I don't think it's gonna get better.
After 10 years, the game looked to get better, but it's gotten more competitive and frustrating than actually fun for the rest of the players. This reflects in the absurd queue time imbalance and complains about the same stuff over and over. Yes, there are some quality of life changes like the upcoming survivor text wheel, but I really dont think bhvr intends to fix this game's frustrations. The way it seems, we will continue with this horrible matchmaking and toxic meta for another 10 years, if the game lasts that long. It's bizarre that I have lower queue times on texas chainsaw massacre.

well theres a few reasons why that are both in and out of BHVR's controls.
Lets start w/ the stuff they could *theoretically fix.
- Toxicity in end game chat - insults, cleverly misspelled slurs, telling someone to delete themselves, over the top trash talking, etc - all of those could be effectively capped if BHVR took a far more aggressive approach to handling ppl who say stuff like that.
- Cheating (to some degree) - with the new game engine coming out soon - in game code there needs to be methods that are server-side that prevent X player from attacking too fast, moving too fast, teleporting, etc. If the server side detects Y anomaly - it should kick the suspected player and let the moderator team look at a recording of that specific match. (The match would ONLY be recorded if the software detected sus activity)
- Balancing perks - there will ALWAYS be a certain few perks that will always be used more often simply because they provide a substantial value - regardless if it gets buffed or nerfed (IE Pain res, dead hard) - but most of the perks in game need hella strong buffs/reworks to compete to break the meta.
- Balancing maps - lets be honest… a lot of times the match is favored to one side or the other simply b/c of the map. Maps like Midwich are great for survivors generally, but maps like the walking dead map are generally bad for survivors.
Stuff that is somewhat outside of BHVR's controls:
1 whether or not players are toxic in-game or do toxic things - (IE genrushing, bully squads, slugging, tunnelling, etc).
2. Que times (to some degree) - if at the end of the day more players want to play X role vs Y role, then X players will have longer que times -there is no way around it.

I mean who cares about dying as survivor if the game entertains you enough. But going against 10 Blights in a row with Corrupt, pain res, eruption and pop, targeting low skilled survivors isn't fun. But killer players don't care, they rush their win streaks when mmr is out of control. I don't understand how duo of new players with 0.2hrs total end up against p100 Ghoul with exact same build I mentioned, If you think the game was over in very few minutes, you are right.

We may really need a quick play feature, chaos shuffle like, random loadout, but also random killer, plus you don't get to select killer. You press Quick Play and you either get a survivor role, or the killer role. Subsequent survivor games increase chance for being killer, after 4 times you have almost a guaranteed chance.
As it's just one way of playing, you most likely only have the people who don't care wether they play survivor or killer, Killer mains would just wait 15 minutes for their killer match, while in quick match you just have a 1/5 chance of getting killer, but there isn't a wait time attached to it because it fills lobbies by players, not by role. And we know more people look for killer than survivor, hence the long wait times3 -
BHVR has no intention of making the game better. Its enough for them to maintain their circle of new stuff and weird ideas on "balancing". It cant get better if the devs refuse to acknowledge the seriousness of core gameplay issues.

I have been playing DbD since 2018 and I remember how much I enjoyed the game back then despite, or perhaps because of, it being more broken and chaotic. Back then and into 2021 I could play DbD for hours on end and have tons of fun on both sides.
Then 6.1.0 happened which was followed up promptly by SBMM and I just didn't enjoy the game as much anymore. I have kept up with the Rift grind and keep stacking cakes every anniversary waiting for BHVR to add fun back to DbD or for a worthy competitor to arise. Years of watching BHVR do the bare minimum or less when they can get away with it and still no competitor has stepped up to bring improvement to the asym genre. Years of slop.
But at least if I don't want to play DbD I can always come to the DbD forums and read and maybe post about DbD in a decently structured format. Oh wait…

Also I would like to talk about Windows Of Opportunity/Five Moves Ahead nerf and how it doesn't solve the problem killer players have. Common opinion is that WOO is mainly to help newbies locate their resources, but it's not true.
Beginners - they need to buy Kate to access this perk meaning score of BP must be achieved at first. Once they earn it they can see yellow auras but they have no idea how to utilize loops other than drop the pallet in which case against any decent killer they will die anyway.
Solo Q - Use this perk to locate used resources, pinpoint chases and utilize those informations to avoid deadzones, which can easily lead from survivor victory to survivor loss. Imagine running into deadzone against Bubba, who will then throw you into basement because you had no pallet to use. Also RNG of the map is different and while you can pinpoint where some fillers spawn, there are very weird tiles like long Z wall that is hard to identify unless you are straight at it. Not even saying that maps like Toba Landing and similiar maps are very colourfull and pallets fade within it.
Experienced SWF - has no reason to run anything other than Five Moves Ahead.
Nerf to WOO will make beginners suffer even more from map variantion while experienced players can easily run 5MA or map and do equally as good as now. So while "braindead run into yellow" will now be hardly accessible to begginers it won't be much changed for better players while at least will baindaid the lack of communication solo q has compared to swf and while most swfs are casual to new players it will still be impossible with the new wheel to even remotely close the gap. Which in the end still denies options to make killers better because solo q will be even worse than now which will lead only to more frustrations for both sides.

its still used often by experienced survivors because knowing how to loop well is only greatly enhanced by knowing exactly how to chain every tile and pallet together. with windows you cant accidentally run to a tile to find that it doesnt have a pallet or doesnt have a window, you know how to chain them together.
it does help new players sure, but its completely untrue that its not an extremely useful tool for experienced players as well and why its its been in like to top 10 used perks for a long time.
