over half their playerbase with like, two bad minor decisions during seasonal content and one bad DLC (out of the 10 that the game had) and now Sony canned them for good, laid off half of the entire studio, including the execs who mismanaged it. Lot of people blaming Sony, the publisher, just like EA gets blamed. They’re the most money driven so they’re the obvious scapegoat. But what many fail to realize is that the lower level decisions, between the average developer and the publishing executive, create the real power moves. They are the ones that determine what happens and when, on the level that affects players the most. In my opinion, BHVR has proven that they can thrive well enough off of little success, it’s the little wins that keep them going. Power is all-corrupting, as they say. I think BHVR would be best to keep their focus on the little things, keep players engaged and prioritize fun for everyone over raw balancing. Put the enjoyment of well-made events and content rather than rushing deadlines or over-engineering. What’s been going on, stuff like being cheap and stingy with anniversary offerings, is not a good sign for longevity. No amount of cosmetic, engine, or graphical upgrades will compensate for core changes to what makes the game fun.

Yes, but we could also have better than BHVR.
Awesome points dude!
0 -
They hear you.
They don't care.
If they cared, they'd have actually buffed them.
What boggles my mind is people actually defending this.
5 -
They did buff them you just don't agree of the amount.
-7 -
I made a separate post regarding it, but the actual cake numbers per prestige are 27 for killer and 18-27 for survivor.
Survivor gets 18 guaranteed and potentially 9 more from the random boxes.
And that is after the buff and only if you manually spend.2 -
Its just greed. Just because you got too much out of it before you think its fine to get too much again.
-4 -
Really out here thanking BHVR for giving us 5 more cakes per prestige. You are FASCINATING. Is there a corporation out there that you don't enjoy defending?
3 -
I love how you think a made-up progression economy that is strictly for rewarding players who put time and energy in (something I've done for roughly 8.5k hours now since '16) is somehow worth defending the multibillion-dollar corporation over. You're the type of guy who gets a free dessert at a restaurant on your birthday and pitches a fit and demands they send it back. You're the type of guy who sees someone help an old lady across the road, and your reaction is to hate how performative and narcissistic the person helping is.
I think I have at least one more in me, gimme a second…
You're the type of guy who sides with the Developers of a game for the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration (a number that was ONLY reached because people put up with the mess that is DbD) and want LESS content and LESS rewards during a time of CELEBRATION because of… Greed. You think a funny, little shareable offering between Killer and Survivor that encourages a good time, win or lose, is something worth implementing artificial scarcity over. You are the entire circus.
1 -
I am not defending anyone just disagreing with your viewpoint. Last time I checked I have right to my own opinions and right to disagree with yours.
-3 -
They don't respect our time or of those who are just starting out. You cancan't buy bloodpoints unless you stupidly pay to finish the rift early. They don't lose money by us getting extra blood points. If anything they're losing money with this tactic because it's turning people away that could potentially spend money on skins and getting the rift. I know I'm not spending any more money on this game for sure.

Me too.
These boxes NEVER give me any cakes…
THIS!
This game has a ridiculous grinding and last year when FNAF was sure to bring more people to play they've decided to start with this less cakes crap.
Pretty good job so far.0 -
Hooh, the summer heat is getting to y'all, huh?
Take a bird
'Tis a red avadavat, also known as the strawberry finch, a bird from the tropical regions of Asia.
-1 -
Thanks for the bird its nice have another?
-3 -
Naturally!
A ruddy turnstone, without its breeding plumage. A shorebird that appears all over the world, though prefers the northern regions for breeding.

I request to see your least favorite bird.
-1 -
Then I'd be posting an AI-generated image and that goes against all I stand for.
-1 -
Well said. In that case I request a pink bird that isn't a flamingo.
1 -
Hmm…
Well, there's some cockatoos, the roseate spoonbill made famous in certain circles by Dropout, a variety of finches…
But I'll go with this one; the pink robin (Petroica rodinogaster):
Exclusive to Tasmania and a (relatively) small area of mainland Australia. They're a part of Australian 'robins' which are only distantly related to the European robin, and not at all related to the American robin.

(I shall end my birdposting here, I've already derailed this thread enough)

I'm seeing far more than day 1 numbers. Also noticed survivor event items skyrocket.
