Why do I never see people playing The Clown?

I feel like The Clown is one of the most underappreciated killers in the game. The hindered status he can apply in a large radius can be a huge help for winning chases. Not to mention that he can use his ability to check on generators from a distance. His unique perks are all great for interrupting survivors. Bamboozle to counter loops, Pop Goes The Weasel to significantly set back gen progress. Why don't more people play The Clown?

I don't care how effective Clown is, i don't find bottles, gas clouds & a tiny knife to be satisfying to use.

    He bores me.

Oh, and his Mori takes too long in comparison.

Just my reason though, idk about others...

Personally, I just find his lack of map pressure to be a hinderance. Yes, he can win 1 on 1 chases quickly, but his power doesn't slow gens and he's not mobile. I generally do better with Freddy simply because the games take longer. Chases end quicker with Clown but gens go so much faster.

    I don’t find him fun.

    Trapper is fun.

    The Clown is great.

He's just not for most people.

    No map pressure.

More than enough pallets to counter the gas allowing one less loop.

Bottle throw actually slows him down, so it's counter productive at loops.

I prefer Wraith over Clown, what little advantage he has in map pressure makes all the difference.

He's like Nurse to me. Powerful in the right hands, but outright boring to play. Unless I have a daily, I don't play him.

Also, I have legitimate coulrophobia (fear of clowns), so, that might also be a reason no one plays him, since a LOT of people have coulrophobia.

Because he’s the absolute weakest killer in the game

I play him with the Santa costume and spread guts, blood and Christmas joy all over the map ;-)

I find him boring, honestly. Great killer, just not fun.

He is a basic killer with an unimpressive power. It might be effective, but I don't find it it satisfying to use. Not like a good Doctor shockblock or the sweet *Snap!* of a bear trap.

    His power is boring imo

    Yup.

And if that were worth it to ignore all the other things that bore me, i'd play him.

Even though he has no complicated mechanics or a crazy skill cap, he needs to convert his chases more than most other killers, because that's his strongest point. He's more snowball reliant than most killers in the game because of that (think Myers, but with a stronger chase game and a much less scary snowball)

I think he's quite fun tbh. Probably my most played killer after Hag and Huntress.

He's a pretty decent Killer, as he can stop loops and end chase pretty quick due to his bottles. The only downside is he lacks of map presence and the power to slow the game down, if it weren't for that he probably become a Top Tier Killer.

I think the only main reason why no one plays him it's becuz he's "ugly" (Leatherface is ugly too but there are many people play him)...

Clown is strong (godlike with exhaustion addon) but lacks map pressure. I don't blame people, i see haddonfield offerings every day, man this map is literally broken unless you are Spirit or Nurse...

I love the Clown, but folks are definitely correct in saying he has some of the lowest map pressure in the game. He can definitely end one-on-one chases fast if you know what you're doing, but if you end up finding somebody in a bad area you can pound through those bottles faster than a redneck with a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon (and reload time is cancerous). As most mid- to low-tier killers, he's pretty add-on dependent on being somewhat viable against a decent group. Still, that lack of decent map pressure alone (especially these days) often warrants my choosing somebody else at the character selection screen.

Clown is just not as reliable as Hag or Spirit, both very good and fun killers, and doesn't have a fun-to-use power to make me want to use him.

I can’t stand his HAAAAA noise. He’s so unpleasant to hear. Like my ears are being swaddled in sandpaper.

Requirements to be a popular killer.

    Mobility = low

    Gen slow down = low

    Lethality = medium

    Snowball potential = low

    Chase game = high

    Meme potential = medium.

Average killer overall so people pass on playing him over superior more impactful killlers. If im being honest he had a better chance if the guy could actually get around the map faster which is usually the hallmark of a good killer.

I put priority on mobility mostly due to behaviours obssesive desire to make giant maps, making low mobility killers even worse. Consult temple of puragation, ormunds and yamooas Estate for further reference.
