Not sure... feel like it would work fine in a full 5 person group but you have the risk of working with the killer with less.
-1 -
Same one I always have:
- In the pursuit of balance, we sacrificed what made the game enjoyable, just to realize, that creating a balanced experience was never really possible to begin with.
3 -
Skull merchant 1.0 was fine and all she needed was multi floor prevention and no scan progress while crouching or on a gen.
-1 -
Not letting Springtrap disable his axe and go m1 only with certain add-ons was a massive mistake. They could tweak his power to be much more camera focused and enable both play styles much better, but instead to play Afton you need to use the axe no matter what. It's just annoying.

I don't understand why it is relevant for two survivors to exists to have skins that represent different genders. Don't legendary skins solve that issue or am i missing some license restriction? Could you explain?
0 -
There should be about 10 seconds before abandon feature comes available to be used after requirements are met.
-3 -
This!

While I do agree its a thing, it's barely hurting the killer queues rn, they are always a few minutes long for a good reason. I feel its a competitive game thing in general.
-1 -
You actually have plenty of survivor only players who've effectively been permanently chased away from the role because of the stress.
4 -
Tea bagging isn't a big deal, and DBD is the only game I've seen where the player base have actual mental breakdowns over it. If you can't handle tea bagging, you can't handle pvp games.
-2 -
Asymmetrical game can't be fully balanced no matter how hard they try, one side will always tip over as a stronger one, all you can do is switch which one takes the turn to be more powerful
0 -
Literally this, it's not exclusive to one role or game I feel.
-3 -
I mean you have people who are survivor only NOW because they got stressed out from playing killer. Only looking at the people we have left and saying "theyre doing fine" ironically is called survivorship bias.
THIS kind, lol
-3 -
You generally dont have groups of ppl team up against 1 guy in those other games though. Im sure there would be more breakdowns in COD lobbies if all negative interactions were directed to a single player.
-3 -
This is one of those topics I'd love to dig into a little. If Killer anxiety is something you feel, is there anything specific that tends to trigger this for you?
1 -
I mean I know people who won't play DBD period coz it's stressful, making it all about one side is hardly fair, there needs to be a more forgiving experience for both sides. I've been advocating for this for ages.
Survivors need a way to fight back against extreme slugging like 2v8 anti slug, tunneling on the high tiers is also harsh.
Killers need fresh hook incentives or something to help them bounce back from losing a lot of pressure, something to ease the blow of a really bad chase.
People like Spookyloopz while they are right people are using the opinion to us vs them, it's a DBD issue, not a killer issue, just look at all the people coming back exclusively for 2v8 survivor side.2 -
I was just bringing up THAT aspect because you have ppl who haven't given up the game entirely, just 1 role.
0 -
It's just a crouching animation, and it's not that serious. Again, if you can't handle a crouching animation to the point where you start shaking and have a mental breakdown, you don't need to be playing pvp games in general for your own well being.
1 -
Thats fair, I couldn't see the image it wouldn't load for me, deffo not saying it doesn't happen.
I just hope they realise it's just a DBD problem in general <3 it's a tough game to learn!!!0 -
Kills and escapes are a valid measure of skill. Players too often get caught up in the outcome of a handful of matches and use that as an argument for hook counts, chase time, etc.
Your skill isn't measure based on a few games. Over the course of hundreds/thousands of trials, will a relatively higher skilled player have more kills and escapes vs a common set of opponents? Of course. And it's disingenuous to argue otherwise.
Players are conflating how they want DbD to be played with how skill is measured.
Survivor skill is a bit harder to quantify. Teammate performance absolutely impacts your escape rate. And I would argue survivor gameplay is just as complicated as killer gameplay, even if the skillset can be a bit different. Chase skill is just one aspect. Game sense and decision-making are arguably more important.
2 -
Survivor gameplay is hard coz you have to learn the 30+ different matchups in the game + their interactions with perks and maps.
That's the same with Killer regarding the different perk combos too.
DBD is a really hard game to learn!2 -
I experience this. It's different for everyone but I'll try and touch on my own experience as well as what I've seen from others. I think a lot of the anxiety is actually prior to the match. It's fear of the unknown. Because MMR is not reliable and backfills are a thing, you've really no idea what kind of team you're going to match into.
This is an issue for both roles, sure, but as survivor you might have 3 teammates that are really good and help you if you're below the lobby skill average, or you could have pants teammates which lets you mentally offload the frustration of a loss by self-assuring that it's not your fault.
As killer, you have no backup, and the wild variety in survivor skill you may face match to match, and that will completely dictate your experience. Obvious high-hour duos/four stacks get dodged in the lobby, meaning my poor 400hr self might be served up sacrificial lamb style to 4 comp players with 10k a piece. I don't know that will happen, and that's the problem, because people that are anxious in general will catastrophise the unknown. As for in-game stresses, some of it is just a result of a PvP game, and the rest would take an entire thread to properly discuss. I'm a bit unsure on the rules about naming specific people, but a content creator with a decent following made a video on this recently which is likely why the anxiety phenomenon is on your radar. He makes some good points. (EDIT: That content creator was literally named in the post you were replying too ._.)

My hot take: When a killer’s design, add-ons, are clearly either outdated, messy or a buggy mess. (Sadako, Houndmaster, Trapper, Hag, Pinhead etc.), it shouldn’t take years for them to get real attention. Specific addons shouldn’t feel “Mandatory” to use on a killer in order to fill in the gaps.
The game is so much healthier when the whole roster feels modern and fun to play as and against, and right now too many killers are stuck waiting. I’d love to see regular, focused killer passes become a core part of DBD’s schedule instead of a rare event, so struggling killers actually get brought up to standard instead of just left behind.
This is why regular midchapters are super important. Not just content releases.

Except its not just a crouching animation. You have ppl trying every avenue they can to harass you. You even have teams set up with no goal to actually win, but rather to target 1 player specifically and make them as miserable as possible. It doesnt surprise me that people dont wanna be the designated target. In other PVP games you at least get to know it might be someone ELSES turn to be on the receiving end. In this game, its just seen as something you have to deal with to be spammed hate messages and have your steam profile covered in -rep messages.
-2 -
I think for a lot of people, it's the fact that even if we have a horrible game that we know we have 0 chance of winning - we're still forced to suffer through it until the survivors open the gates and leave
The survivor role if they have a bad game e.g they all get downed at once, can just abandon and be done with it. Killers have to either sit around and wait for the timer or push the survivors out themselves. I don't have a problem with either but for a lot of people just the notion that they might have to do either of those things can be a bit anxiety inducing
Some kind of Killer abandon condition would do wonders. Either when gates are powered and the Killer has no hooks, or when the endgame collapse starts and all 4 survivors are still alive. Something like that
0 -
Except that I am specifically talking about crouching. You're making it about other forms of harassment, which yes, are bad and should not be tolerated. Tea Bagging isn't that deep.
And yes, you can revenge bm the target too in this game, I'm not sure why you're stating you can't.
You can also prevent strangers from commenting on your steam profile, and sending you messages on console. That's usually the first thing I do when getting a new system.-1 -
Im stating unlike other games, you go into every game knowing that 95% of every negative interaction will be directed to you as opposed to other players. You see people saying they cant handle the stress and you think it was the TBAGGING? That was just the cherry on top of a mountain.
0 -
For me it probably is one side if your last downed you dont even need to watch the mori (funny mechanic to be avoided by abandon btw) by immedately abandoning or if everyone's downed the same. Because survivors should be afforded to go to the next match. But killer if you lost you have to open the gate. Find survivors around the map probably stalling out the time just to waste your time. And usher them out.
0 -
Do you not see the countless forum threads and reddit posts and such specifically complaining about the tea bagging? If it's just the tea bagging, it's nothing to get upset over. If you're afraid of getting messages from random players that want to harrass you, turn off public messages and set it to friends only. That alleviates so much stress, and you never have to worry about the random angry comment outside of the game.

Yeah I agree with this hardcore, it would help my enjoyment immensely if killers were all brought up to the standard of popular killers to face like Wesker etc.
So many fun killers I wish I could face against more.2 -
Most of the anti tunnel features should have been implemented in a slightly weaker state and the fact that so many killers had an issue with it showed how most killers are artificially boosting their mmr by tunneling.
3 -
How many other games do you play where you'd be giving this advice? "Yeah, I know this is just fall guys, but you should probably set your stuff to private, turn off messages and change your address cuz the whole lobby is gonna try to make you miserable no matter which way the match goes".
Do you think all the super sensitive people just collectively came to the same game rather than think that maybe this game is much more stressful to 1 single player than other PVP games?
-2 -
I literally just said I turn off all of my messages for any new system I get. I turned it off for my Xbox when I was playing Overwatch, and I turned it off immediately when I started using steam. I know how awful people get when playing PVP games, and I'd rather not deal with that. So yeah, it is that simple. I don't know why you're disagreeing and fighting me on that fact.
I'm just saying that I've never seen a pvp game to where so many people have such a strong response to something that's been in the gaming sphere since the conception of PVP.
You've done nothing bot make excessive assumptions and argue from those assumptions. I agree that sending harrassing messages and making toxic comments is bad, but if it's simply tbagging and nothing more, it's nothing to get upset over. If you're feeling too tilted, then just take a break. It's okay to do so, and it happens to the best of us.0 -
As someone whos played multiple cods, overwatch, league, halo, (mostly speaking of older games) i dont think ive seen people take it to the extent they do in this game. We have had doxxing. Ip address hunting, faking accusations of serious topics using the persons name. Impersonating. Sniping to hold someone hostage for hours at a time. Some streamers have had to go into great extent to protect themselves. Thats how bad this game can get.
2 -
And that's all bad, and should never happen, especially over a video game.
But all I'm saying is that Tbagging alone is nothing to lose your mind over, and all I get is "Yeah, but I get this type of harassment and mean comments!" as if that has anything to do with my initial statement.
Tbagging alone = Not a big deal
Every other form of harassment = Not okay
That's it. Simple as.1 -
Abandon would be a bandaid fix, we need some actual comeback mechanics or anti-snowball prevention without the need of perks, the underlying issue would still exist much like it currently does for survivor with the extreme slugging.
We already have measures to stop extreme stealth on killer side with an abandon and the crows system.as it stands rn killer leaves, the match is over, survivors leave, they leave a bot behind. I can't help but wonder if its to do with how the game does its networking why we can't have killer bots.
Coz I'm sure if both killers dc in 2v8 it ends the match also?0 -
How many asymmetrical pvp games do you have on that list? Comparing a typical pvp to THIS is like comparing a mallet to an ice pick. Your gonna see cracks much sooner when all the pressure is applied to single point. Maybe instead of telling the guy getting stoned that he should wear a helmet when he leaves the house, you could argue against tossing the stones... even if its the smallest stone there is (teabagging is that small stone incase it wasn't obvious in the metaphor).
-3 -
Refined a DBD content creator gone over this a lot lately and recently posted his own thoughts about it on YouTube. Was part of the DBD consultant team (forgot exactly what it's called) but i guess a dev somewhere can't take criticism and kicked him off.
For me though.
- Everything and all the pressure is on you.
- Survivors been given too many basekit buffs to help them out while killers haven't really gotten anything.
- 》Survivors get help with gen lock down, tunneling and slugging, but does the killer get any help when the survivors slam gens? Nothing.
- After getting your first down and hook if 2 or 3 gens pop it could feel like the game is doomed right there feeling significantly more pressure.
- Killers aren't really feared anymore so some players dedicate their time to bully the killer.
- End game chat survivors can be toxic as hell towards the killer for just playing their role. The auto censorship is the laziest option and easiest thing to bypass when they wanna tell you go end your life in since way and I've seen nothing being done about it.
‐‐-------------------------------------------------
Threads topic.
- Skull Merchant 2.0 was completely fine with the base game changes that also happened she never should've been gutted.
- Survivors should not be allowed to instantly abandon the match when killers are force to stay because survivors want to waste as much time as possible tea bagging at the gates.
- 》 10-20 grace period before they get it so killer can hook them before they get the option to abandon. If the killer hooks someone the timer resets. If some one gets on their feet AND walks just a few meters the game resumes as normal so killer can't be scummy and bypass it if they try to pick up and drop then back on their feet.
- Old ranking system was best if you wanted to rank up you have to play out the game and fill the BP categories. If you rush the objectives or the match was too one sided you only risked going down in rank.
- Edit: 15 seconds of free endurance and haste after getting unhooked during the match is fine but during the end game its almost a free escape and unless you're playing Bubba there's almost nothing the killer can do to stop them. Would cut it down to 6-8 seconds to give the killer some chance and more risk to the survivors.

Tbagging is always going to be prevalent in PVP games, so your metaphor doesn't really work. It's just something you're going to have to learn to deal with, and I know that sounds cold and cliche, but it's the truth. Otherwise, you're just not going to be able to have a good time. I get it, it's tilting and frustrating, but like I said before, it's okay to take a break and come back in a better mind state.

Its because castlevania has a lot more characters than silent hill. They wouldnt make 10 legendaries for just trevor. And instead they decided to skip all the legendaries and chop them up into cosplays, skipping allll the female characters from the series from ever being in the game as anything but cosplays. Having a female base survivor would have made it easier for them to not overinflate 1 character to have tons of legendaries, perhaps they didn't want to go the same route as they did with cheryl.
2 examples are resident evil and the walking dead
2 -
Tbagging is the most inconsequential part of this whole conversation. I cannot stress enough, the biggest part is that all the pressure is applied to a single person. That is the difference between this and every other game. Even a normally small amount of pressure will cause cracks if you aim it at a single point. Please...stop hyperfixing on specifically t bagging as if im trying to argue that is the cause of all evil.
-2 -
I wouldn't be opposed to trying it. Only issue I can think of as a F13 refugee is that this is how you get teamers and people quitting if they don't get killer. it's harder to call out here because you can be in an Xbox party and rat out your team
0 -
I remember seeing another game trying it where everyone would spawn in as a survivor and wouldn't have a clue who would turn into the monster once the timer hits 0 to start the game kinda like Among us in that sense.
0 -
Anecdotal but I know far more people that have given up on survivor than those that have given up on killer. When killer queues get long I see plenty of TTVs refusing to use Play While You Wait and never playing survivor. I personally don't play much survivor anymore because of how hard you need to sweat to even stand a chance of escaping (unless you face a killer that is clearly newer). I'm not trying to downplay stress on the killer side btw, I completely agree that it is the more stressful role but the people I actually see giving up one side are giving up survivor not killer.
3 -
I saw doja cat ragequit after being killed during the tutorial bot game and my first reaction was "Welp... at least THAT one cant be blamed on the community". I know people can be stressed out while playing either role, I just wish the player toxicity wasn't essentially approved. If I hop on warframe right now and start spamming harassment on chat, im at MINIMUM getting blocked from chat. If that happens in DBD, the general response from ppl is "Have you tried not looking?" People wouldn't be writing the stuff they do if there was consequences. Reporting for ingame goes nowhere if your on PC, meanwhile if ppl blow up my PS chat with vulgarity instead... there's not even a report button. Are we just at the point where if you lay down consequences for obvious abuse, too many players would get bans?
2 -
SWF should not be in this game, or should be it's own special mode. The game is impossible to balance when SWF allows for communication, and no one is happy. You buff solo to a 50% escape rate, and SWF is unstoppable. You nerf SWF and it's almost impossible for solos to win. Killer bounces between wrecking survivors and getting wrecked.
-5 -
Tbagging is the ENTIRE point of the conversation. You just added more parts to it for no other reason.
All I said was Tbagging ALONE is not an issue. Then you came in with all these other problems, putting words into my mouth and making excessive assumptions and kept arguing from that. I never said harrassment via sending messages, doxxic, etc is okay. All I said was Tbagging isn't a problem, and you went off on this tangent as if I said all forms of toxicity is okay.Post edited by BigKingWoof on1 -
My take is that the game is balanced based on Gen slow down perks, and therefore they should get rid of Gen slow down perks and adjust Gen speeds based on the strength of the killer and map size. Same with pallets. They should be adjusted based on killer strength and map size.
Nerf exhaustion perks as a trade off.
There are games where I'm having 20-30 second chases, but since I'm not running Gen slow down perks, I still have to tunnel/slug to win. It's actually pretty wild.
On the flip side, when I play survivor, the killers that run multiple Gen slow down perks do fairly well. They don't win every game, but they definitely fair better than the ones that don't.
I'd actually love to see a long-term no perk mode/item/add-on mode in the game to see who the actual good players are.
Also, way too much aura reading for both sides.

You said people were having mental breaks over teabagging, I said no... thats just a very small part of the stress. Its disingenuous to try to wrap up everything as just people that cant handle tbagging.
