Item switching in Lobby.
In the early days of DBD. Killers used to be able to switch between characters in the Wait Lobby. This was considered an advantage for Killers, because if they notice a SWF team, or items that look like they would bring a certain playstyle from the survivors, they could easily switch to a character they feel better suited against the survivors. So years later, DBD decided to lock Killers from switching characters in the Wait Lobby. I think that's fair.
Currently there are times with survivors would switch last second from the timer, to a different character or item. Not a big deal, until you run into a group of survivors that switch items to all flashlights and/or the same character with the same cosmetics at the very last second of the lobby time. Flashlights aren't a big deal. But when I see a group instant switch to 3-4 flashlights at that last second. 99% of the time, their intentions are to be trolling. Both Killers and survivors have plenty of time to set up their perks and items before queuing up. I think after 10 years, it would be fair to also lock survivors into their builds and items when they enter lobby. I doubt I'll see any traction by this suggestion. I'm curious to know if any other Killer main players out there have felt the same way when they experience this.
For now, to combat the frustration that builds up with Survivors with those ill intentions. I merely just sit at the gate and wait for them to finish gens then I open the gate. I don't get a disconnect penalty, and survivors get no heal, unhook, or chase points. Giving them the minimalist amount of BP in the end. I'll probably get a lot of hate and hear it's a "Skill Issue." I love/hate the game. I enjoy coming up with different builds to see how they work. After years of playing and seeing my heartrate go up to 172 bpm as killer and 120 bpm as survivor. I learned to slow down and just let those instances pass. In the meantime, this was just a rant of a small suggestion, to reduce the ill intentions some players have when they do these last second switch ups.

As a survivor, I actually do the very opposite. If I notice the rest of my team are stacking items, I will switch to a different item or none at all.

The ability to switch Killer post-matchmaking was removed, but not for the reason you might think.
With the introduction of SBMM, every Killer was given their own unique MMR (as well as a shared MMR pool). In order to prevent players from queueing up as a killer they barely play to get easier lobbies, then switching to their main for a good stomp, the devs locked the ability to switch killers after getting in a lobby. Meaning, players now have to play the character they queued up with.
You can sort of predict when Survivors might be about to last-second switch to another build or item. Usually when they take forever to ready up, and only do so when the timer is already over anyway, there is a chance they might be going to switch. And you can set a build yourself to quickly swap to if necessary.13 -
You give up if survivors swap to 4 flashlights? Why even play the game at that point

At this point they should probably just remove the lobby. It doesn't make anymore sense to show the killer the survivors are going against then it does for the survivors to know what killer they will face.

I've thought for years that they should lock survivors in to their builds/items in the lobby. Killers are outnumbered so I think they should be able to change in response to what the survivors are bringing, but I'd be fine with them being locked in too if they shorten the lobby time down to 30 seconds and added a 2 minute cooldown after dodging.

this, otherwise you could tank mmr on 1 killer and use that killer for matchmaking before switching to whoever you really want to play.
In otherwords it was a way to manipulate matchmaking.
