Please don't touch Cross Examination!

I only just found out they're planning to destroy it, you do realize I spent auric cells on Shane to get this perk, right? What is the huge problem with it that made you decide to just gut it? First off, it's only really effective on indoor maps (but still not a problem with a stereo headset on killers), which don't come up that often. Secondly, many stealth killers are already broken on those maps anyway, plus, killers use stealth addons and perks which benefits some killers with no footstep sounds, so why can't survivors do the same? Stop listening to all those doomposting killer mains on twitter and youtube content makers and rely on stats! And honestly, I don't even see this perk showing up that often in my public matches.
My suggestion is to just add a 5–10 second cooldown (not more it's a popular perk more like a niche) after activating elusive is it really that hard to code that instead of a massive nerf?

Go ahead and vote it down lmao, it’s a perk hardly anyone even uses right now, and people will stop using it entirely after the nerf because this community never wants anything new and just wants to stick to the same old meta. Basically, I’m going to regret buying this survivor, all his perks are just total crap now only this one was at least fun to use

Elusive is a very strong mechanic. And the way this perk works makes it far too easy to shake a killer in chase even while injured. It's not just indoor maps, there's a lot of highwall loops that crossexamination would allow the survivor to break LoS and just clear out away from killer with no meaningful counterplay.

Incidentally, I'm not a killer main. I play both roles equally and try to keep objective when it comes to balance. Even when i play survivor i can see this perk is so easy to break.

The perk in its current state isnt used as much as youd think since I bet most people dont even know it hasnt been nerfed yet. Permanent Elusive is a very strong effect to have for 0 effort and pretty much out classes every other chase-stealth perk in the game (ESPECIALLY Lucky Break)

Also dont buy a character just because they have something thats strong. This is a live service game. You are aware of this, dont act surprised when something gets changed, its bound to happen.

The best way to change cross-examination is making it last for 60s off hook, and its disabled until you get hooked again.

Because the only role allowed to Power Creep is Killer.

If Survivors actually get a new usable perk it won't be long before it's gutted.

I think the Perk is useful but you hardly see it being used.

It's funny that the Killers in this game are more stealthy than the Survivors, LMAO!

Elusive is toxic to game health in the same way that Killer Instinct is. If one needs to get nerfed out so does the other. And they both need to get kicked down more than a few pegs. Alternatively, keep both. Killer instinct is going to be a vital balance mechanic if Elusive sticks around with this level of availability.

Even pre-nerf it's still not that good. You are either behind the killer (they can't see you anyway) or you are close enough where they can track you visually. I wanted it to be goated but Parental Guidance, Lucky Break, Lucky Star are much easier to use and you make more distance from the killer. Also any Undetectable prevents Cross Examination from working too. When they implement the nerf it will be next to useless. Shame!

Exactly they all abuse stealth addons and perks like Unforeseen and Secret Object which can also easy to activate, yet the moment survivors get something similar, it gets gutted for no reason when it's not even that popular, people will not use niche perks if they are not affecting chases, same on killers and devs just don't get it, nobody gonna use niche heal and gen perks they are boring and unfun to use

The fact that this perk specifically requires a terror radius or an active chase is already a downside, yet for killer mains and content makers, that’s not enough they want every perk to be a carbon copy, devoid of original design, and for them to never work during a chase…

If you wanna use the "they can just track you visually" argument then you can apply that to literally any perk that provides stealth, including the ones you listed. The whole point of these perks is to break chase and Cross is literally every single one of these perks but on crack. Why use Lucky Break + Iron Will when Cross Exam literally does that with no timer or cooldown AND it hides your aura. Same thing for Parental Guidance, do one quick loop around a structure, step in a whole bunch of pillars and now you have a longer lasting effect on top of hiding your aura.

It not working while the killer is Undetectable barely matters since even most stealth killers dont have permanent Undetectable mid chase other than maybe Ghost Face if he's already marked you.

I don't know why you would be new survivors with real money unless you like the character.

New survivor perks will always be gutted and/or niche for the time being, they don't want another MFT happening anytime soon.

You just learn to accept it lol.

I thought it was already dead. Its getting nerfed again??

In practice it just does not work as well as you describe. But it doesn't matter now anyway. Enjoy your scratch mark gameplay!

They changed the perk description but the actual change appears not to have been implemented yet.

this is just not true because Killer Instinct is meant to normalize certain behaviours for killers to make them act like how they should like obviously Demogorgons should see anybody near the Upside Down.

It can be fair to say we've been making it more common.

I like Cross examination, I think it's a pretty neat perk and after using it a lot you can get away with some pretty silly ######### with it. The perk's issue is that Elusive is a very powerful effect and getting it for simply walking over the killer's trail isn't exactly proportional, especially that other perks that do give elusive are highly conditional to getting that effect too. I don't agree with the nerf on it either by disabling it during chase however it's current form isn't exactly healthy design wise either. Outside of giving it a rework I don't know what you'd do with it really, I like the concept of the perk but I just don't like how easy it's to use for such a strong effect.

As I said, if you advocate for keeping Killer Instinct then I'm fine with advocating for the keeping of elusive. I see little about Killer instinct that couldn't easily be replaced with aura, but along the lines of kit creation someone said 'crap what if they are running an aura block? We need something like aura that breaks past aura blocking in order to make the kit work properly.'

Just get rid of aura blocking then, and get rid of KI. Simplifies things rather dramatically doesn't it? Or keep them both.

People are saying it's not being used much but I've seen it quite a bit in my killer matches. Despite all the hype, I've found it incredibly mid, maybe even poor.

It's extremely situational. If the killer has LoS it's useless. When someone uses it against me, even in indoor maps or tight spaces, nine times of ten I can guess their trajectory, and the scratch marks start again so quickly that I'm back on them without much pause, if any. It's also dangerous. People go out of their way to step on the marks and activate it, which often ends up putting them in a worse position than if they'd pathed better instead. And once I realize they have it, they become predictable.

I personally prefer Lucky Break. I get a speed boost when hit and disappear. It also doubles as anti-tunnel.

Yeah, they're nerfing the perk next week, it's going to be absolute crap

  • DNet89
    DNet89 Member Posts: 306

I think they should rework it into an anti tunnel perk.

After being unhooked, this perk is activated for 60 seconds. You leave light marks that lasts for 10 seconds and only you see. If the killer steps on them they gain a -5% hinder that also lingers for 5 seconds.

    Oputeev_Stas Member Posts: 161

I already run DS I don't need second one lol, they should just add a cooldown for like a 5-10s and thats it

  • Oputeev_Stas
    Oputeev_Stas Member Posts: 161

That actually happened to me twice, the killer realized I had that perk and decided to backtrack along his path to catch me. After all, if the killer has a brain, the perk isn't all that powerful though it is still fun to use😋

Im like 90% sure the player base doesnt have object permanence. Or they are tunneling visioning so hard they dont bother to do other tracking methods.

I was mid chase and I just stopped running. It was at one of those pallets thats between like a rock and a long tree log thing on Mothers Dwelling. I just stopped running turn the corner and killer lost me despite being rather close to me.

So yeah no I dont think cross exam is as strong as people make it out to be. 90% of the players in this game are just auto piloting.

  • Oputeev_Stas
    Oputeev_Stas Member Posts: 161

Exactly they’re just used to playing by looking at the scratch marks, it feels like they only focus on those and don't look at the center of the screen basically, they don't want to strain their eyes. Also, you need good headset when playing as the killer so its kinda counters stealth perks too

Some of us are hearing impaired, but I'm sure that's less important than the money you spent on a busted perk.

"Very busted" that people barely even uses it, and why should I be responsible for your health issues? Makes no sense whatsoever
