Mettle of Man will NOT be as strong as it appears to be

First I need to preface by saying that whenever new ######### comes out it's always called OP because everyone chooses to look at the bonuses instead of the limitations. In this case; it's been multiplied 500 times by killer mains and survivor mains with too much time on their hands and a paranoia that's done nothing but serve as a means for breeding toxicity.

Mettle of Man requires a few conditions first of all: the survivor NEEDS to be hit 3 times by a BASIC attack. Meaning you need to get hooked before you can even use it. This isn't to mention that the person who uses the perk can only use it ONCE per game AGAINST THEIR WILL. Unlike Dead Hard it is not a perk you have control over.

Also, when you get healed your aura is revealed to the killer until you're hooked again. Meaning the survivor either never heals (which works in favor of thanat) or risks getting a guaranteed hook/exposing other survivors.

For a perk that is apparently another DS, it's quite strange how many drawbacks it has for something that will only help the mid game and rarely the end (if you cant hit a survivor enough you have other problems)

This same thing happened with happened with Head On where people called it OP or the "new DS". What a surpise: it's not that good.

The concern is over-exaggerated, over-blown and frankly just worn out. I really hope the devs just keep it the way it is so killers can play it and see that its honestly not that good.

I'm genuinely surprised flip flop didn't get this much attention.

Its a fair perk to use in combo with ds. Im using this build: self care ds mettle dh

Pretty good against tunnelers and campers.

@xChrisx Do you mean that it's only fair to use MoM against killers who tunnel but it's unfair against killers who don't tunnel?

    jordirex Member Posts: 204

It's pretty annoying especially for m1 killers which are also the weakest ones. So it's a perk that doesn't punish too much strong killers but it does to the weakest roster, which is kinda stupid.

Yes but at this point at everygame, because im always against tunnelers 99% of the times

  • NoShinyPony
    NoShinyPony Member Posts: 4,570

@xChrisx But you realize that not 99% of the time killers tunnel? And that each time they don't, they get punished by MoM despite doing nothing wrong.

And here we are again, another one who can't see the similarities to old DS and sees it as balanced.

U know MoM is bugged and will have even less counters right? But who cares, if you say it's balanced than it is lol

Edit: Btw, the condition that u need to be hooked first in order to use is no drawback or real condition. Smart survivors haven't used old DS immediately, they used it midgame when it hurts most.

@HavelmomDaS1 What were the drawbacks of the old DS?

U could get juggled, you could be not obsession and never get the opportunity to use it, you need at least some good reaction time to hit the skillcheck otherwise u will never use it, enduring, stairs/in general drop down scenarios (combined with enduring you can nullify it 100%) and probably some more I can't remember now. Worked on every killer btw

    1) most killer right now is a bug and when they fix it only the instant down will not give toy tokens.

2)Your aura is revealed if you heal your self full.

    3) You don't have to get hook if you body block, heal yourself, get hit again, use instant heal you can take 2 more hits. It might see a lot but all of this can take from 50 sec to 2:30 min if the survivor makes mistakes.

    4) You can use it with other perks and get a more second chance.

    5) When you are injured you can take a chainsaw in the face and still be ok.

    6) more than one person can have it and you will have no idea about it.

    7) Have rly no counterplay.

I already know your points before reading it, it has alot of drawbacks to the point that actually the perk is weak, yes you sponge a hit but you have no control over the perk, you have to bodyblock to actually get the perk to activate against most killers due to the power countering the perk, Flip Flop needs more attention due to it being a complete karma to whoever decided to slug

@Hoodedfengm1n I been screaming since the perks we're in KYF that flip flop is very powerful, have the runners use flip flop and the flashlighters use MoM and it's a deadly combo when used correctly

Care to list these killers, as you've stated the majority can counter it?

    @Raccoon

    Legion

    Plague

    Hillbilly

    Nurse(NOT HER BUG)

    Trapper's Traps

    Leatherface

    Michael Myers

    Thats the majority

I just saw a survivor deliverance off the hook and tank a leatherface chainsaw with MOM.

Very strong perk in the right situation, which seems to come up quite a bit if you are interacting with the killer.

Seeing the survivor aura does not matter if they are already at the exit gate.

trapper and leatherface are M1 killers 75% of the time, i'd probably remove those two

@yeet the power counters it tho if it works

these powers rarely work against decent survivors, leatherface in particular

You'll also have a very hard time consistently countering it with Myers, as well, due to the nature of his power.

How does Nurse counter it when the bug fix specifically sees to it that she doesn't?

    @HavelmomDaS1

Being juggled is good for the others to do generators since the killer is wasting time and not to mention you can go down far enough from a hook for the killer not to be able to reach it.

If you are not the obsession you can still use it if you wiggle 35% if I remember correctly and in swf it's easy with others blocking the killer. ANd you come into the game knowing that there's a chance you wont be the obsession as are the others (if you are in swf). Not really a drawback, it's a risk you take. With MoM you don't know what kilel you go against and part of them make the perk completely useless which with old DS you can still have a chance to use it.

And no hitting the skillcheck wasn't that hard even against enduring.

Saying MoM is same or better than old DS is just stupid.

@Raccoon you could always go with what some people are arguing. “Just grab them off the gen” 😂😂😂

The perk being good against the nurse isn’t actually problematic, since it’s the nurse. It being good against pretty much every killer with no drawback is a problem though.

Not a single person with a semblance of skill ever said that Head on was broken.

also, for the most part, people understand that by itself MoM isn’t a problem. It is essentially just an adrenaline that activates earlier in the game. It’s when you have 4 of them + the other perks that do the same thing that multiply the extra hits exponentially that is the problem.

  • wisdom
    wisdom Member Posts: 216

No one person with any semblance of skill called ahead on OP.

the perk is not OP. The perk is adrenaline again (an instant heal that shows up mid game) a perk that is already run 3-4 times a game. Mom does it a second time a game.

also, the aura reading only happens after you have activated the perk, which means yea I guess you are “exposed” after you got your instant heal.

This game is about time management. If there are 4 instant heals in a game from mettle of man, it is going to be quite easy to get the 4 adrenaline’s off as well.

mom by itself isn’t a problem. Mom + every other option that gives you an extra hit + 4 survivors is a problem.

Unless you are playing one of the specific killers that counters it with their power, of course. But playing a specific killer shouldn’t be the counterplay option we opt for, should it?

It's not as op as people say it is, but it is strong.

You can heal to 99% and stop. Heal fully when you see a killer about to chase you. It's pretty simple. Also baiting m1 hits isn't that hard, do it when the killer is carrying someone, if it's non m1 killer.
