They brought back Lights Out. My favorite game mode more so than 2v8 even. Playing as Xenomorph that mode you're almost a stealth killer and survivors get the flame turrets as some kind of warning.
Did they at least disabled Myers and Ghost Face cause those 2 ignored the rules of Lights Out?

Lights Out is the real horror aspect of DBD, Not knowing. Survivors don't like not knowing. So they hate Lights Out.

i like lights out and they broke it
-3 -
yep some killers especially 1 shot are very broken there and should be disabled or they should emit some sort of lullaby or removed insta down ability

Off work and found the info myself August 4 - 11th.
So Windows of Opportunity is free while holding the lanterns and a few other minor changes.
Meyers and Ghost Face NEEDS to be disabled for Lights Out mode those 2 killers kill the purpose of the game mode completely bypassing the modifiers with their stalking basically giving them sight hacks. Playing against those 2 always been so terrible.
Doctor and Legion may as well also be disabled not cause they're insanely strong but their power doesn't even work having no terror radius.
Not sure on the rest of the killer roster if any should be kept out.

yep fully agree, we were keep saying about it a long time ago and I doubt they listened about those problematic killers, 1 shot killers are also a problem like bubba and hillbilly

Just don’t play it you don’t like it. If nobody plays it, then they won’t bring it back again. Apparently there is enough demand for BHVR to give it another try.

I played only Xeno with the blighted skin as a public service even if somehow some people didn't appreciate it.
The turrets are so immersive!

Why can't they give us Prop Hunt? or My Little Oni? Or something new? It's always the same stuff.

This is main issue with lights out from surviour prespetive.
you just verse same killers that get huge advantage from the mode while survivors get to play in the dark..
I worry about Jason in this mode with his red mist and KI out of OE.6 -
I think bringing back Lights Out is fair, since they are doing a lot of changes with it. I dont really like the mode and will only play as much as needed, but it is good that they are still working on it.
They said not too long ago that there will be new modifiers. I dont think that My Little Oni will make a comeback, but I expect new stuff.

That's why the lanterns now give survivors pallet and window auras, so they have a point of reference like killers do (gen auras) and it won't be so disorientating. I'm looking forward to playing Pig and getting some sneaky gen grabs, but I imagine there will be plenty of Legion, Doctor, and Bubba like last time. I do think there will be an increase in players on the first day, then a sharp decline like last time. This mode has never been popular and I'm kind of surprised they're bringing it back.

As if 2v8 does the game any good. It just switches out the playerbase with megheads for three weeks.
I like that they keep the gamemodes diverse. But yeah i wouldve preferred my little oni again.

We've only gotten Lights Out twice since modifier games was introduced. 2v8 is all i ever see.

I think we all know why Lights Out was basically left to rot. It flopped. No one liked it. There was nothing to it but "Oh. It's Dark. Wow".

Because every single power in this game (other than those with stealth) were created without basekit stealth in mind. Not much fun to be had when a killer is able to down you out of nowhere with 0 time to react

my headcanon is that solo q tolerates it because if you want to play for hatch, a lot of killers can't stop you. If you pretend you die IRL if you die in dbd, lights out could be considered fun.

It's a mode that came about because players said the game wasn't scary anymore and where's the horror. In reality players want to win, not be scared, so it's hated.
Players that play the mode with the mentality of normal matches miss the point. It's supposed to be like facing a movie serial killer.
-3 -
that doesn't necessarily track imo; a lot of players are boosted by crutches and Lights Out takes all that away. I can handle fighting naked, whereas many people can't. lots of killers need their aura perks and Slowdowns. Nurses have to use their eyeballs so they just don't play Nurse.

Any time that brings some other mode then stale 4v1 mode or broken event mode like last black banquete was or bloodmoon event is welcomed.
I like all they all bring something different then stale mode lightsout is more horror like and some meta killers arent possible there like nurse or blight, chaos is relaxing time from all run stale meta and 2v8 is more casual friendly and super fun.

Everyone knows Nurse uses echolocation.

"In reality players want to win"
Well yes, we see this in every discussion around game balance. Anytime someone mentions just playing for fun and not worrying about winning or losing, a bunch of people will tell you to stfu and they're here to win (ask me how I know lol). Not sure if you tried survivor in the first round of LO, but I can assure you the issue was less to do with losing/winning and more to do with the frustration of running into walls and corners because you were disorientated.

I've played it everytime it came up. Never had the issue of being disorientated or running into walls, so I cannot relate.

Which may be fun for a game or 2, but anything reliant on jumpscares for horror gets very old very quickly.

It does, that's why DBD isn't scary after playing for some time. Another reason why these modes are limited events.

i hate 2v8 its boring on survivor and a slog on killer
